    that's awesome, can't wait to start modding out mine, have a long way to go and probably will start by moving the exciters up and trying to figure out how to edit the frequencies of the sound.

    Thanks Leo! Great job on the video and showing how you did your setup. Quick question, at 23:59 where you talk about how you integrated the bass shakers into your front and rear amps, it does not appear that any wires are connected to the green 2.1 outputs on the amps. Can you share how you wired those?

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 2 lety +1

      The bass shakers are connected to the green connectors. You can't see the wires due to the angle of the video. The hole where the wires go into the cabinet is directly above the green connector. The wires don't loop out like the rest, they just go straight up.

    Followed this tutorial exactly thank you. Installed the exciters and bass shakers with amps but no subwoofer. Besides pinvol any recommendations for getting the sound tuned in. Do you have all volume knobs all the way up and adjust with pinvol software?

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 2 lety

      Yes I have all the volume knobs turned all the way up, and all the bass and treble knobs turn to eight. I then just adjust each table with pinvol to my liking, every single table has to be adjusted independently but only takes a couple seconds and then it saves it forever.

    Can you set the ssf to work with the stock tables by feeding the signal into the external sound card's input? I am trying to upgrade to ssf from a buystuff haptics setup on my alp. I am setting it up right now with the built-in sound card.

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před rokem

      I don't think it would work, the sound from the ALP would have to carry additional data to tell the external sound card which of the 6 speakers/exciters to send the sound to.

  • @t.7380
    @t.7380 Před 2 lety

    Why did you put a washer between the exciters and the cabinet? I'm ordering parts for SSF right now.

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 2 lety

      I actually didn't. I put the washer between the screw head and the exciter and not between the exciter and the wall of the cabinet. I did that to back the screw off just a hair because I was worried that it might be too close to the outer wall and mess up the art on the outside. I couldn't find any other screws that the head was large enough to hold on to the exciter and it was under a half inch. I thought a quarter inch screw was probably too short. The cabinet is not made of real wood It's a funky particle board that's very weak. I thought since the exciters would be vibrating a lot the quarter inch screw might rip out of the weak material. I know I put the washer on the wrong side when I was showing the components.

    Leo, were you ever able to get DOF linx setup for FX3 or future pinball. I tried following Terry's guide and installed dof and doflinx, made changes to all the ini files but still cannot get it to work. did you have to change anything with the dof config tool? or did you just use default values ?

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes I got it working. I followed Terry Red and Major Frenchies videos. I don't remember having any problems other than when it started with administrative rights, I had issues with it not working properly, but since I start it regular, I have no issues. I do have a problem sometimes where I load a FX3 table and I have no surround sound feedback and then after a few minutes it'll pop on. It doesn't work on a lot of tables. If you join the surround sound feedback for visual pinball Facebook group those guys will help you out.

    Amazing job with the work and the details included in the video. In the components list there are a couple items that do not appear in this build, is the video board a generic replacement for the VIBS board which you ended up using in your AMAZING custom backbox? Would love to see even some basic details or guidance on what was required for that build, it looks incredible.

    • @leodonnelly5427

      This is the HDMI board I used. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06W5DTGKC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title They didn't have VIBS backs when I made the video. Right after that video I made a full custom backbox using the 32 inch monitor that is on top of the backbox in this video. I also used a 19 inch monitor for the DMD and used two 4 inch led speakers in it.

    • @TheSketch27
      @TheSketch27 Před 2 lety

      @@leodonnelly5427 That's what I was curious about as atgames is currently out of stock for VIBS boards again and was hoping I could just pick one of these up in its place. The notes on board at amazon only just up to 17.3 inch being supported, guessing that was not an issue. Thanks again for taking the time to create the SSF video using it for reference and plan to build almost identical setup after a short time playing it stock.

    Great video dude. Definately going to reference this when I try this mod. Got some questions about the bass shakers and hookup.
    1. Did you get the Dayton Audio TT25-16 Puck Tactile Transducer Mini Bass Shaker? How exactly did you hook these up to the amp? You mentioned that the back bass shaker was kooked up to the back left and back right amplifier. Can you explain how all 3 speakers are hooked up to the amp given the amp has a +/- L and +/- R?
    2. If you did get the bass shaker I mentioned, from the pictures on Amazon, it looks like they don't mount flat to the surface. How are these mounted to the bottom of the cabinet?
    3. I bought the Dayton DAEX25 instead of the DAEX58FP. Do you think the DAEX25's will be good to use?

