  • The story of my first kundalini experience. I wanted to share this, in case there is anyone in the same boat, who has no one to turn to in order to confirm their experience. We don't have a real knowledge or support system here in the West. I'm lending my voice to help bring that about.

    Mine has been opening the crown for the last 2 years. My ears ring daily on and off and the head pressure is immense. However bliss at times makes it worth it. Extreme heat at times too, especially in the chest region. Been moving upward from my heart since 2012. It has blasted away most of my previous personality along with most desires, addictions, and goals. Heaven comes at a cost! That cost is you.

      Well said, Long. Not everyone will have the same experience, and it is possible to minimize the uncomfortability, or avoid too much kundalini experience. However, I would like to do a video that explains there are risks to deep meditation.

    My kundalini awakening happened in 1989, it was dramatic and it changed my life forever. Thankfully, I am a lucid dreamer, so I have always received guidance in dreams, as well as from earth angels who show up and speak to what I have been questioning. Thank you for sharing.💜

    Hi Forrest, I can’t thank you enough for your channel and for this video specifically right now. I’ve watched many of your videos for a couple years now and I’ve been practicing meditation for some time; I also do extensive energy work so I am working with my energy daily. Tonight I experienced pretty much a mirror of what you’re describing in this video. I was meditating this evening, practicing HRV breathing of course, and I was pleasantly surprised (although the sensation was quite jolting) to find myself spinning uncontrollably (so I felt). At first it felt like the entire room spinning around me, and then it progressed to feeling like my body was spinning as well, almost like the room was spinning into my spinning body; it almost reminded me of the motion of the torus field. Because it was slightly nauseating and at first dizzying, if I had not seen this video maybe a year or two ago first, I would have immediately opened my eyes out of fear that I was “losing my body” because that seemed like a natural impulse. But I remembered your experience in the ashram and I simply surrendered into it. WOW. Profoundly intense and I am so grateful - although I’ve never met or spoken to you personally, I consider you such a special teacher to me and I felt like your words were guiding me through the experience. I just had to find this video again. I’ve had many experiences but not quite like this. The key was letting go and trusting. Thank you Forrest, from my heart! 🫶🏽

    I am sooo grateful for your channel. It is giving me so much confirmation that I couldn’t find anywhere for years actually! And it is actually starting to explain so many events I went through from childhood as well, for myself. I have always known it’s not a disease and it pains me that after finally reaching out about my experiences last year, at a psychiatrist, that I was given a diagnosis on the scizo- affective-spectrum. I know for myself it is not a disease because some of the experiences were clairvoyance for instance, that were undeniable for myself. And several other things like seeing colors from around the age of 12.. and just subtle voices and sensations throughout my life. All things I could still function with. But then I went into full blown psychosis 4 years ago. ..
    I have always known modern medicine would label it something it is not. And it stopped me for years from getting help even-though I’ve been desperate for it at times. Because really no one around me understands. Luckily I do have few openminded people around to whom I can vent some of it. But most I keep to myself because it can be so wild.
    I would not ever want to go through that (not being able to discern one dimension from another) again although I am also deeply grateful having gone through it.. But even during that time I was just praying for a medicine-man/ woman. A Buddhist teacher, someone of the older traditions that actually understands these phenomena. It was so so lonesome EVEN though the spirit world was helping me move through. They even “warned” me it was going to happen years prior. They told me “you need to prepare to let go of every concept you have about life”. But once it really hit, quite literally, all my frame of reference was gone..
    sorry if I’m repeating some stuff from my last comment. It’s just that I feel a little overwhelmed. I just LOVE you for making this channel. I am calming down soo much compared to before.
    “They” are telling me to just lead as simple a life as possible for now with as little impulses as possible.. And it is a prayer answered to find a person in the flesh, EVEN if I see you on a screen haha, that tells me it is ok.
    You have done a HEAP for me by making these videos. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

      stretch your tongue out long and hard straight down towards your chin, you don't have to use your hands or a stretcher, just notice how much further it will go back naturally after you do this. stretch it by it's own muscle strength down and then back towards the ganglion or past to the mudras position you are trying to achieve as am I. make it stronger and more flexible as a muscle tho don't over strain or damage trying to rush. it will happen eventually.

I live in LA and have been able to visit Lake Shrine and meditate in the Chapel throughout the years. The energy of Krishna and Babaji have blessed me time and again even without a direct understanding of their philosophies. Their essence and presence have spoken to me quite profoundly. Here's the thing: I'm at the point in my life where meditation has become an essential priority. In addition, Lahiri Mahasaya is coming into my inner visions and I feel he is trying to teach me about Kriya Yoga. I noticed you've written "Hacking the Universe". The feeling of the room spinning is something I got a lot as a child. Sometimes it spun and snapped back then spun and snapped back again. I once had an OBE and for a month after until it faded I felt this stuff a lot and started to feel like like I was almost taking off out of my body again. I fought it along with the waking sleep paralysis but it is my biggest regret that I never gave in to it. I didn't know what it was and wished I had a book on OBE's at the time but you have irrational concerns that something might get into your body while you're out. I never had one again but try occassionally and fail.

