Don’t say “guy” over and over……almost disrespectful
His name is Guy 🤣
Why would he call him Bob when his name is "Guy"? The moniker "Coin Guy" is a play on his name....get it?
@@RH-cv1rgyes. His name is Guy. But still, don't say it over+ over
@@shanghi1842 Better than saying Hey Dude over and over. 😋😋😋
@@shanghi1842 Okay, Pal.
'Big Brother' is already here in Europe, at least in Norway where I live. We can still use physical money but it's become more and more rare. Most people pay with their plastic cards. Banks and authorities will ask you questions if you deal with bigger amounts of bills. We're being more and more controlled, supervised.
Same here in US. All the more reason to own gold and/or silver. Keep cash alive. So far it's still a legal currency.
I bought a $10 gold back from Coin Guy (thank you Nathan). It's so nice that I've mounted it in a gold frame and hung it on my wall. Talking point for any guests to our house as it's rarely (if ever) seen here in England.
Visited the shop on Wednesday. A pleasure to meet Guy.
P.s. i bought the 50 bar. 😁
Nice! How did you enjoy his shop?
@mrsspegtacular6484 it was good. It looks bigger on camera though. Lol. I wish I had seen this video before I went. I would have bought some of those slabbed eagles.
😮
I always enjoy seeing what The Coin Guy bought recently. I'm happy that Florida got rid of their reporting and holding silver and gold. Now it's time to do like Coin Guy said and get rid of the tax. Thanks, Speg!
Love Carrol O’Conn…., errr I mean Coin Guy! Knows his stuff with a flare for storytelling.
Me and Mrs Me enjoyed our visit to Guy shop on Friday. We got to buy the rest of his 1 oz rounds. I also enjoyed meeting you.
Thanks, you too!
I started coin collecting when i was in my late teens and continue to do so today. I just enjoy going into coin shops cause you'll never know what treasures you will find at the right price. I hope to stop at my coin dealer today before work.
Glad to see Coin Guy again.
Yes Guy, you are ‘World Famous’. (I’m in Australia)
Always interesting listening to your currency knowledge.
Great show..👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
I like the way you ended your video. I'm old enough to remember when the TV stations signed off at midnight they played the Star Spangled Banner.
Here in Dixie…..they signed off with “Dixie.” No bull. God Save the South. 😊
I just paused your video tho buy that book ‘The Death of Money’. I am looking forward to a good read. I am in the UK.
You’ll have to share your thoughts on it with us after you read it 😊
Always a total pleasure and a complete honour to listen to the Great Coin Guy. Thank you.
Update to my idea from last week regarding a .999 silver weight for lifting. I put about 40lb of my silver in a small heavy duty moving box and have been doing box lifts. Stacking and building muscle.
stacking muscle
Best of both worlds!
I have over 4,000 pieces of coins from so many countries of the world and I have been looking forward to hook up with a genuine coin dealer who an buy my coins. Though it's been very difficult to find one but that won't stop me from collecting because it gives joy to do so
Coin Guy is my FAVORITE Yankee “Snowbird” coin dealer. I’d love to visit his shop. Love the interaction with Spegtacular. 😊
You should do a video on how the Hispanic population is driving a lot of the US coin market. I've worked at a coin shop my friend owns for a few years. In our area in North Georgia, probably 50 percent of our customers are Hispanic. Their culture is very into collecting coins and stacking precious metals
A few Spanish countries were/are under a dictatorship and/or communist regime. I can see them stacking metals as an attempt to not be under full control of their government (the monetary system). The Hispanic population is also a significant one. I can see it impacting a lot and precious metals/coins is just one of those.
@@Spegtacular In Spanish "coins" translates to "Monedas". Linguistically Coins and Money are the same thing in Spanish
A coin collector , not a politician in there. Coin guy hit it right on the head!
Hello Coin Guy and Hello Speg. Love when you two get together and talk coins, history, and politics.
What subject is your favorite that they discuss?
