The activities in this video can be dangerous. If you are unsure of something stop and get professional assistance.
At 16:50 I say Longers recommended speed and power sheet has settings for material up to 15 inches thick. Of course, that is supposed to be 15mm.
Nice presentation and demo of different woods. Suprised it did that well on hard wood. Good job, thanks.
Thank you very much!
Very cool tool! This was a great range of tests. It looks like it is quite capable within the ranges you found, making it great for many projects. With my 3D printer, I can modify the GCode to change things like print speed, tool head temperature, etc. This might be lame, but is it possible to change the laser focus mid-print in some way? Like, halfway through a thick piece, can you dynamically change the focus to be "further away' from the emitter? Would this let you get through these thicket pieces? I realize this may not be a great solution, especially since you have the CNC, bandsaw, etc. But, I am curious. Great video!!
The machine does allow for speed and power changes on the fly, but to do what you're suggesting, the laser module would have to physically move. On one of the extra thick cuts, I did pause and drop the laser down a couple of mm's before continuing, which didn't seem to help much.
Mine keeps giving a flame triggered and beeps like he'll since it came out the box yesterday 😢 can't figure it out!!
If you want to cut thicker wood, you have to do two passes and then reduce the focal length. Then, two more, do the same until you are not far from the surface. This will keep the issues with beam divergence down.
Great tip. Thank you.
Great information, thank you! .. Speaking of risers .. it appears your have some in your shoes as well because your poor neck is smashed from the ceiling :) -- J/K!!
Lol! Yeah, it's a low ceiling in there. Old rabbit hutch turned small workshop.
I have this laser but after 4 months the power is getting less. How is this possible. And for the second time!!
There are many reasons for laser modules to lose power. And they all do over time. But it should last at least a couple of years.