    I have had this experience, in a meditation retreat last New Year's night he finally woke up, after a couple of years of feeling signs, and particularly it is an energy that invites me to live IN LOVE WITH EXISTENCE, I feel at the spiral taking me and literally immobilizing me with an energy similar to a high tension tower in the spine, in the moments where I feel tempted to react impulsively or selfishly, the energy intensifies and I must stop, observe myself and choose to act from love ... and there the energy "calms down"
    It is a new experience but I appreciate it, I feel that I am guided by this energy, by life. It is like a wave of consciousness.

    Hey Forrest,
    A few years ago I had an experience of oneness, love and bliss that was preceeded by what felt like a line of buttons being pressed form bottom to top along my back. What was very significant about the experience was the COMPLETE silence (no thoughts) that accompanied the experience of oneness and bliss. This experience dissipated after 5-10 minutes and the more it left the more the thoughts came back. Nobody I talked to could explain it, but I suspect it was a kundalini related phenomenon. What do you think?

So, the question becomes, where you surrounded by the bliss with you in the center? Or did you feel at one with it? If you were at One. Then it was a samadhi experience also.

    Mine was during a 2 hours meditation session, the eyes started pulsating at an incredible speed, I maintained my calm and kept observing and then there was an explosion of white light. I couldn’t move my body for some moments, it was like being detached from it and my life after that never been the same. I stopped being atheist, became vegetarian , reduced my alcohol intake...the ears now ring everyday and I had plenty of mind blowing visions, from the basic orbs of light , to the spiritual eye when I meditate or do breath work to still images from the past to cartons to high definition tv to math slides to alien spaceships and alien cities, out of body experiences and the spookier ones when focusing on the ear ringing in the evening in which one feels teleported and seems to be possessed by not friendly entities , or flying out of the body and being cared with such love by such a beautiful loving light to mind blowing cartoons series with sounds....it’s a process that will challenge all your conceptions about life and actually make you lose your fear of death or at least reduce it greatly....because the universe seems a lot more complex that one thinks...there is more to life than meets the eye. Thx a lot for your videos Forrest, it’s filled with beautiful advice and it’s very helpful to someone like me that thought he was going crazy....fortunately people like you , google and some kundalini books helped a lot to understand this experience that was very hard at the beginning, changed my life and some of my habits and inclusive my personality, I’m calmer now , more loving and more patient and it’s still ongoing...what a thing...

    When I was about 21 or 22 I was practicing aikido and part of the class was a centering and expansion meditation on the hara. After a while, I noticed that sensations kept wanting to rise to the heart and throat. I couldnt seem to keep my energy down there. After an intensive weekend I went home and found myself with a kind of prayer going on in my head (but I wasn't really conventionally
    that religious). It was a frustrated longing to know what life was all about. It was very intense and out of frustration I called out angrily to the Universe. At that point, some kind of energy ripped up through my body, my heart, through my throat and out of the crown of my head. I was totally freaked and felt I was leaving my body and I was being called towards the stars. I thought I was dying and sat centering on my hara to stay alive! For months later I had a frickin feeling that a cool lazer type light was shining out of my crown. Man, was that strange! I have always felt I was reborn after that event......

      It is much easier to "open" the third eye. I have a video planned on this. ... The trick is to not look through it with your eyes, but with your attention. So you have to divide your attention from your physical eye focus. This happens automatically when we dilate the eyes significantly in meditation.

      Anhedonia and depression usually happen when the past and the experience in our past, weigh on us so heavily that we can't imagine any possibly bright future. So we begin to give up hope. So it's an Affliction of both the past and the future as it is held in the unconscious mind. The best remedy that I know for this is a technique called the time line therapy. But you might have a hard time finding someone in your area that can help you with this. I'm planning on doing a series of videos about time line therapy and those may be of some use to you. I could see all of my atoms move around in my brain and rearrange while LIT UP, and with this very loud and deep WHIRRRRR sound happening. This went on for a while and then there were five bright EXPLOSIONS of light inside of me. It is so hard to explain in words, but it changed me immediately, as I KNEW and still KNOW there is a Greater Presence connecting ALL things. Have you ever heard of this kind of experience, and would you describe this as a different kind of Kundalini? Or something else?? Thank You 🙏🏻 I have been searching for answers 💓