@@mrsspegtacular6484 My favorite is the history behind the coins. It gives you great insight as to how our country and world works or should I say, How it should work.
The fact that you are respectful enough to ask "May I." Even though you have a well established relationship/friendship is a true testament to your character. Thank you for the informative content!
I've just started coin collecting just brought a 1898 Nicholas II Russia silver 1 Ruble coin, Fine, 1859 "Indian Head" One Cent, Reverse VF, US 1964 'Kennedy' silver half Dollar, GF , still trying to find one with Accented Hair variety.
I have found several purses and wallets in my lifetime. I've always contacted the person they belong to and connected with them to return it. I have never turned them in because I don't trust the cops.
I wish there where more people like the coin guy in this business also wish he was in Pa. Thanks for all your knowledge and expertise .
I'm in Pa also I can't find anyone that's trustworthy and knows what there talking about
Cool and informative video. Coin guy is a knowledgeable guy and a gem of a person. I wish I had a LCS near me and guy coin the owner. Love and respect from the U.K. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
I gotta admit, I get excited when a new Coin Guy episode comes up on my feed. He really is a living encyclopedia on US coins, and I have learned so much from him. Thanks guys!
I talked to all my relatives and not one of them collect coins. No interest at all.
Maybe you can spark their interest and make it a family hobby!
@@mrsspegtacular6484 I tried, lost cause.
Love the coin guy videos. I just got into coin collecting and stacking about a year ago when I turned 30. I really love the hobby. Going to coin shops and learning from the older experts is one of the funnest parts.
The number I heard is that the FDIC only has enough money to cover 1.3% of all money in the banks. Something like that. Don't expect the government to bail you out. Prepare yourself!
Coin collecting is dying and we are killing it. Support your coin club! Share the hobby with kids.
Look at 46:30
@@SmartChannel01 yeah, he's a coin dealer. Old people 50+ collect coins (like myself and all the collectors in my local coin club). Maybe there is 1 young collector for every 30-50 old collectors..... it's sadly dying. Young people don't even use coins today.
Coin collecting is still strong in the UK, largely thanks to the media publishing articles about rare circulating coinage. However video game collecting is waaaaay stronger.
as a canadian and has canadian silver it was nice to see my coins today :)
I hope get to meet the Coin Guy. He's Awesome Man. And I want to Thank You for Awesome video and being a True Patriot and doing the Pledge of Allegiance.
Thank you for supporting my husband and his hard work 😊
I can't wait until I can afford to buy every single Morgan I come across. Those are my all-time favorite. :)
R u a bot
Any certain year you find yourself looking for? Or just the coin in general?
@@mrsspegtacular6484 Just the coin in general--probably non-slabbed ones as well. I don't feel like dropping seven million on one. Hahaha
Why does it seem that all the great Coin Dealers are hundreds of miles away from me. Dealers around Baltimore are all smucks. Coin Guy is what I consider a true American, he reminds me of my Father in Law a super guy. Now that I have buttered him up can I get free shipping?
Hoping to meet Guy at the FUN show next week.
I really enjoy you guys great job. I feel i can relate to you speg kind of in between stacker/collector. I know the way to build weight up is buy lowest premium possibe such as rounds and bars but i find my self drawn to the Morgan's and i can't stop buying them😂 even the dirty circulated ones
Always inspirational, informative, humorous and patriotic.
Thanks for supporting my husband!
Coin collecting isn’t dying. There are more and more people attending coin shows. However having said that, the coin collector has to know when a coin is going to cost to much. I’m in Canada and rarely buy from dealers in the U.S. due to the exchange rate, shipping, Canadian customs duties and taxes. For instance I purchased a reference book on Roman Republican Denarii a couple of months ago from a numismatic book seller in California. The book was $45, the shipping $55 U.S..The exchange rate was 33%, then I paid customs duties and taxes which brought the final amount to just over $150 Cdn. Because the book specialized in a specific area in numismatics I felt the cost was worth it.
The age of "great deals" for cheap is over ...
