This may be odd, but I'm so thankful you just posted this, Dr. My father is in the hospital because of COVID. They're putting him on a ventilator today, and I need this normalcy. Any kind of normalcy. I look forward to your Saturday videos. †Whoever is reading this, if you are religious/spiritual in any way, please pray for my father to heal and come home.
Stay Strong, I will be praying for him đ
Ameen đ
Ameen! Sending lots of strength and love your way, I am Muslim and will be praying for him đ€Č
So, vaccination didnât work for your father? Which one did he get? My mom is 86 and she got the Pfizer vaccine.
Praying your father regains health and is free of fear and pain.
I know she said as someone with oily skin you wonât lean to oil cleansing balms but as someone with oily skin, I LOVE cleansing balms because they help break down all the oil and build-up my skin gets throughout the day
100%, I'm combo oily but would never give up my oil cleanser! I think the key is just finding one that emulsifies and rinses off well so u don't feel that yucky residue feel
Same. The Ordinaryâs squalane cleanser strips my makeup off perfectly and I follow that up with a water-based cleanser.
Saaame. Iâm an oily combo mess and love my oil cleanser for removing my sunscreen :D
I agree that oil cleanser help oily skin, but i think she's specifically meant THICK oil balms that can leave oil residue on the skin.
@@lief5902 which one are you using?
If you hate water (or oil in this case) running down your arms when you wash your face add scrunchies to your forearms! It helps a looot
Why didn't I think of that?! Great tip
@@lyn9291 right?? Saw it on Tiktok and have never gone back
Um.. leaving the house to buy scrunchies...
Great idea!
I like to hear smart people talk about things they are passionate about
Clinique's Take the Day Off is definitely an all star for a reason. I've tried tons of balms and it's truly the best.
@@rushmiar Gonna say this again because you felt the need to post this on several peopleâs comments. People are allowed to have a nice product and like it, Iâm sorry that the Clinique balm hurt you so bad that you need to try and take away joy from others for liking it or being able to have it.
I heard Beauty of Josean is a great dupe. I havenât tried either so not sure but I think one of the dermatologist here in YT said it đ
@@orozcoaj69 So funny you mention this, as I just used the Beauty of Joseon one for the first time today after using the Clinique nonstop for years. I don't think the Beauty of Joseon is an exact dupe, but definitely veeeeery comparable. Definitely on the way to becoming my favorite cheaper cleansing balm. Beauty of Joseon is the closest I've found to the Clinique out of all the other popular balms I've tried over the years (Elemis, Farmacy, Heimish, Drunk Elephant, etc.).
â@SimplyRini have you tried Then I Met You? I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Clinique or Then I Met You. I have very sensitive skin that generally reacts poorly to skincare with inedible ingredients.
I love the Clinique Balm. Iâve tried the Drunk Elephant and the Green Farmacy but always go back to the Clinique. I did keep the scooper from the Drunk Elephant and it fits perfectly inside the Clinique jar. Not a heavy makeup wearer but I like how it breaks up sunscreen and mascara without irritation.
My problem with Take The Day Off is that it goes rancid. I prefer Drunk Elephant maybe because I don't wear heavy-duty eyeliner
Clinique one changed my all make-up remove procedure đ That product works so good :)
@@ebruyldz4680 how do you feel about the polyethylene in it?
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your intelligent, honest reviews. Other dermatologists on You Tube will partner with sponsors and sometimes they will acknowledge that and other times they wonât. So you have no idea if they are being honest or paid. You give very honest and intelligent reviews that I can trust every time. So grateful.
As always you made waking up on Saturday fun and informative! Thank you for giving us part of your day! â€ïž
Hi Dr Shereene, regards from CT. Spent the day in NYC yesterday- you are not kidding about the grime and filthâŠLove your content , quick wit and cheery manner. You make me smile every Saturday morning. Thank you. đ
I bought Clinique as my first balm and I was so satisfied that I didnât feel the need to try out anything else.
I had no idea you can do all that with a cleansing balm, so helpful. Clinique take the day off all the way.
Skin nerd here. Thanks to you⊠you either confirmed I was doing things right, and/or elevated and educated me more on my skin game. You also helped me with my kids skin. Love you and keep doing what you do, I appreciate it and wait for each video. Love you
Thank you for clarifying this issue. It confirms my thinking that, depending on ingredients, balms can be used for several purposes. Itâs all about ingredients for me. Since I use a mineral tinted sunscreen every day, I use the Boscia cleansing oil in combination with the Grown Alchemist foaming cleanser, then I rinse well.
Clinique balm is my holy grail. I've gone through a lot, it works really well!
