bro what magical place has 800 dollar banshees 😭
You know how rednecks are..exegerate everything. Buy at 800.00 that thing is still clapped out..
Out where I live tweakers get ahold of thses things .and think they are fixing them .then some body will buy it on the cheap.
@@THatChevyguy91 yeah, those poor old quads, tractors, etc. Thankfully some of use go out and rescue them from that torturous life.
Not California
That’s what I’m sayinnn 😂🤔
That was the longest 10 minutes of my life.
It literally took 31 minutes and like 5 seconds
Yea but he coulda started it in 10 minutes but he was smart and checked compression put new oil in it new gas cleaned the carb better
@@pure_offroad_roleplay
If you're that smart you don't need a compression tester. To determine if something will run only newbies like this guy and he is a newbie snowflake
That's fine he should put it on the thumbnail and not lie about it and give false information@@pure_offroad_roleplay
Ss btw
Love bringing these old machines back to life. There is no greater feeling when they fire up.
Except when the guy that couldn’t get it running is behind you when YOU get it running
I ride my Banshee year round, especially in the winter (lots of warm clothes=lots of crash protection without the sweat, lol). Powercore 2 exhaust, Trinity 2 into 1 high rise carb setup (absolutely bulletproof, rarely need to use the choke and starts good, even in cold weather), Cool Head w' just the right amount of mild cylinder porting, ALL brakes in working order w' triple rate front shocks for control and safety (ALWAYS HAVE BRAKES EQUAL TO H.P. OUTPUT). With my 300+ lbs. and 22" tall GBC Dirt Devil mud tires out back (a snow game changer), I was going right up some hills that 4x4 ATV guys were struggling with. HUGE snow roosts and just gone. My Banshee has taller gearing in the sprockets and with the taller rear tires, I don't even shift in to 6th gear until 55+ mph. Those big mud tires are surprisingly stable at very high speeds. All you sport quad guys should stop parking your quad for the winter and get you some 22" GBC Dirt Devils for the rear and a pair of handlebar mitts (around $20 and another game changer), and ride all year long.
Needed this video 10 yrs ago. Night before big snow storm in pa..doesn't happen too often..luckily I fired up my 660 raptor to make sure it was ready and thought it was good until carbs started leaking. No way to get any parts. I took n apart and cleaned em several times. I was up all night researching on the forums until about 3am found a mention about the seat o ring. I didn't know they existed..didn't have any of course so had to go to sleep but go up early went to bros shop got him to meet me to open up and grab an o ring bout an inch came down at this point. Got home threw it together in perfect time to go out riding on the roads all night..was great time
You have an excellent channel man , I watch your videos just about everyday and people can learn a lot about dealing with issues they maybe having with their toys , I know watching you work on these fun toys helped me solve a couple problems I was having with my 98 banshee which ended up being the ignition switch and a vacuum hose that was dry rotted. You were working on an old 3 wheeler that had that problem at the time.
I hope not this guy's an accident waiting to happen.
Where’s your channel dude?Let us all know so we can rip you apart. If you think he’s so bad why the hell are you watching? This kid knows more about these machines than the majority of people do.
@@ronalddaub9740 another keyboard mechanic smh
Man, ever since I found your channel I have been wanting to find a non running bike and fix it. You make it look too easy 🤣🤣
Stock pipes is nuts
When lubricating electrical switches of this nature, you may want to use CRC 2-26. Its safe on plastics and cleans and lubes the contacts. I use WD-40 to remove road tar from lower body panels in the summer time.
Pb blaster works great on road tar and old sticker goo
Your really digging deep with these latest finds!😂👍🇺🇸
Just a bit!? Is this staged!? 😂
I love that the title says in 10 minutes but we get a good 45 minutes. 🙏🏽💯 love a good detailed video they help out so much
What a great restoration project!. Always loved the design of the Banshee..
Lmaooo 8:35 the camera was holding on for DEAR LIFE 😂
Yes I'd check those spark plug boots like you said also. Just for good measure on it all. It helps out with your diagnostic's on the not getting consistent spark.
