  • I made a huge mistake ordering my new landing gear. Nothing the vendor did wrong, it was all me not knowing what I was doing. I was going to have to order new landing gear to accommodate, but then I found more damaged parts... this pushed me in a better direction so I the landing gear I ordered wasn't a complete waste of money!

Some lessons are harder to learn than others, I bet you won't soon forget this one. Maybe, just maybe someone else will be able to learn from this as well. Maybe one day at Osh I will share my most expensive mistake. Great video Carl.

Thanks Brian. Would love to hear the story. If I don't make mistakes through this I may not learn much myself. Just wish the mistakes didn't cost so much. LOL

Glad to have met ya - wish I was still traveling to AZ and could help. Like the series concept!

It was great for me too! I'll take all the help I can on the plane, but it's a beast to work on right now with the hot and humid weather. I about died today.

Carl you should double check with your mechanic that's helping you with this project prior to ordering parts, not to say you can't do it at all. But at least he or she can double check and maybe point out some of the things they know to look for when they order parts for a project etc. Good luck and keep the build video's coming!

He's a Cessna guy. LOL. But I'm learning as I go. The frustration is going to be worth it in the end.... despite my wallet screaming.

You can buy axle adapters to run 1.5 axle wheels on 1.25 axles. Also complete Grove 4 inch wheels are an option. If you want that cub to perform well get rid of the Lycoming and find a good Continental C-90. I'm speaking from experience. That cub needs to be on a diet.

Meh, I was able to get new tires and wheels from Beringer. The plane rolls like a dream now! As far as the engine, since I'm already experimental I would actually covert it over to a 912 Rotax.... possibly a 915... don't hate me.
