osu! shorts is like the last resort for an osu! content creator to get popular/get views or money. long form osu! content with high effort rarely attracts the mainstream people outside of the community, even then those contents are prone to demonetization due to music copyright (unless muting or changing music pitch until you can't hear shit). imo there's still many types of long form content that can be beneficial for the community, like giving the community something good because you like the game and not because of money.

hey there, i've watched 2 other rants before this one and i already had commented on them sharing my thoughts, but yours perfectly vocalized the stance i have on it copy and pasting my comment from the other video, "im pretty sure i was the first one to post rabbit hole as a short when everyone else followed suite, it was by complete accident because i was planning to do one with just the original MV and then i saw caststation posted the animation a few days before and so i had to post the thing the next day mainly because i genuinely think the animation is cool (check his other 2 miku animations), next thing i know it blows up and i also benefitted from it by pure accident which i'm not 100% happy about considering how others are posting that same animation 3-4 times in average to min-max views. i'm not trying to have a moral high ground because bag is bag, but its pretty demoralizing to me that the way osu! is being shown to people is through these trendy slop content, from rabbit hole, verbalase $50k, family guy snippets(?), etc. when there's 17 years of beatmap content out there that do have videos/storyboarding both ranked and unranked, i guess its the "method to grow faster" but i'll never understand why it has to be the only one. my personal pet peeve is when the vertical monitor gimmick has been cannibalized for the sole purpose mentioned above as well, i know rotating a monitor isn't something that's exactly unique and i'm not calling "pewdiepie did it first" but its crazy to me how people will go to lengths to squeeze out gimmicks with not even the intended purpose anymore. i'll continue to make shorts daily myself and bring out everything that's possible with osu!" now additionally, i wish osu! shorts should've been a way to share more knowledge, passion, and trivia about the game. the stream highlights osu!Daily does are actually a pretty good way to share about top players the weird quirks about the game osubites did 2-3 years ago were pretty entertaining and even myself having 12 years on the game learned something new but i guess now it'll take an avalanche to reform the landscape of osu! shorts
Fun watch! I honestly feel like shorts in general are just annoying with most content that performs well being ripped from movies, anime, and just other things the uploader doesn’t own. For me, I wanted to start uploading stuff onto CZcams but wasn’t having any fun with the super simple “just take a TikTok video that did good and narrate it” advice. Thus, I have fun uploading my own gameplay (even if it sucks sometimes 😂)

I just got in for the music and creators like tokaku just making vids about osu player types, before i even knew what osu was. she didn't present osu as some crazy world, just a different one. for the readers, help present osu as a less crazy world again. a strange, but perfectly fine and interesting world with more to discover. music, art, stories, and most importantly, change. without any change, any community falters and shrinks. you can do it. um saow, if i had to give feedback, I'd recommend not ending the video on a negative note; that'll bring apathy to viewers. you have a perfect chance to send a message to sway public action into, perhaps, making any osu content for the joy of it.
I think the best way to fix this issue is like a lot of people do short content, but no one does nsfw weird shit. so because there will be so few nsfw garbage, people that discover the game will likely wont have a negative perception of the game and it's community, and degenerate that like this nsfw shit will be less likely join.

Tbh, the only way I knew about Osu! Was from my brother when he found out about the game, but then kept rage playing when things were not going his way because of his old set up that he had at the time. A lot of the stuff I saw on Osu! Was remanicant of beat saber, albeit, with some differences here and there, but the objective is still the same. To me, neither one of the games are that interesting, but I knew right away that the way the games were set up were made in a way where this stuff was eventually going to happen, and I just stayed away from it. I commend the fact that you’re going out of your way to change a community for the better, and condemning those who make the community worse, however, it’s not to say that I’ve seen this exact same thing happen time and time again, and then people just end up feeling a sense of hopelessness to something that is not easy to change. Best advice I can give: Change the community, one step at a time, and ignore whatever people say in the background whenever you get negative criticism. These people don’t represent the community, or any community for that matter, they’re only just spreading what they think is appropriate for them to share out there, only to get angry and cry whenever they’re told like “Yeah no, This shit is not okay, don’t post it.”. Those people that like, for example, make an Osu of Hatsune Miku being apart of Soft Core Porn that you just mentioned in the video: They need to get a life, and touch grass is all they need, and even with the drama… idk what to really say about that, just let it run the way it does, and just, leave them alone, and if something happens, that’s more content, lol, I get it sounds predatory, but there’s not much you can do, except get the message out there.

osu! shorts is like the last resort for an osu! content creator to get popular/get views or money. long form osu! content with high effort rarely attracts the mainstream people outside of the community, even then those contents are prone to demonetization due to music copyright (unless muting or changing music pitch until you can't hear shit).
imo there's still many types of long form content that can be beneficial for the community, like giving the community something good because you like the game and not because of money.

hey there, i've watched 2 other rants before this one and i already had commented on them sharing my thoughts, but yours perfectly vocalized the stance i have on it

"im pretty sure i was the first one to post rabbit hole as a short when everyone else followed suite, it was by complete accident because i was planning to do one with just the original MV and then i saw caststation posted the animation a few days before and so i had to post the thing the next day mainly because i genuinely think the animation is cool (check his other 2 miku animations), next thing i know it blows up and i also benefitted from it by pure accident which i'm not 100% happy about considering how others are posting that same animation 3-4 times in average to min-max views.
i'm not trying to have a moral high ground because bag is bag, but its pretty demoralizing to me that the way osu! is being shown to people is through these trendy slop content, from rabbit hole, verbalase $50k, family guy snippets(?), etc. when there's 17 years of beatmap content out there that do have videos/storyboarding both ranked and unranked, i guess its the "method to grow faster" but i'll never understand why it has to be the only one.
my personal pet peeve is when the vertical monitor gimmick has been cannibalized for the sole purpose mentioned above as well, i know rotating a monitor isn't something that's exactly unique and i'm not calling "pewdiepie did it first" but its crazy to me how people will go to lengths to squeeze out gimmicks with not even the intended purpose anymore.

Tbh, the only way I knew about Osu! Was from my brother when he found out about the game, but then kept rage playing when things were not going his way because of his old set up that he had at the time. A lot of the stuff I saw on Osu! Was remanicant of beat saber, albeit, with some differences here and there, but the objective is still the same. To me, neither one of the games are that interesting, but I knew right away that the way the games were set up were made in a way where this stuff was eventually going to happen, and I just stayed away from it.
I commend the fact that you’re going out of your way to change a community for the better, and condemning those who make the community worse, however, it’s not to say that I’ve seen this exact same thing happen time and time again, and then people just end up feeling a sense of hopelessness to something that is not easy to change. Best advice I can give: Change the community, one step at a time, and ignore whatever people say in the background whenever you get negative criticism. These people don’t represent the community, or any community for that matter, they’re only just spreading what they think is appropriate for them to share out there, only to get angry and cry whenever they’re told like “Yeah no, This shit is not okay, don’t post it.”.
