I'm an atheist, but the Shroud of Turin has always been a blind spot in my atheism. Today I am currently reevaluating my stance on the existence of God. I've always said if I was presented hard proof and convincing evidence, I would do that, and this piece of linen looks to be pretty convincing to me. I have been unable to come up with an explanation as to how that image got on the cloth, which doesn't really mean very much, but there are much smarter people than me who have also tried to do this, and they too have failed.
I do try to think skeptically, but there comes a stage when you just have to accept something even it leads to your whole worldview being turned on its head.
Yes indeed, the Shroud of Turin looks like it's the proof I've been looking for that will see me reaching for my Bible and returning to church.

The shroud is not only truly unexplainable from a modern scientific standpoint, it also ecactly matches the biblical account of Christ's crucifixion, which in turn matches Isaiah's very specific prophecy about the coming messiah (which is incredible, considering crucification didn't exist in Isaiah's time).
I hope you stay on the hunt for truth and keep a soft heart along the way!

Yet at the same time, He has given us this most powerful evidence of His teachings, and Who He is. It would seem He is bolstering our faith at a time when we are most sorely in need of it.

But that's simply choice, people don't have to believe. It's like this guy he's knowingly being economical with the truth, it sounds like he knows all the answers but he's omitting the details of the Carbon Dating. The fact is that before the Oxford test they took the samples to Textile industry experts in Leeds England to make sure the samples taken would represent when tested the age of the whole shroud. The official stance of the Catholic Church is that won't say the shroud is genuine. According to this guy it's a slam dunk yet the people in charge of the shroud who've had regular updates & revaluations of the Carbon Dating won't say the shroud is genuine & see no need to get the shroud tested again.

We see in another New Testament passage that deals with then-current burial customs, and this occurred only a few miles from Jesus’ burial site. John 11:11-45 describes the resurrection of Lazarus by Jesus. Verse 44 describes in detail what Lazarus looked like when he came forth from his grave:
“The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, and let him go.’”
Even if it only specifically mentions his hands and feet, here Lazarus is bound with multiple clothes, just like Jesus was in John 20:7, with a separate napkin around his head.

I do believe that the Shroud is genuine for many scientific tests and historical facts that have corroborated its authenticity, as far as what catholics called “ the real presence” be mindful that Satan can appear as an angel of light and has deceived billions with wrong doctrines. Jesus said in John 6:35 “ I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never thirst”, also he said in John 6:63 “. The Spirit gives life, the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you they are full of the Spirit and life” so this is what Jesus meant to be nourished by him, that is by means of the Spirit of God not by means of a physical act such as eating or drinking.

Either the shroud verifies the accuracy of the Gospel story, or on the contrary the Gospel story authenticates the shroud. Neither the false shroud nor the proven inaccurate gospel pose any threat to the Christian faith (belief that Jesus of Nazareth is/is not resurrected and is/is not sent by God as his own son to "save" human kind) or for the agnostic who fears facing "proofs" of the resurrection or simply the existence of God, sole master of death and life, creator of the universe and "Father" of men. Indeed, the fact that the shroud of the historical Christ may perhaps have been preserved until our days proves absolutely nothing.

Jesus's Blood was shed for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus was entombed for three days. Jesus was raised from the dead by God. Jesus left the tomb. Jesus was seen, heard and touched by witnesses who said Jesus is alive. Jesus ascended to heaven and sat down on the right hand of God. Jesus will return to the earth. Jesus is Lord if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God has raised Him from the dead you shall be saved. Any one who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, that any one who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God is Love. Eternal life is knowing God forever. The most holy relic in all Christendom is missing in action for 1300 years then mysteriously appears in 14th C. France. Many contemporaries identify it as a forgery and a bishop in a letter to the pope even claims the forger of the Shroud had confessed. When the Shroud is finally carbon dated in the 1980s, the results place it around the 14th C., consistent with its first appearance in the historical record. The Gospels describe Jesus's burial wrapping as strips of cloth, which the Shroud certainly is not, and the New Testament writers, writing decades after Jesus's death, make no mention of a miraculous image on his burial cloth. Yet the show must go on. I'm sure within the next decade a dozen more scientific tests will point to the Shroud's inescapable authenticity.

You're about 20 years behind the actual science.
In 2005, a thermochemical engineer, named Raymond Rogers, proved the Carbon 14 dating was severely flawed. His paper proving this was peer reviewed and published in Thermochimica Acta, one of the top scientific journals in the world. He retested samples left over from the 1988 dating debacle and proved that the section the test sample was taken from had been expertly repaired with cotton, and then dyed to match the linen of the actual Shroud.
Since then, more accurate testing has been done, and it shows that the linen cloth is from the first century.

The Shroud wasn't "missing" for 1400 years. Pollen samples found on the Shroud place it in Jerusalem; and Odessa, Turkey, among other places.
The stone dust and particles found on the tip of the nose, the knees, and the feet, place it specifically in Jerusalem.
The blood patterns on the Shroud match identically in type, size, and shape with the Sudarium of Oviedo, in Spain, which has been kept in a Church there since the early 600s. Science and forensics say that the only way both cloths could have identical blood types and patterns is if they were on the exact same body.
The evidence is overwhelming that it is authentic. There is NO actual physical evidence to the contrary.

@@granmabern5283 Yeah I think being scourged, whipped, dehydrated, and forced to carry a cross big enough to support the body of a grown man for many miles, would age someone quite a bit.

Not debunking a myth. Debunking poor science

Correcting poor science is the scientific thing to do.

Most of The Science was very well performed.
Yet the C-14 testers disgraced the god efforts of the others.

Very true !! The only BAD SCIENCE is that performed by christian or Catholic aligned research institutes that have a clear bias to the shroud being authentic , and have yet to be tested and peer reviewed by independent scientists. Every single internet site that claims science "validates" the shroud is linked to or owned by a christian or Roman Catholic organization , not independent.
Successive C14 dating completed in at least three different labs in three different countries proved it was medieval.
As recently as 2018 , forensic scientists that specialize in crime scenes and blood spatter from the Liverpool John Moore University in the U.K.were able to determine that the image of the body's blood stains had been staged and did not match up with a bleeding body staying in one position for an extended period of time.
Furthermore , the recorded history of the shroud only starts in the 14th century which matches the c14 dating . Apparently the particular herringbone weave pattern of the entire cloth is consistent with a design that came about sometime in the fifth century in Italy , different to more ancient herringbone weaves. There is also apparently some evidence of pigments mixed with blood .
The debate still goes on about how the image was produced , however some advances have been made regarding this , including a crude and tedious method of a type of medieval version of a camera obscura where magnified sunlight is projected on to a body through a glass lense and then reflected by a mirror onto a piece of cloth that may have been prepared with certain natural compounds that absorb the light in varying intensities , creating a crude type of negative.
The historical evidence of the shroud also suggests it was taken to the middle east by Knights involved in the Crusades which would account for the pollens found in the cloth .