Unless you are hitting a thrift store/antique flea market, or just hitting garage sales you won't find anything that is truly a great deal that won't have some hidden cost involved!
Thanks I feel fortunate about my coin purchase here in America with it book cost plus coins retail300.00$ ?😅
The tax guarantees the government either gets a cut or keeps you from buying. It’s all about control of the market.
The Coin Guy Is Gold. Thanks SpegTacula...!!!
Thanks for watching!
If I found a horde of gold I sure as hell would not tell anyone. People are stupid!
Then how would you sell it....
Thank you both for another informative video. Gone With The Wind is a classic and a must watch for history buffs.
Memories! When I was younger my family lived in Washington State and I remember after the 4th that the streets would be so littered with fireworks that you wouldn't be able to see the road.
Because of stacking, I don’t think I’ll ever finish my Penny or Nickel collection. But that’s ok, I excepted that.
I still save all the wheat pennies and nickels dated before 1959 that I come across.
So in my opinion, I don’t think that the coin collecting hobby is dead. 👍
Keep it alive!
I keep them all up to 1981
@@TobaccoRowe1960 I’ve started to do that also 👍
@@noicue8078 ^5
@@TobaccoRowe1960 are you collecting Pennies after 1958 for Copper?
Guy made me laugh with the fireworks stories 🤣 I'm calling him on Monday about that 1880 S 64 Morgan hopefully he still has it 🙏
Let us know if you snag it!
I am an avid collector. I stack as a hedge against devaluation. I collect to keep it interesting.
What do you typically like to collect?
I put together a complete high grade Washington set from 32 to date. I do war era coins from civil war to date. Morgan’s, walkers, standing libs, Gold type sets, Flowing hair, Trade dollars, Caped Bust halves, draped bust and seated dollars. I collect whatever interests me at the moment.
I think it a wait game now for silver and gold
$29.00 is a Nice buy in my Mind , as I have been buying at $31.00 and Higher Over the Last 3 Years , Some of the Dollars I bought I Paid $50.00 for the Condition ,
I Hear that Junk Silver is $19.00 Over face at My LCS , I sure Don't consider it Junk , Constitutional Coins for Collections is what I call it . I Buy Red Books "all years" I can get them , I study and appraise a Coin before Paying for Grading , I Love Coin Collecting as much as I did as a Child Learning the Hobby , No Matter how much we think we know , we are always Learning this Hobby as there are so many Surprises , Much more fun than Some of the Other Hobbies as you get a Chance to find a Rare Coin and Buy a Nice Dinner or Who Knows you might get a Coin worth a couple of Houses just by Chance , Not too many other things can bring that kind of Joy .
Hi - love this clips with coin guy. I will be in Florida next week - so hope to visit coin guy 🙂
Who else immediately bought a copy of that book as soon as he plopped it on the counter?
Coin collecting is alive and well! It is my main focus these days while the premiums on bullion are outrageous. I love filling sets, and currently finishing up another Mercury Dime set and a Buffalo Nickel set that was started by my grandfather and I inherited. I was in my LCS the other day and was buying some coins for sets when I ran across a bunch of various date Silver Eagles. $26 a piece! Guy’s shop reminds me of my LCS. Always super fair pricing.
That’s awesome you get to finish your grandfather’s book!
@@mrsspegtacular6484 I feel like he is very happy that I am. God bless
thanks for the reminder on the reverse proof morgan set. just checked it out at the mint and placed my subscription order. last time i went to purchase it went out of stock within 3 min when it was placed it in my cart while I was checking other stuff out. Went straight to checkout this time. looks like its going to be a super cool set.
Yes we found alot of civil war era gold coins in Kentucky dubbed "The Great Hoard of Kentucky" this year like 700 coins in a cornfield. I was the "guy" that traded the 50oz JM bar for a very nice 50 pesos mexican gold coin.
Every Now and then I bring home another $25 Roll of Golden Dollar Coins.
If I need to I can always just put them back in the bank. Fireproof! and not Federal. LIBERTY Money!!!