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 3 lety

      I bought the TT25-8 mini-bass shakers. The pictures on Amazon do not show it but it actually comes with a adapter to be mounted on a flat surface. If you go to the parts Express website and look them up you can see a picture of it. The amps that I bought to power them are three channel. 1 amp powers the left and right backbox speakers and a 6-in subwoofer. Another amp powers the rear left and right exciters and one of the TT25-8 mini bass shakers. A third amp powers the left and right front exciders and a TT25-8 mini-bass shaker. Each amp has a left and right input and they also have a crossover built-in which goes to a third subwoofer out channel. The Dayton DAEX-25 exciters Will work perfectly fine. Everybody who does this surround sound feedback system either uses those or the 58's that I got.

      @@leodonnelly5427 Thanks for the info. For the backbox speakers, can you explain a little more about the hookup and what connectors you used (link if possible)? I was wondering if there was a way to use the backbox speakers in the 7.1 audio from the PC as well as for the stock tables? What are your thoughts?

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 3 lety

      @@craigyoung4068 For the back box speakers, I disconnected the main speaker connector in the back box (the one that you connect the back box to the main pinball machine) I then soldered beadboard wires ( www.amazon.com/EDGELEC-Breadboard-Optional-Assorted-Multicolored/dp/B07GD2BWPY/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=breadboard+wire&qid=1624891719&sr=8-5) to the wires exiting the left and right channels of the amp for the back box. I then plugged those wires into the speaker connector for the back box speakers. I do not use the stock tables, I only use OTG so I don't need my speakers connected to the stock tables. You could wire in a three-way switch and have one side wired to the stock tables and the other side wire to your 7.1 sound card. Then you could toggle between your computer and the stock tables. I have since removed the stock back box and built a new one with a 32-in monitor, a 19-in monitor and 4-in LED speakers.

    is that wire (the 6 primary colors you showed) using stranded wires or a solid wire? And can you explain in a little more detail about that sound card? Where does its audio input come from? Is it spliced into the AtGames speakers, or is that sound card just connected to a USB 3 port on the computer?
    Originally, I was looking for a video on youtube (and I saw your video) that shows how you could hookup external speakers (just like some nice logitech computer speakers and sub) directly to the Atgames pinball machine, so that it sounds louder with bass. In that situation you would need a line output like a RCA left and right or a 3.5mm jack to feed into the external logitech speakers

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 3 lety

      The wires are stranded, the sound card is USB and I do have it connected to a USB 3 port. Once you install the drivers for it Windows just sees it as a sound card and you just go in your sound settings and click on it to make it primary. I do have the sound card going to the two back box speakers, The speakers have a disconnect so you can remove the back box That is where I connected the sound card to those speakers.

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 3 lety

      Before I installed the surround sound feedback I was using my two PC speakers and sub still connected to my PC. Typically your sound is transmitted through the HDMI cable to the Legends pinball however you can select your PC speakers as the primary sound output.

    ps could you make a video showing how you do these settings where this was mentioned below:
    It's not needed, but it does greatly increases the low end of the sounds. I definitely prefer it with the base shakers. If you use Pinvol You can adjust it to where the flippers don't activate the base shaker but the slingshots and bumpers do, makes it more realistic.

    • @leodonnelly5427
      @leodonnelly5427  Před 3 lety

      I do use Pinvol and every table is individually set with its own sound settings. There is no standard setting for volume on tables. Some tables the music is too loud some you can't hear it at all. Some tables you can't hear the the sound effects. Some tables the flippers are extremely loud activating the space shakers and some you can't hear the flippers at all. So as you play a table you have to tweak all the sound settings for that table in Pinvol saves all those so when you open the table again they're all set.

    So is it worth having the bass shakers in the bottom connected to the amps or is is overkill? have 4 exciters hooked up on sides with a subwoofer. Seems like a lot of extra vibration from those two bass shakers in back and front middle that might not be needed? Thanks!