Just got the elemis one on sale at Ulta. It is my favorite cleansing balm of all time. The texture is just so dreamy unlike any other balm I've used (and trust, I've used a TON). Emulsifies well and breaks down sunscreen super easily. The Beauty Pie Apricot cleansing balm comes in at a close second for me.
I absolutely love face balms. Been using for decades and so hard to source a decent priced one.
I have dry sensitive skin and using balms changed everything! Love fragrance free ones like the Clinique one.
Farmacy Green Clean is by far my favorite. I've been using it for years and it works great to remove waterproof mascara!
I like ELFs Holy Hydration cleansing balm. It has a slight scent that I like. Also love the Inkey Listâs Oat Cleansing Balm. Both are great as first cleanses for my dry skin and light makeup use.
This is so helpful. Thanks for doing this. Love when your family comes in and out of the room, makes it so genuine đ
The Elemis one is one of my favorites the Clinique one is really good and the Body Shop one. I tried the farmacy ones and I like them but Elemis rose balm is one of my favorites đ
i love the cleansing balms because I have dry skin , so appreciate your channel
Thanks for this. Iâve tried a lot and always come back to Cliniqueâs Take the Day Off balm. Itâs not fragranced and just does the job at a pretty reasonable price! But I do love the Farmacy original one.
Iâve used 3 of these cleansing balms for my double cleanse process and my absolute favorite is Then I Met You.
Cliniqueâs is the GOAT but Iâve been trying to go cruelty free as much as possible so Iâve looked for alternatives. I love the The Ordinary Squalane cleanser. Good at makeup removal, non irritating, and a good price point.
I just started using Clinique balm. Love it. Takes off makeup and washes off easily.
Farmacy is my jam! I use it to remove sunscreen and heavy makeup. I love the original scent and recently purchased the unscented and they both get me nice & clean. They have a scooper also and I love that. I'm dry rosacea on my face.
I have sensitive skin and have been using Elemis for over a year now and absolutely love it. Its pricey, but so worth it!
Honestly as someone with extremely oil skin, no combo. I love a cleansing balm, ensure you have a good cleanser to ensure its all off especially if you suffer with clogged pores. I honestly love the Paulaâs choice cleansing balm and the clinque take the day off oil.
I LOVE the Clinique cleansing balm (unscented, very oilyâŠbreaks down everything without tugging and washes off very well with water)-itâs amazing for full makeup, glitter, long wear lipstick. I donât use it daily as Iâm a minimal makeup wearer during normal times and prefer a micellar water.
Elemis has another cleansing balm which is VERY similar to the one by Then I Met You, itâs called a cleansing butter and it has pumpkin something in it. I love it so much that I bought another immediately after Iâd used up the first one. Also a cleansing butter by a Korean brand Banila (the orange one) is very very nice and it smells amazing!
I love the unscented version of Elemis and it takes off all make and sunscreen without oils or fragrance.
Thank you so much for this video. It really helped me too decide which one Iâm going to get next. đ
I live in the high desert at 5000 ft. This is great information (as well as the earlier videos about products without Hyaluronic Acid). The air here is so dry, it's a constant struggle to maintain the skin barrier on the entire body!
I have dry, sensitive and aging skin and love, I mean love, the Naturium balm. It calms my skin down and actually helps when I have a breakout starting.
I have extremely sensitive skin and I swear by the original Pharmacy balm and love it with no irritation.
Clinique take the day off is amazing. I used it to take off a very heavy black smoky eye after Halloween
I'm a little late to this show,, but I've really grown to love the glow I get from Naturopathica's Manuka Honey Cleansing Balm. I feel as if I get the benefits of the healing Manuka Honey (real manuka honey) and my face glows for the day when I use it as a mask. Love it!
I absolutely love to double cleanse. Itâs the only way I am able to completely remove mascara and eye shadow. I use a cheap one from Korea and then a regular face wash (from Neutrogena). I have oily skin but I have noticed it gives breakouts. I am so happy you made this video, now I have to pick one product and try!
Iâm oily and switched to cleansing oil vs a balm⊠I wear waterproof sunblock and waterproof mascara. I despise products in tubs/jars, especially in the shower. I will say that I did love the Juno cleansing balm formula, and you canât beat the price!
Thank you for comparing all of those cleansing balms. I have used Clinique, Farmacy, and Elemis. I actually love the original Farmacy balm. It does a nice job and I love the light lime scent.
One of my favorite videos of yours....thank you!!
I love cleansing balms!! Beauty of Joseon has a wonderful one. I am using Heimish one right now and really liking it. Inkey List cleansing oat balm is great too. You can find unscented or lighter fragrant ones and like with all skin care read the ingredients! The key with cleansing balms is to emulsify.