      @ForrestKnutson  Před 2 lety +1

      Beautiful! I once had that feeling of a lightning bolt coming through the top of my head and going down my spine while in prayer. Perhaps I should tell that story. This would fit within the category of Kundalini. Anytime we have a feeling inside of ourselves inside of the body of energy moving it fits within the category of Kundalini Awakening. We have become awake to the movements which are usually hidden. That you had a deep knowing because of this experience - that is a gift from the right brain - the guardian angel or the God brain inside of us. Welcome to the channel and I hope you find more and more answers. 🥳🙏

    Hi Forrest, I appreciate your videos and your genuine nature. In meditation, I see what looks like the iris of an eye. As I relax deeper into meditation the pupil of the iris turns a violet color. At some point, I often feel a like a "swoosh" sensation as if I'm moving to the stars. This violet pupil is a portal and I start to see blinking eyes. I've seen this many times. On one occasion, I felt as though I had moved through the portal. I was face to face with the most beautiful being. It's skin was light violet in color and it literally had three eyes. It seemed benevolent enough. I was just startled and lost the connection. Any ideas? My higher self? Thank you again for your videos - Namaste

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  Před 3 lety +1

      So that was the spiritual eye and when you feel that swoosh you are exiting from the preoccupation with the left brain and the sense of self or the consciousness is moving into absorption. If you were to go into full absorption then you would begin to enter a non-dual state. So what happened in that experience is you were right before that absorption and you entered what I call the download phase, and you had a meeting with an archetype of your Higher Self. Very awesome!

It is true if you are worn out and low of energy then the Kundalini experience will be reduced. Kundalini experiences are fantastic, unless they begin to take us out of balance. However, it may not be sustainable for long periods of time. Which is why I teach HRV Breathing as the bedrock of meditation, along with sitting very still. I have that video entitled Clinical Mindfulness. Work on those 4 Proofs and develop those Meditative Mellows. Those are sustainable, and will heighten the somatic experience of kundalini. It's actually the kundalini awakening the 5 vital airs that we feel. Not the kundalini itself. I explain that here:

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  Před 5 lety +2

      The 3 Knots of Lahiri Baba are a profound subject, and deserve their own chapter ...their own book! ... If you think about it, the Tongue, in itself, is not the spine or the brain (of course) which is what meditation is really about (as you know). So, it isn't stretching the tongue for the tongue's sake that is helping us. Rather, it is what it gives us. It relaxes the Left brain, the soft palate wrapping stills the left brain, and it stimulates the deep brain. That stimulation is what the "knot" is really all about. The beginning of the unbinding process, which then continues in a downward progression. .... More to come! I'd like to do a talk on all of this! Thank you for your great question!

    I don't know if it could be called an awakening but I have been experiencing movement (of air?) In my spine from around 5 years now. I feel like it is stuck in the head( upper skull, like it's being pushed) , neck, throat and shoulder areas . Can sense things are heavy in other parts of the body as well when I focus in that area . I thought it will even out and heal itself on it's own with time , but that has not happened and I worry if this is going to be forever . confused about what to do about it. From the time of the 'event', mental and emotional states have been volatile.

      Yes, that is the Kundalini Shakti at work. If we were close by, we could sit down and have a long talk. That not being possible...
      I recommend you become as knowledgeable as possible about the Kundalini Process by reading these 2 books, if you can get them:
      Joan Harrigan Books:
      Kundalini Vidya: amzn.to/2DUOOB5
      Stories of Spiritual Transformation: amzn.to/2R9w2sF
      These 2 are also helpful:
      Kundalini Rising: amzn.to/2MMR1CE
      The Kundalini Guide: amzn.to/2NvISnt
      Joan Harrigan began a wonderful project in
      kundalinicare.com/
      They offer a consultation service where you can write in to them with your Kundalini symptoms, and they can offer suggestions on how to support and continue your particular Kundalini process. There are different potential routes that the Kundalini Shakti can take, and different places where it can become "stuck" and so different, suggestions can be more supportive than others. Often it is something that our own bodies and intuition have been telling us, but we've simply overlooked it somehow.

      That is all normal. So, the first step is to accept that you are in the process, and that all of it is okay. That acceptance, not resisting whatever is needed, is often enough to make a big difference. No fear, no self judgement.
      Please concentrate on the Medulla whenever you feel pressure. Even rub it with your hands, and put all of your mind there. Let me know how that helps.