Such a classic quad, hopefully can ride one in some dunes one day, bucket list trip. That spark plug wire is a tricky one, I don't always think to check that first, but its happened a couple times now.
Joe your channel has become the only one i watch lately.. thanks for all the hard work man!
Would love to have that for $800...a diamond in the rough for sure just waiting to be polished & I've always wanted a first-year Banshee, nice find!
Great explantion in the video and detailed! You don't get good videos like this, didn't need this for ref for anything just stumbled across it. Great job keep up the good videos, that shee sound always gives ya the chills heh
The absolute best sounding machine in my opinion....especially with pipes. But in general...love the sound of banshee
I had an idea of the issue right away but great job marking things off your list I actually came back to see how to check a kill switch
Crushing the content and finds lately! Why can't I find a $800 banshee lol
Because your not looking hard enough
Great video it's good to see youngster's working with their hands and not needing a lap top to fix everything
Yeah but you can watch this guy give Kickstarter 10 kinds of hell with a 20lb boot
$800 for a J-arm?! 😍 In 1996" I bought a 88" RM 250 for $200 because it had a broken spark plug wire.. took it home and had it running in 10 minutes!! I was 15 yrs old but knew a thing or two about 2 strokes!! Excellent job on the diagnosis!
Lotta bikes floating around like that if you look, especially near racetracks/riding areas,Im about 20 mins from Redbud Buchanan Michigan, great area to find bikes,/quads.
Banshee= screaming midrange blast,Yammy should of used the YPVS off the road bike!!
@@darrylmarbut47 I'm also in Michigan, about 45 minutes North of Silver Lake Sand Dunes!
@@lucascady4992 that would put you somewhere between ludington n Manistee. I'm in pentwater. Small world lol
A friend of mine had one of these in the late 80's or early 90's can't remember. What I do remember is nobody really liked to ride it because it was scary fast for 13 year olds. LOL!
they still scary fast once they hit power
Best videos ever. I’m addictive to watch his videos. Perfect videos. Natural no annoying music. No annoying guys . Best videos ever
I admire your patience with the electrical time after time, I just don’t have any lol
He's one of those mechanics that has spasms
The connectors are usually taped to help keep moisture out. Well... thats their thought anyways. I was waiting for this puppy to run in the 10 mins you mentioned.... Lol. Come on. you're slacking! Great video ,brother.
Love all your videos. You're great at what ya do. I have a older quad here needs work just don't know what to look for.
That’s one of the best sounding banshees I’ve heard in a long time
It sounded like a 600cc sports bike
It sound terrible stock pipes suck
@@reedburns6100 it sounds amazing stock pipes Rock lol
It sounded like a bag of shit in the lower rpms 🙈😅
What a great restoration project!
Fixed in 10 mins makes a 45 min video 😂😂😂 im dead 😅
Yep click bait
@@rideallegretto1933 I only watch cause my garage is too cold. Not for the amazing repairs
@@n2vxc get a heater, I got a free kerosene torpedo heater cause it lost spark, but I fixed it. Things amazing how much heat it puts off, if only my garage was insulated.
More like halfday🤣🤣
I love watching your videos when I can.
Love watching you troubleshoot. Great work.
Fixes in in 10 mins but the videos over 40 mins 😂 love the video man
Always loved the design of the Banshee.
you are a very competent mechanic. the issues with these old machines can be very tough to figure out.
You do good work awsome I've been doing this for 40 and some years spot on keep up the good work.
Joe u sure fix things fast brother, wow!😮👁👌👊💪💪💪
I can't believe how good it runs even the condition that wings will be a gem restored
I restored it over the course of last winter. I am the owner of that banshee. I wish I could post some pictures on here of what it looks like now 😂
This guy is amazingly immune to carbon monoxide... great vid's ... gettin paid by y/t, right on!