Love a cleansing balm - currently using one by Beauty Pie. It works well, but think I'm addicted to the smell of Elemis. So when I finish Beauty Pie-I'm back to Elemis. Thanks for the tips on how to multi-task with these balms.
I Love the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover, does not irritate my skin, I have combo sensitive, works very well removing, make up and spf.
I like giving my face a 10 minute massage with Kose's cleansing oil because it coaxes out all the oil plugs and leaves my skin feeling really smooth.
đI just love you and your totally true self!! Love that your come with nothing but truth!!
Iâve been using the Clinique for over a year now and love it! I smear it on all over my face, especially eyes. Brush my teeth and then rinse off adding an additional swipe with my makeup removing cloth. Add more water to my face then wash with Cetaphil or CereVe. AnywayâŠClinique is awesome!!
I have used the Take The Day Off cleansing balm by Clinique and I love it. Definitely took off all of my makeup, even the stubborn stuff. That was the first one I ever tried and Iâve used a couple different ones since but seem to go back to the Clinique. I used the original balm by Banila Co. called Clean it Zero and got a crazy rash all over my face. A couple of their other formulas however didnât do that to me, so it was just something about that original formula.
I have dry/sensitive skin and have been using cleansing balms for a few years now and absolutely LOVE Colleen Rothschild's cleansing balm.
I love the Farmacy one, mine is almost empty. Smells like a margarita đđč
When it's done I'm on the Paula's Choice one, which is outstanding.
Sensitive skin with oily t-zone. BIG FAN of the Caudalie cleasing oil (sweet almond, castor, grape seed and sunflower oils) that turns into a milk the moment you add a bit of water in the mix. All the other stuff (micellar water from all brands) or normal milks... leave my skin either stripped or overly triggered.
Iâve also been interested in the Then I Met You cleansing balm. The high price scared me off though. But Iâm taking notes while watching this video! đ
Iâm using some facial oils before I use my regular cleansers. Iâve noticed that rosehip oil, safflower oil and oils with linoleic acid in their inci lists are very beneficial to the skin. And as you say about these cleansing balms, to let them sit and do some good for ten to fifteen minutes; thatâs what I let my oils do (sometimes even longer, depending on how much time Iâve got). And for those kind of âoil masksâ, I sometimes put a couple drops of sea buckthorn oil in the mix (The Ordinary has a very nice sea buckthorn oil and itâs very affordable too!).
I sleep with some castor oil and/or rosehip oil on my hands. I also got this âcuticle oilâ from my local dollar store, it was sold at a price point equivalent to one dollar, and I just say
WOW!! âšđșâš Seriously, itâs about 15mlâs of an oil with ingredients such as jojoba oil, argan oil, retinyl palmitate et cetera.. Yes đđđ I will definitely buy myself a few more vials of that oil the next time Iâm there. I use it as an all round beauty oil.
Thank you so much for this channel!đž
Itâs very informative yet fun and Iâve learned so much from you and Iâm so inspired. For me, skincare is therapy and it might have saved me years of therapy both in time and money. And itâs fun too đșđ Thanks!đ đ đ
Lots of love âïžđœđ
I'm so surprised the banila co clean it balm didn't make it into the list. It's so affordable, is one of the first cleansing balms i ever tried and takes all my makeup off waterproof or not. If you haven't tried it, then you absolutely must give this one a try (and they have different kinds for whatever your skin needs)
Yes! I love that one and hate take the day off!
Iâm not surprised as everything featured are overpriced and expensive. Banila is hands down best. I always go back to it.
@@rachelkirkpatrick493 yes Take the Day Off is so boring too.
And, the original âzeroâ version had minimal ingredients, including potentially irritating essential oils.
Yes!! Affordable đ. A bit pricey is Clinique use a coupon from Ulta helpsđ„°
I am a heavy makeup wearer and i use the elf makeup melting balm. Its cheap and so effective. Highly recommend it.
Thank you for this one đ I recently purchased the farmacy no scent version and I was not a fan of it . Thn i met you seems nice to try đ
I've atarted using ELF holy hydration cleansing balm mostly because of the price point and it's available at my local drugstore. As I'm in Canada so many things are online only purchases for me. I have to admit I've only tried a few but ELF is so far my favourite
Wow Dr Idriss you are reading in my mind. Im currently looking for a cleansing balm for the first time.. Ive always used micellar water but I need some change.
Thank you for all of your videos. Xo Btw you are a very beautiful woman!
I use the Clinique Take the Day Off. I received both the Farmacy ones free from my work and I still love the Clinique one.