SOON THERE WILL BE NO MONEY, THE DEPRESSION WILL MAKE IT SO NO ONE HAS ANYTHING. WE WILL HAVE TO BARTER!!
Love Silver Morgan's.I'm a born & bred New Yorker. Lived in all 5 Boro's .
Is coin collecting dead? I sure hope so. Sell your numis. I have many I need at lower prices😂♥️🐥
I Hope not if so, History is Dead.
Then when you or your kids want to sell, you'll get 30% of what you paid.
@@glanyan5462 ten year hold. Have you done numis. Like treasuries. Do both plus everything else.
The dent in the Peace Dollar was likely a wood chip, fairly common error.
Do you want to see coin shop magic??? Go to the 25:30 time mark and watch Guy reach in to his plastic container to remove a coin roll and you'll see a piece of cardboard with writing on it laying in the container magically flip itself over without being touched... Spectacular, that's spooky! Guy's a magician (or maybe it's his magnetic personality!).
Wow. It’s funny because I was thinking I’m scared to go inside because they do seem like magic shops
Speg : "What should I say?" Guy : "Say were closed" LMAO🤣
Old Silver Bar Market is Talk of the Town.
Vintage bars making new highs day after day.
Coin collecting is yesterdays game.
Who doesn't love the COIN GUY!!!
Crime, Corruption, and Corporations are what make the world go round.
Thanks for the show, I'm in Canada and we can't tax or pay tax on 999 bullion...thank God...
The BIG$ need to CONTINUE to be fined $50 million a month until the market rigging ends. What good does a fine do if it doesn't solve the problem?
If I was in the business of selling coins, the health of the hobby would concern me, but as someone who just takes part in the hobby, my only worry is if there's no longer an available supply. But let's be real: coin collecting has existed almost as long as coins, and isn't going away anytime soon. If it's in a bit of a slump that just means collectors can take advantage of good deals for a while. This too shall pass.
1919 was the last year for sterling in canadian coins, 1920-1936 old design is still 80%
All I have for a coin collection is a 1 ounce silver bar I've had for about 35 years.
JOHN HANCOCK signed so large so he said that if anyone had bad eyesight he wanted them to see his signature..
THE BAD THING ABOUT SELLING REGULAR MORGAN AND PEACE DOLLARS IS THE TWO COIN SHOPS IN MY AREA PAYS SPOT FOR THEM, 16-18.00 OR SO I'VE SEEN MY COIN SHOP CHANGE DRAMATICALLY IN JUST UNDER TWO YEARS, AND NOT FOR THE BEST EITHER!
We got rid of our one and two dollar bills and replaced them with Toonie and Loonie coins. Both are in widespread common usage. BTW, no tax on silver and gold here in Canada but you're supposed to declare any capital gains on your taxes (I don't even have receipts for most of my bullon).
I normally don't watch this long of an episode on CZcams but you kept showing nice awesome silver and gold dang it😂
I appreciate you giving it a longer-than-usual chance
Coin collecting isn’t dying. I used to wonder about the lack of young collectors myself until I figured out that (unlike me) most coin collectors don’t start collecting until they are much older…perhaps when they inherit a collection from an older relative. Lego collectors call the period between childhood Lego purchases and adult Lego collecting as their “dark ages”. Many hobbies have a similar kind of dark ages. I used to always be the youngest collector at shows…not anymore.
I've just started collecting coins. I'm 60 years old. It's got me hooked. I wish I'd discovered coin collecting when I was much younger.
I started collecting when I was 31 I'm 36 now and still get excited every time I get Change back from the store or when I pass by a coin star machine and check the reject slot
Good stuff Speg...
Just been to the mint they limited me to $5,500 !Cash no more !Today ! Talk about idiocy ! Thank you ! Still bought some went to 2 places !