I had the same year banshee, had to sell it this year due to finances. I have always used 32 to 1 on all my 2 strokes and that always gave good smoke. Not seeing much smoke out your 40 to 1 premix makes me nervous. Another great find on the plug wires, initially I also thought it was CDI.
Newer synthetic oils can be ran at 40 or 50:1.
When I had a banshee that’s what they recommended i run with the oil i was using.
Some outboard motors run up to 250 to 1 with their oil injection.
Clymer manual specifically states 32:1 on pre-mix.
They make smokeless oil
i bought my 2003 banshee for 800 dollars (before maybe 18 months), and it was in a good condition .actually its ready to ride !
Love the channel, the detail, and the pointers. Why does seeing Quad stripped down to the frame reminded me of a homemade go-cart?
My guy 2vintage is slept on
Awesome! Love the vids❤
Seat looks amazing
Thank you so much for this video, I learned a lot about my banchiee
Man. I think you should do a complete restoration on something I would definitely watch and I think it would get a million views at least. You know your machines for sure.
He's not capable of full restorations he hasn't the patience he's always in too big of a hurry and he breaks too many kickstarter's
. He doesn't know that much he's just lucky and has a lot of $
Another great video. I love your throural troubleshooting and anyways zooming in to keep us involved:) doesn't this make u want to rip yours down the road outta the snow this time lol?
Twin 2 strokes sound so wicked! That's going to be an awesome ride.
Yes they do
Like a chainsaw with wheels.
Good work joe!
Pretty cool quad great fix joe your the man 🔧🔧🔧🔧👍👌
Best sound ever! I had a rd 400 love that thing.
That's nice of you to help out that guy you're awesome
You should put Chuck on a fast quad and have him "send it" across yer field and play "rock roullette" wearing full football gear... thats what little brothers are for 😉
J arms were available for the first few years if im not mistaken. 800 bucks is so unheard of. Very cool
I learn so much, watching your channel!
Man that a nice one what great find wish I could find a good banshee got 2 motors for one trying to find one at a deal.
Don't you wish they were all that easy ?!?!? Hey bud, thanks for taking your time and actually showing us what you're doing and how you're doing it!
Such a badass quad
bro that was great just so you know thanks to your videos i was able to fix a polaris trailblazer 👍👍🤙
Clutch safety switch also causes intermittent spark also
They seriously had that I mean cmon yamaha
My dream atv. I can't even find one where I live. Guess I'd have to win the lottery to get one of those...lol
That aftermarket piece on the intake is called a boost bottle. It replaces the crosser over pipe and was supposed to do a bunch of things but really didn't do shit. They were a waste of money.
I would just like to say- I subscribe to your channel and have been watching your videos for a while now. You are, a super talented small engine mechanic and have amazing content! Keep up the amazing work young man (no disrespect)
For $800 bucks mostly stock Banshee what is not to love great find by your friend hope he does the bike the justice is deserves great video Joe have a great week mate 👊💨
I’m fully restoring that banshee this winter. It is in good hands of someone who appreciates it.
Dude I love ur vids n ur da reason y I work on bikes learned alot watchin ya thx bro big ups big ups
Bazinga ! Nice work
Good fix bud. I believe you can unplug the kill and ignition switch to rule out. Test/ohm oem stator use it if in spec. Definitely going to be lean. Running stock Jets with aftermarket K&N filter and cold Temps will need to be jetted/tuned. Quick test to check needle seat is to connect tube to fuel intake and blow through tube (using your mouth and holding float) while turning carb upside-down allowing float to close, no air should pass if ok. Set float height to spec. Oh and I didn't notice if the tors delete idle screws were installed. Don't adjust idle using throttle cable.
If you use an air compressor wouldn’t the air be strong enough to push the needle up
@@Hyngyynj don't use a compressor use your mouth.
Instead of pouring gas into the carb, just blow into it. It should blow through. Then turn it upside down. It should shut off and not let you blow through it.
