Hi. To connect an external antenna you must solder the output of the A wire of the antenna to the internal pole of a connector such as the PL259, and the (E)earth wire of the wire must be connected to the body of the PL 259 connector, right?

I bought 3 of these very nice looking lights in 2023 in Germany and now in 2024 no one works although the two have been used only for initial check. Obviously this Ningbo lithium rechargeable battery inside is a total junk. So the ALDI quality control system.

Great idea! Could also kick start the hobby in some way in some people by placing all these nice sets in front of the public. For me it was the sight of a large 50's 'piano key' set playing a station on FM with a bright green new magic eye in a market. This started the hobby for sure for me as I had a Bush DAC90a belonging to the other half waiting to be repaired.

I have a "Spartus" branded one that is functionally identical. Different mold, but likely the same chipsets. Cheap and NASTY! But hey, it's tolerable to work on! The "TV on a chip" is now in the realm of the dead though.

I would take a Indoor FM Antenna and turn it into a Slim-Jim Antenna for FM by removing the feeder to the coax socket and use a piece of coax with a coaxial plug attached connected to the required point for maximum signal and that is that.

Wow. I built one of those Roamer 10 RK3 radios in that PW ad back in 1978. I never did get the VHF receiver to work but I used that radio extensively for SWLing. Brings back many happy memories of tracking down Voice of Vietnam etc.

i had a sony trinitron for 25 years and it was still working when i gave it away.

These are radios from 1975 and have approximately 100-150 mW (depending on the battery charge) of output power in AM modulation. Thanks to the higher frequency than CB radio, they have a better range. They were powered by 10 1.26v Ni-CD cells, so the standard power supply was 12.6V. These radios are not CB versions, but versions for civil defense and industry. When the frequency is 29 MHz instead of CB 27 MHz, the range is noticeably higher. In an open field outside the city, the CB 27 MHz version has a range of about 1 km, here it should be even more. Of course, it requires a minimum voltage of 12V but no more than 14V. These were very successful radios. They didn't break down. You need to speak very close to the microphone, lightly touching the radio grid with your lips. The microphone sensitivities were so low back then. They consumed very little electricity. The standard battery had 10 cells of 1.26V and 225 mAh. Today they are described as 1.2V. In the past, more voltage was given on the label because the permissible current loads were lower, typically up to 0.2C, i.e. up to about 45 mA, and therefore the voltages during operation were higher. Good health. ps. They require holding in your hands, preferably both hands or a 250 cm counterweight. The 27 MHz CB version requires even more counterweight, the higher frequency is beneficial. A 12V power supply (not 13.8v) provides a counterbalance at home, but in the past regulations prohibited its use to prevent the RF signal from entering the power supply network.

What is your record for wire length in RX ? The longer the wire, the better the reception ? 😀 Is the wire necessarily laid out in a straight line? No return possible ? 😀 Does the wire placed on the ground have the same reception as placed up high ? 😀