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Shereene Idriss, following her from Greece way back and am SO sad I do not live in NY because I would definitely visit her! Me and my skin, which is oily like a McDonaldâs deep fryer. So what IÂŽve learned, water and oil do not mix. Oil attract oil, so do not be afraid of cleansing balms when you have oily skin!
I get so excited for Saturdayâs when you post!! Thank you. Dewey balms are exactly what I didnât know I needed. Thanks for providing us with a topic thatâs a breath of fresh air and a retreat, in the midst of dry-crackly-skin winter!
I am a sunscreen wearer and I reapply often. Elemis balm is the only balm that I feel gets through makeup and sunscreen. Melts it away, then I add a little water to make the cleansing milk, and wipe with a warm, soft cloth. Perfection in a jar.
Great video! Wish you also talked about which leaves the least residue behind after washing off with water!!
I adore cleansing balms. Yes, my favorite is the Clinique balm. Itâs amazing and rinses away beautifully. Iâve been experimenting with the Paulaâs choice, Good molecules, and Versed balms but Clinique still holds the top spot!!
Itâ s pity Clinique is not cruelty free, so not for me at all. But want to try Aromaticaâ s Cleansing Orange Sherbet, which happens to be vegan as well.
@@rushmiar People are allowed to have a nice product and like it. You even apparently had to seek out several comments to write this on here for the same product lol so Iâm sorry that the Clinique balm hurt you so bad that you need to try and take away joy from others for liking it or having it.
I hated the Paulas choice because it was so hard to get the last 40% of the product out of the stupid tube
Iâve been using the Elemis one for a really long time. I like that one the most with Clinique as a close second. I found the same issue with Drunk Elephant, it just didnât remove anything. Iâve tried some others but I stick to my faves now.
The Clinique one is good, but if you are looking for more affordable options, Elf Holy Hydration balm and Beauty of Joseon Radiance balm are very good, too. They don't leave a film at all, and you can be very gentle on your eye area.
As someone with combination skin prone to acne, I love cleansing balms. I use the Take the Day Off Charcoal from Clinique, and it is such a nice balm I managed to double cleanse and oil grit my nose free from sebaceous filaments. Yes, I know they're a natural structure of the skin, so I do it every other night. My skin didn't break out at all, and I noticed my serums had a tad bit more effectiveness from the extra cleansing. I wouldn't lean on using cleansing oils since I feel I'd make a big mess of myself; anyway, this video was very informative. Thanks doc.
I have dry, sensitive skin and have tried many cleansing balms to no avail (all made my skin feel almost sunburned around my eyes). I use Neutrogena light sesame formula body oil (fragrance free), which works like a charm, is cheaper, and does not irritate my skin. I also use the Mizon One Step Cleansing Water as well.
Elemis rocks the superb one !!! The only one in list that doesnât give you itchy eye, blurry vision yet it works great and makes yr skin moisturizes . Try to buy the small size if you have doubts ( $17)
While not a cleansing balm, my favorite is NIOD's Low Viscosity Cleansing Ester. It's been my go to for nearly 6 years, never irritates, no fragrance/essential oils, not to mention it's a huge bottle and one lasts me almost a full year! Not enough people are talking about this product/not aware of it and it's a shame!
I got Clinique take the day off balm as a freebie .
I wasnât sure about it but now I really like it .
Take the tiniest amount , warm it in my hands and apply to my face .
Rinse off , pat dry gently then use the redness solutions cleanser afterwards ..follow with the rest of my routine
Thanks for sharing! đ I use the one from Clinique, and like it a lot.
So many people have said this but Iâm gonna chime in and say the Clinique is def the best of the best Iâve tried. Iâve tried Elemis, Farmacy, Banila, Clean it Zero, Sunday Riley, and I always come back to Clinique cuz itâs just so good. Washes off clean while leaving the skin hydrated and just so effective
I have the elemis one and love it!!! Also the orange one superfood line really good.
Iâve used the Clinique balm for years, it breaks down really well without lumps, is fragrance free, and really effectively takes off makeup and sunscreen. Doesnât leave a residue whatsoever once washed off, and my skin usually feels really nice and clean afterward. Iâve never tried another balm because I donât feel like it could get better lol
Same! I agree. Have tried a lot and always come back to the Clinique
Iâm on the oily sensitive side, so Iâm sticking to my micellar water. But definitely will use them for my cuticles.
Great video! Would love to see the video about cleansing oils next. đ€
I use the balms for face massage also! đđ»Love the The body shop camomile balm.
