- In honor of the 245th Anniversary of The Battle of Bunker Hill, we are releasing a new American Battlefield Trust branded version of our Bunker Hill In4. Join Jim Percoco as he details the battle that followed Lexington & Concord, signifying that full scale war was imminent and there was truly no turning back for American and British forces.
As a Brit I always thought that the Americans won this battle. This video is very good. It takes you through the important elements of the timeline and states quite clearly the strategic importance of this battle to the US.
Ya'll are so awesome. EVERYONE needs to know this history!
I have ancestors who fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill. I feel proud to be a descendant of Patriots!
I do too!
I'm just happy to be alive. Glad my dad was Antifa in WW2.
@@boffo63 America wasn't exactly cool with communism. Eisenhower even replaced democratic-socialist governments with banana companies.
@@boffo63 antifa are the fascist now.
@@boffo63 lol what a neck beard comment
My 5th great grandfather Samuel Ellis ,was at Bunker Hill. One day when he was there George Washington showed up. Washington took out his eye glass and watched the British. Washington then handed the eye glass to my 5th ggf in such a familiar manner that it seemed like they already knew one another. Washington asked him to observe the movements of the British. Quite a conversation followed between my 5th ggf a humble soldier, and the father of our country. I am a distant cousin of George Washington.
George Washington wasn't present at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
@@SemperFidelis903 Not at time of actual battle.
You're a liar and do not have the fear of God.
How do you know all these details and why is George Washington a distant cousin of yours?
My 6th great grandfather, Col Thomas Knowlton, was killed in this battle…there is a statue of Him erected at Hartford, Connecticut !
Loving your videos. And thank you for doing what you do.
Thanks Mr P!
As a brit who loves America, great video!

after the Lexington alarm of April 19
00:15
1775 20,000 militiamen and Minutemen
00:20
groups from across all of New England
00:21
converged on Massachusetts and Boston in
00:24
particular they were outraged they were
00:26
angry and they bottled up the British
00:28
inside the city by the middle of June
00:31
their numbers had swollen to the point
00:33
that General Thomas Gage was concerned
00:35
about their presence outside of the city
00:37
they were led by General Artemus Ward
00:40
who was head of the Massachusetts
00:42
Committee of Safety who on the night of
00:43
June 15th and 16th ordered his forces
00:46
forward to this position on breeds Hill
00:49
which we erroneously call Bunker's Hill
00:52
his men erected a fortification on this
00:55
hill that in the morning when the
00:56
British woke up looked out were stunned
00:59
and knew something had to be done after
01:01
a council of war with his subordinates
01:03
William Howe Henry Clinton and John
01:06
Burgoyne General Thomas Gage made a
01:09
decision he was going to attack the
01:11
American position located on breeds Hill
01:13
and on the afternoon of June 17 1775
01:16
which was incredibly hot and humid day
01:20
thousands of British grenadiers 's and
01:22
regulars embarked across Boston Harbor
01:25
disembarked on the shores of Charlestown
01:28
and began to assault the American
01:30
positions here at Bunker Hill led by the
01:33
courageous General William Howe the
01:35
British marched off in cadence to drum
01:38
beads and assaulted American position
01:40
thousands of British grenadiers 's and
01:41
regulars massed and formation at the
01:44
bottom of this hill inside the american
01:46
fort American militia men trained their
01:48
eyes and they knew the big fight was
01:49
coming they could see the great gleaming
01:51
bayonets they could see the Redcoats
01:53
allegedly Colonel William Prescott one
01:56
of the defenders inside the fort ordered
01:58
his men to not fire until they saw the
02:00
whites of their eyes
02:01
the British marched up in cadence step
02:04
by step inch by inch they got closer and
02:06
closer and closer and when they got
02:08
within musket range
02:09
the Americans issued a withering volley
02:11
that
02:12
dropped the British in their ranks in
02:13
their place and they retreated back to
02:15
where they started
02:16
once more the British marched up the
02:18
hill again this time stepping over a
02:20
dead and wounded comrades they made
02:22
their assault on the American position
02:23
and once again the Americans fired a
02:26
withering volley into their ranks
02:28
the British once more retreated to their
02:29
original lines finally on a third
02:32
assault again marching over their dead
02:34
and dying comrades
02:35
the British were able to penetrate the
02:37
American forces and a severe and fierce
02:40
firefight broke out inside the
02:41
fortification inside the fortification
02:44
were several African Americans including
02:46
Peter Salem who saw an officer he drew a
02:48
bead on the officer fired his gun and
02:50
took down Major John Pitcairn who had
02:52
gained infamy during the battles of
02:54
Lexington and Concord the Americans
02:56
broke and ran but not because they were
02:58
afraid but because they had run out of
03:00
powder and shot the British won the
03:02
field but as Henry Clinton had said it
03:04
was a dear bought victory after the
03:06
Battle of Bunker Hill reconciliation

Thank you for this great video, looking forward to more.
The Breed family asks: what are we, chopped liver?
At age 13 I visited Pearl Harbor and several times more. Now at age 53 I've walked Freedom trail seeing Paul Revere's house, Boston Masacure to Bunker Hill. Great ride. Even Lizzy Borden house. Its history people. Experience it before it's gone.
Thank you! This is a succinct, accurate account of a Revolutionary War battle. CZcams is flush with bogus movies and reenactments that do history no justice. Thanks again
Can you give examples?
Nice video
POGGERS AM I RIGHT CHAT OR AM I RIGHT
Many of these Americans here were former Rangers during the Seven Years War too so no wonder why they were deadly accurate.
A truly momentous battle for the American cause. 🇺🇸
Boo!