Much less messy! ☺ 👍
wow. a running $800 Banshee in that condition would be begging me for my version of a fairly complete resto.
theoretically: I’d strip it down, sandblast & repaint the frame, re-wire & re-loom the criticals, blast & paint suspension components & swing arm and basically everything metal, rebuild the top end & score new plastics. I’d put just under $1k into it, to have it look really good & perform even better for under $1.8K.
in reality: I’d strip it down, get to work on the shoddy frame bits, lose interest, have a pile of Banshee parts for many years, then I’d sell it all for $600, losing $200, thus reminding myself again again that I only need to buy good-to-go toys Every Time I get the Itch.
I’ve learned. I have a badass fully-paint restored RD350 with gobs of aftermarket parts that has been sitting for over a year.
me = idiot
You should do more full engine rebuilds
if it ain't broke, don't fix it lol
@@M.TTT. literealy
@@M.TTT. I think I have too fix my quad before I have too find/buy a new engine case 🤣🤣🤣
You know what?? I have been meaning to ask as well.I watch this channel all the time..Awsome channel , and im amazed at the prices for some of these machines..like the Banshee…I have been looking for years, and $3500 for a rust bucket does not even seem possible..more like in the $4k range not in very good shape…who knows
I’m envious of you. Looks like you’re getting snow flurries. It’s 107 in Fort Worth today!🙀🙀🙀
Alright. Gotta know. How the heck I can you buy 2 vehicles a week. And where is the 100x100 building. Crazy 😂
He should do a top end rebuild. Had a Yamaha Blaster in similar condition that ran mediocre when I bought it, but turned into a little rocket when I did a top end rebuild. Deleted the 2 stroke oil reservoir and pre-mixed all my fuel after that. Heard horror stories from Yamaha owners who relied on the 2 stroke oil reservoir to work, but they clogged sometimes.
Y
I love how ten minute jobs always take four hours lol
Good job man! I need to get my 78 Yamaha Dt 400cc in the shop.
The boost bottle is a add on. Stock there was aluminum cross over tube 16mm.
Nice keep the good work😊
Love the Alinement on the quad beside it ! ;)
Goes straight as an arrow 😂
Hey Joe check that CDI box.& The voltage regulator rectifier box to on it.
she got the ole six pack holder grab bar! love these old bikes
Great video as always
That thing sounds mint for what it is!
Cheers
Keep up the amazing work
Banshees like that where I’m from are going for 3-4K 😂
I bet even more
You can't touch one of those on the east coast for less than 5k. Awesome deal! Nice job!
Sad part is I bought one brand new for $5100. Now the same year in good condition sells for more than I paid for it. I wish I still had it.
@@kennethbouch7796 I know right, I just looked at a couple for sale online before you posted your comment. I really want one for some reason. Sucks to look at your Banshee in hindsight, but I get where you're coming from.
Awesome video!! What 2 stroke oil do you use?
Sounds great!
Nice work!👍🏻
It's a great platform everything is available for them you can make a monster out of one of these!!!
first start sounded like my pipes heating up with that rattle 😂
Subscribed 👍 Now all she needs is some love and definitely full Toomey pipes... Best looking and sounding for Banshee and Blasters
Oh, memories. My brother had that year. J arm got love them. Right now, I'm working on 99 banshee it's been sitting 14 years in storage. So I pull it out for my son. When he gets off the bus, ask me every day you are done. Carburetors were nasty. Parts are on order. The rear brake line is clogged up. tried air nothing. For your life buy new.
A lot of doofuses not watching the video. Not his quad, he didn't buy it. He's working on it for someone else. Try watching, THEN COMMENTING
Bought my ‘87 banshee for 5k last June from the original owners! Almost completely stock too
Yeah that took a hell of a lot more than 10 minutes anyways love your videos keep up the great work😊❤
Like we say here concerning trouble-shooting: check the last action of the mechanic first! Yes, the shortening of the sparkplug wires in this case. 😀
I think that diagnosis took longer than ten minutes ,so how did you fix it in ten minutes
Useless comment
@@jaredbauer3058 it’s tho tho lmfao
@@jaredbauer3058no it's not this guy is full of braggadocious bulshit