All these comments are making me want the Clinique balm! Drunk Elephant was my first cleansing balm (I use a tinted sunscreen daily), and I thought it was ok for a first cleanse. I recently switched to Youth to the People Super Berry Dream Cleansing Balm. I really like it a lot and feel like it gives my skin a little more than Drunk Elephant. But Iâve really wanted to try the Then I Met You balm so I may switch it up in the coming months. âșïž
I love skin & tonicâs calm clean cleansing balm. My skin hates friction and I find using a balm means my fingers arenât rubbing directly on my skin but still removes every bit of sunscreen.
I love the Clinique TTDO balm. I have dry sensitive rosacea skin and this doesn't irritate me.
Thank you Dr Shereene. Elemis does a rosewater version of their iconic cleansing balm and this is to die for. I recommend to everyone. I also read a lot about the Then I met you balm does not leave any "blurry" feeling on the eyes when you use it (have not tested myself yet). Thank you for this video as always and I am looking forward to your next one. Xoxoxoxo, Alice
Please do a video on haircare products đđ
She has a calming presence
As a person with oily skin, I love cleansing balms and oils as first cleanse as they get all my spf and foundation/base products and remnants of eye make up off. My favs are The body shop Camellia cleansing oil or balm, Drunk Elephant Slai, the Farmacy Green clean (currently have the trio they released), or Decleor Micellar Cleaning oil or Elisabeth Arden Cleansing oil. The good molecules one is really good too but not easily available in the UK.
The Body Shop brand is the first cleansing balm I ever tried and I loved it for years! Only complaint was the container. Tried a few different brands before landing with Clinique take the day off. I really like it a lot and feel like itâs not too expensive compared to some others out there.
Great reviews ...thank you ...Clinique take the day off cleansing balm is really good also ...
Paula's Choice is a great cleansing balm. I use a bit of micellar water to start the eye make removal process. Then go in with the balm. It takes everything off including sunscreen. No need for a double cleanse. It's unscented and comes in a tube.
THE BODYSHOP one is the best one Iâve used ! And much cheaper than Clinique :)
Thank you Doctor đ©ââïž
The Beauty Of Joseon one is fragrance free and i looooove to use it and hop into the shower at night, also an oily skinned girl here!
Ive used all these except Elemis, and also many others like Elf, Im from Fig, the other Farmacy scents, Banila, Heimish and Beauty of Joseon and out of all, BoJ was my favourite for texture, effectiveness and it being non fragranced and so easy dissolve instead of having to rub them so much in your hands
Thanks for doing the research for us!
I've been waiting for this videooo! Thank you!!
I use the Elemis one sometimes. I put on dry skin while Iâm getting ready for my nighttime shower. Leave on my skin for about 5 minutes while I get ready. In the shower I rinse off. I donât cleanse a second time because I donât think itâs needed. My skin is left feeling soft and moisturized. The other thing I use it for is to clean my dirty hands and nails with a nail brush, after gardening. It does a really good job. I do use gloves when I garden but my nails still end up filthy.
Great Review! Give tried a few of these balms, but my fav is Juno, just 10 ingredients and costs just $14 for 3 oz.
combo hormonal acne prone skin here. I have been using âcleansing oil âever since I start using sunscreen n make up. And ALWAYs do double cleansing - or my combo acne skin can get whitehead/acne.
I started with many bottles of Japanese emulsifying cleansing oil. Now, I had used up many bottles of IErno Lazno cleansing oil (the original one) with their black charcoal soap .. it helps with my blackheads too!! EL cleansing system has been a stable for the past 10 years. And my mom for past 5 decades
Clinique take the day away user here!! I have very dry + sensitive skin (I have mast cell activation dysfunction) I used to love the Farmacy green clean until I became allergic around the 6th jar. I'm extremely allergic to the elemis one, it has sweet almond oil (I'm allergic to almond) and I cannot try the DE one as it has sweet almond oil. For a very sensitive skin user the clinique one is the best! it's odourless and colourless, I'm on my 5th jar and going strong!
Thank you so much for this video. I love your channel and have just subscribed. I'm using a variety of less expensive balms to see which one I like. I was using Clinique Take the Day Off, but besides it being a bit pricey, I find that it's a little gritty. I love the Physician's Formula Matcha, which is much less expensive. I'm also trying out the Neutrogena and Emilia. All available on Amazon for $11 or under. I'll try the Elf Holy Hydration Cleansing Balm and the Albolene.
Clinique take the day off cleansing balm is my fav, it was one of the first created of its kind. I have tried others, including that farmacy one and prefer the clinique still.
Love Shereene's outfits & makeup looks. Aspirational sweater game
I use the one from Clinque and absolutely love it