    Thank you Forrest for sharing your experiece. I would like to share mine if you don't mind about my own spiritual journey or more like a psychic experience. Ever since i can remember, i would have visions of things that will happen in the next 2-3 seconds. I always wondered how and why it happens. It reminds me of a Nicholas Cage movie titled NEXT. In this movie Nicholas would see things that will happen in the next 5 minutes. I also experienced SLOW MO effect thats when everything in my field of vision would move in slow motion just like when you push the slow mo button while watching a movie. This so far has only happened twice in my life. It happened while i was practicing martial arts and second was when i was in a emergency situation. I tried to replicate this feat or at least try to reverse engineer it . But i guest it was more a spontanious thing that got triggered. Thanks

    One time, when I was a teen, I was walking down the sidewalk of a busy and loud road. I was kind of deep into my own thoughts, and even though the traffic was loud, it was just background noise to my thoughts. My thoughts were light-hearted and not particularly important. Cars were whizzing by, horns were beeping, and also, someone was spinning their tires. All of a sudden, I heard a very loud crash and felt a burning sensation on the back of my calves, and without intention, I started high-stepping, football style, forward. The person that was spinning their tires, was not doing it intentionally, but because a fire hydrant was draining and she probably had bald tires, as she was turning onto the main road that I was walking on, she lost traction with the road and drove onto the sidewalk, extremely close to me. As far as I know, the car never touched me. I can understand my running, even if it wasn't a conscious decision to do so, because of the noise of the car hitting the curb, but what I don't understand is what caused me to feel a burning sensation on the back of my calves? I believe, ultimately, God saved me, but the intriguing thing is the process that was used. The reason why I bring it up after watching this video is maybe I was in some type of meditative mindset which left me open to the burning calves signal? Maybe it was an intense signal radiated from the woman who was driving the car and was trying to avoid hitting me? Sorry if this is off topic, I just think things like that are fascinating. A few other things in that realm have happened to me, too. Take care, and thank you for your work!

      Amazing! Thank you for sharing! The Right brain, the Parent brain, is designed to look out for us continuously. Its view is omni-directional, and it operates without words. Often we find a way to short circuit its directions. In this case it was important enough for it to take over and save your life. Beautiful story! Yes, God saved you.

      I'm horrible with dates. I was in the Postulant Ashram. I remember the room it happened in. I think that was 2002, or 2003. It continued for the next 5 years until slowly balancing. At one point I couldn't talk more than 5 minutes about anything inspiring before getting a huge headache. Of course, the technique I was using at that time was kutastha focused, rather than medullary focused.

    I have heard it said that you should pick only one god/goddess to follow in a kundalini sadhana because if you are devoted to two for example Krishna and Shiva that when the Kundalini begins to rise it will have two heads and thus will be split and instead of travelling up the Sushumna it will divert into the pingala and Ida,what is your take on this Forest ?

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  Před 5 lety +2

      Great question! Kundalini Shakti is your body's own internal intelligence, and so the way it unfolds is all to do with your personal story, your needs (even physical as it will seek out injuries in order to work on them), and the specific meditations that you practice. This is one of the reasons I mention the importance of the medulla. That is a correct goal in Lahiri Mahasaya's kriya path. I've never heard of it splitting because of devotion to two god/goddesses. Ramakrishna was a case where he experienced a partial rising to the heart, and then had to let go of his devotional attachment so that he could complete the rising. Joan Harrigan talks a lot about partial risings. You might like her books. I have links for her on each video. Personally, all of them are dissolved in the understanding that it is the Higher Self that I'm seeking. In that understanding, Krishna is representative of the Medulla. His brother, Balarama, is one step above him. Most Goddesses represent the Kundalini Shakti, or the expression of Her unfoldment in the spine. So you see, it is all one. One path, one end experience, one truth.

      I like what he's saying in terms of concentrating your efforts. These things are like orgone pumps, and the pump has to get going for the technique to work correctly. If you constantly change the mechanics of the pump -- in a fundamental way -- then you risk hampering the build of the pump. That being said, there's a lot of benefit in meditation to keeping it interesting in order to stave off the dreaded "sleepatation." So, I would say that was his core message, and not to worry about splitting a kundalini rising. I've never heard from anyone experiencing that. I've heard of MANY partial risings. That, I think would be a better subject to be concerned about. ...Now, if you're building a prayer practice, then you have to pick one Cosmic Model to build that prayer practice with. You have to build report and connection. And that won't work if you switch it often. Great question!

    what people don't understand is considered a dream or madness. Scientists or rationalists are experts in this field. What if it was enough to induce a physical or mental rotational effect to awaken the kundalini? I am thinking in particular of the dance of the whirling dervishes.

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  Před 3 lety

      I think so. I think that's what their practice is actually about. Not that there's any guarantee that it would happen quickly. However once you have had a deep experience it's easy enough to induce it by imagining it's happening to you.so the imagination becomes a gateway to the actual experience. In the same way that if you imagined yourself playing basketball every day you would get better at basketball in the real world.
