"Nothing Can Stop Us" - T. Grose and the Varsity Ridiculous song about the 1986 Atlanta Hawks. The highlights are pretty sweet, and everyone knows that the Hawks are the best team in the NBA.
I grew up in ATL, now live in Illinois, but I'm still a true Hawks fan. Loved this tune, radio stations would play it before big games. This was when Atlanta actually cared about the Hawks, the only good team in town.
Ha ha! This video was made when I was in charge of On-Air Marketing at Turner Broadcasting. Our Art Department came up with "Atlanta's Air Force" and it instantly stuck!
Very cool. I think I saw Ted twice in this. I still have the 45 I bought when I was a kid. It’s probably very warped. 😂 Wish there was a way to get this to Shaq, who’s a major Hawks fan.
Found my vhs tape with this video a few weeks ago! One of the first things I recorded on vhs. Spring of 87. NBA was sooooo good back then. Stars on multiple teams going at it.
I loved this song. And listening to it makes me think of how many great players and teams the Atlanta Hawks have had since 1986. But at the same time they had shitty to average coaches. I always wonder if maybe Phil Jackson some how came to Atlanta. Instead of going to Chicago if he would've been able to put the final pieces together. To give Atlanta at least one NBA championship???
This is an all-timer! I've been singing this song to my 8th grade daughter on the way to school every morning for the past 2 weeks while trying to explain to her this town used to BELONG to the Hawks! I made her watch it tonight, even though she has no idea who any of these players are, except from listening to my many trips down Memory Lane. I went to Game 3 and 6 in The Omni against Boston in '88 and STILL feel the pain, but 20years later WE'RE BACK BABY!
The Hawks definitely started believing the media hype they were going to be the team to dethrone the Celtics. They believed it so much they didn't like past the Detroit Pistons and didn't even make it past the eastern semi finals. Part of the problem was they were a young with a young coach so there was not that many veterans to help them stay grounded.
The only thing missing for the Hawks is to have their games on a radio station that you can actually hear beyond the Lenox Square parking lot at night.
i know the skyline is different now. that's why it was funny. i remember when that blue domed building was one of the taller buildings in the city, and nowadays it's completely hidden behind newer skyscrapers.
ya weird al even guest appears. and check out john battle's choreography at the end. the head shake is da bomb. not to mention doc rivers as stevie wonder.
Like the Sixers with Barkley the Hawks never built a deep enough squad around Dominique. Maybe not as much as this video, but that would have been pretty scary.
Dominique, Doc Rivers, Spud Webb, Kevin Willis . What a team!
they need this to play when atlanta play at home these playoffs
IM SAYING!!!!

I remember loving this video and song when I was a teen. The Hawks rocked in the 80’s.
I still have this 45! Great song.
I was 9 back then!
Bless you, this video made my day. All I ask for is one miracle Sunday afternoon, Hawks. Nothing can stop us- Nothing!!
Someone needs to remake this for the current Hawks run!

We need to play this at the Farm after each win with this current young nucleus team.

Wtbs was the best station on tv back when we only had 12 cable channels.
Nothing can stop the Hawks right now
We’re Atlanta’s airforce🤷🏽♂️
I was 10 years old when this came out. I still remember having a Spudd Webb poster.😅

I've been here 30 years and never saw this until now. I'm from Detroit and we used to give the Hawks the business😂😂😂
This was when every sports team made a music video: Hawks, Seahawks, Mets, NY Giants, Mets, and many more.
Even the Chicago Bears made one in 1985.
Dominique Wilkins just giving with the shades on 😎

i guess the Atlanta Hawks Shuffle would have been too predictable.
lol at that atl skyline.
WGNX 46 Atlanta
NOTHING CAN STOP US! hehe
Fun Fact: They lost to the Indiana Pacers the day after filming this
Hmmm, I see my last comment was deleted :( anyway, this is one of the better team songs/videos from the time that I've seen.
I agree..it's definitely rad. Too bad for them that they couldn't live up to the song..because Boston pretty much ALWAYS stopped them lol..

Who is the band playing?
Ted Turner’s Team

The worst promotional sports video of all time? That's a giant accomplishment.
