Dr Dray can I just say you have SAVED my skin!!!
I don’t know why I ignored the recommendations so long but I finally got a dermatologists recommended routine. I have oily blemish prone skin, but I definitely don’t have full blown acne. I just get constant white heads and congested skin that I’ve never been able to solve since I was a teenager. And being in my late 20s now I was like WHEN WILL THIS END!!??
I’ve tried so many products over the years but nothing made much of a difference. I finally said enough is enough and searched for derm recommended skincare online and from yourself, Doctorly and some others on CZcams I found the same type of routine and same products recommended by each of you. Also I live in the UK so often a lot of the products you guys recommend we can’t get in the UK, for example we can’t get Adapalene over the counter and we have very little in the way of benzoyl peroxide products.
So I went onto iHerb and got myself some American products and I haven’t even had them for a week yet and the improvement is so amazing I could almost cry!!! My texture, congestion, break outs, skin tone, everything is just improving each day! I can’t believe it’s my own skin!
    My routine is:
    AM
    CeraVe SA cleanser
Neutrogena AM Stubborn Acne benzoyl peroxide treatment
Differin Oil absorbing moisturiser with SPF
    PM
    The Ordinary squalane cleanser
    CeraVe SA cleanser
Neutrogena PM Stubborn Marks retinol treatment
    CeraVe PM moisturiser
This routine has been life changing in just a few days! And it’s inexpensive and so simple! So just thank you so much Dr Dray!

Same! I almost never wear makeup when I have cystic acne. But the oil cleanser seems to grab all the gunk and oil from my face, plus breakdown sunscreen. My skin is sensitive enough that even makeup wipes or cotton rounds can irritate it, so the oil cleanser has been a godsend.

What would be super awesome for the more affordable cleansing balms to do is to not only include a spatula, but to also have snap-in storage slot for the spatula on the lid much like some to-go containers for packing lunches. I've only seen such a thing from Drunk Elephant and Tatcha, but I ain't paying those prices. It's really annoying when a spatula is provided but with no real clean way to store it. Sidenote; price per ounce on the cleansing balm is equivalent to price per ounce for Elemis.. which I buy when it’s on sale half off at Ulta as it is my favorite of all tine. The Elemis naked cleansing balm is fragrance free and it still has a lovely texture.

I tried both of these products and didn't really have a great experience with either of them. To remove makeup now necessary that the school year has started, I added the cleansing balm to my night routine before Cereve Foaming Facial wash and Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair, which I have been using without problems for a couple of months. The retinol stung like crazy and also stung the second night after discontinuing the balm.
Re the eye makeup remover, yes it does cut through the mascara bleed beneath my lower eyelashes, but I agree with you about the packaging. It's only a matter of time before I spill that bottle because the cap is so difficult to get off, especially with arthritis. Plus, one knock and the bottle spills. Enjoy your videos and have learned so much!

I adore Cerave too and am excited to try this as soon as I finish up my giant $50 tub of Clinique's Take the Day Off. Can't thank you enough for the education/enlightenment/instructions regarding double cleansing, Dr. Dray. It's become such a soothing ritual at the end of each day! Feels great to gently massage cleansing balm into my skin and melt away the day's water-resistant mineral sunscreen layers and gardening grime etc, before stepping in the shower to wash with a cleansing gel and rinse off. And DEF way more gentle than scrubbing or rubbing the skin. Ideal for those like me with rosacea & sensitive skin. Love you to bits, my dear!

A lot of the eye makeup removers, Clinique, Neutrogena, have the same opening, which is very wasteful in dispensing. I now transfer it to a travel bottle that you can buy at the chemist which you flip with a small opening on too. It saves a lot of product

I have used and loved Cerave products since they came out. I have very sensitive skin and Rosacea and this brand works well on my skin.
When you first talked about double cleansing I went looking for a drugstore balm and found Ponds cleansing balm. I loved the product and the price was amazing $9.99(Walgreens) for over 3 ounces. As it is with so many things I fall in love with, they discontinued making the product. I was so frustrated and couldn’t find anything I could afford to use.
I heard Clinique take the day off cleansing balm was amazing so I bought it. It is in fact amazing but I cannot afford $36 a month on cleansing balm. I am so excited that Cerave has come out with a cleansing balm and I’m sure I’ll love it. It is pretty high for them for such a small amount of product but

Thanks so much for reviewing it, I’ll be buying today.

Hey Dr. Dray! I just flew within the past month or so and I brought my Pixi Caroline Hirons cleansing balm in my carry on, went through security zero issues! I've found within the past couple of years TSA has really stopped caring about the whole liquids thing. Unless it's a literal liquid, I have brought through a variety of creams, ointments, sunscreens etc. not in the plastic bag with no problems.

I've been using cotton disks daily for 30 years - they vary a lot! Some you just soak and place for a few seconds on the eyelid and they remove the stuff all at once without rubbing. Others don't work at all! As a remover I've always been using the Jade Maybelline two phase cleanser. CeraVe will be my first change in 30 years - I love CeraVe, too!

Yes, Dabbing/gently pressing rather than wiping/dragging is much better to remove eye-make up. I then just 'tickle' the eyelashes with a folded make-up round to remove any excess mascara. I then rinse my face over the bathrub, using a hand-held hose.

I have dry and very sensitive skin, and the balm removed all traces of moisturizer and sunscreen, which at the time, I was using a sticky and tacky sunscreen. It left my face very soft, supple, clean with no film left behind. I was very impressed. I know there have been complaints of the small size, but literally a pea size does the job for me. I also wish a spatula had been included, too. Thanks Dr. Dray for the video. I still will continue with CeraVe Facial Hydrating Cleanser (my favorite). Also, a shout out to you for a recommendation of Cotz Flawless Complexion Tinted Mineral Sunscreen, SPF 50. Thanks for the heads up on new Cerave products. I have a goodly supply already of cleansing oil (DHC) but just ordered the Cerave eye makeup remover. Wish I'd listened further on your video before I impulsively pushed the Amazon purchase button, though, as you clearly showed it's a liquid, and I'm a lotion eye makeup remover kinda gal, not liquid or oil or anything that requires a cotton ball or the like. Neutrogena used to make a creamy, non-greasy non-stinging eye makeup remover in a blue tube, but it was discontinued, unfortunately. I've been on the hunt ever since for something comparable. You also demonstrated the potential difficulty of opening the cap, and thank you for that, I have arthritis in my hand! Oh well, maybe my daughter will like it. Lesson learned - I need to always listen to Dr. Dray's very thorough videos to the end before impulsively hitting that purchase button! 😂

I remember having acne around the sides of my face and around the chin. It was stubborn and just refused to go away for a full year. I happened to have the Eve Lom Cleansing Balm on hand and decided to start using it and instead of just removing makeup, etc., I decided to make use of it as my main cleanser. It was a huge tub (expensive as it is) and decided it'll take ages to finish and so I used it twice daily. I really enjoyed the scent and taking the time to massage it into the face and cleaning the balm off with the cloth warmed up in hot water. Within a really short time, the acne cleared up! And as long as I kept it up, my skin looked and felt great. The only issue was, it needed time and when life gets busy, it is not easy to allocate that time for it, as enjoyable a routine as it was. Further, the cost was prohibitive tbh. Some of the "clean" folks also started scaremongering about the fact that had mineral oil in it. Anyway, it is a nice product and the scent is really soothing and addictive. Might try and be less lazy and start using cleansing balms again. Will give the Cerave one a go! Looks promising!