Awesome can’t wait
coin guy is teasing you with those peace dollars
Hobby collecting is best done when interest is low. Not only are beautiful pieces and opportunities present, but availability is the highest as a rule. Wish I wasn't in such a tight budget or I might buy my collection back that I sold a while back when the market was screaming. (I remember the 1980/81 market. Exciting times.) (Later I bought a couple eagle/double eagles for about $250/oz or less at auction. Mad bidders who didn't get my pieces screamed at me "You'll never get your money back! You bid too high!" (I sold them a few years later and my memory was that I was not disappointed.)
I just bid a random US collection for $100. It’s mostly Pennie’s and a few toned Kennedy. There are two Lincoln Whitman books mostly filled. What should I do with them?
I was hoping there were going to be some hidden gems but is mostly Pennies….
I traditionally stack bullion at the best prices I can get,, bars and rounds. Used to buy alot of eagles also bit they are overpriced these days. However when spot price and premiums get too high, I take a break from stacking bullion and focus on numismatic coins and go back when spot and the premiums go down. I find it the best for me personally because I want to have both. It's gonna be special when I'm gone and my family finally cracks open my giant safe noone has seen inside before and will have tons of all different items to go through.. but also never put all your eggs in one basket
Somehow people went crazy over digital tokens that serve no purpose yet somehow coin collecting is dying when it is real art, and it even has practical use (money), besides the fact that silver and gold are naturally antimicrobial and now serve as medical purposes, electronic purposes, the list goes on
22:55 awesome🥈
28:35 wow!
Good show fellas. Low key and atill educational. Nice to see more numismatic stuff once in awhile, over the dozens of bullion channels available. Late happy 4th to ya.
Happy 4th of July Coin Guy
Hmm, I never noticed that the Mercury dime has a fasces on the back!
I need more Coin Guy! Weekly would be great 👍
Today regular coin usage is way down due to exact change card transactions. People seem to discard them as soon as they can, not collect them. I’m sure there are older collectors who do it for the history and nostalgia and a few for numismatic investment, but it’s dying off, as these people die, the kids inherit and are quick to sell for what they can get for them.
I have a hunch it all ends up in the deepest pockets. Real deep.
I just gave my granddaughter a 2023 Sacagawea. She also has the Jim Thorp Sacagawea Reverse Proof.
All of her Sacagawea's are in a perfect $1 Coin Round Capsule or a PCGS Graded Slab.
Tax,tax, tax. How many times! I pay $75 to register my car EVERY year. It's the same car I've had for the last ten years.
That is the government for you. They are always looking to punish, tax, and steal from the poor. Thousands of laws and rules on the books and cops only know a few that they use to harass and fine the poor and defenseless.
In the old South during the Civil War people buried their silver, silver items and gold to keep the damn Yankees from stealing it. There is no telling how much that is still buried.
We can only imagine!
@mrsspegtacular6484 most southern rich people did bury or hide their good things here in SC...that was an old joke about damn Yankees I hope everyone knows....
Very true. You read about this in all of the contemporary accounts written by Southerners who lived through the war.
Gold premiums are way lower at local coin shops than online.

I have one of those Proof Morgan's sitting on the ledge in front of me. I bought it for cheap because it just looked like a Dirty Old Morgan. I cleaned it with Rembrandt Toothpaste and POOF! it turned out to be a PROOF. I might have done a video of it. Awesome! Coin.
Love anything with Coin Guy in it. Working on filling the Dansco Morgan date set slowly but surely and unfortunately my LCS only has near cull quality or slabbed pieces so im hoping to find a good reliable source to get 1 or 2 a month moving forward and get this album filled up.
I couldn't imagine finding a hoard of gold or silver, but i think if i found one I dont think I'd tell a soul. Id slowly get the pieces graded and keep my mouth shut, unless reporting the find was to make the coins more popular/valuable.
Love the Coin Guy. Canadian sterling is 1919 and prior however, unless it is from Newfoundland...
Lol. I wish it was 500 bucks for no tax. Over here in California its 2k.
Who wants to sit around looking at stuff you can't touch or show off for fear of theft.
