- A studie in deformation of dragrace tires in Slowmotion at 300 and 600fps 1/10 and 1/20 of realtime (at Cramonats in Malmoe, Sweden 2010-05-28
Camera is a Casio EX F1 www.exilim.eu/euro/exilimhighs...
Music: Rev Up. Artist: Manuel and the Renegades - Auta a dopravní prostředky
1:20 It's kinda cool to see the piston order (=
Yes!
foufoufun0 yeah ur right
The wheelie bars flexing like jelly. Imagine the shock traveling back through the gearbox. .. Great vid.
A family friend of ours here in the US used to own that 57 Bel Air Pro Mod at :30. When he passed it was sold to a guy in Sweden. I just stumbled across this video and noticed his old car. Cool find!
Those cars in the vid are ultimate speedcars that specialise in pretty much havin unbelievable launch speed and it just shows how strong the engine is to actually make the tires wrinkle up.
Now we see why the tires are bolted to the rims right?
Exactly
good for offroading
Tire are bolted to rims to stop them from slipping on the rim. Not because of shake.
i liked looking at the exhaust too
And the wheely bar, looked like it was gonna fall off xD
Yeah the exhaust can you let us alone for a minute 😂
Very impressive, to see the torque and force at work during a drag race start.
Thx for sharing.
It's amazing drag cars can even stay on the track
Nec Ozzi because the road has glue on it. They put the glue on the road and burn it with a flame thrower so it could stick more.
It's amazing what takes place in half a second. Love the wheely bar shake.
This in INSANE!!! I never realized how much the tires on a drag car scrunched, twisted, and flopped around. Cool video!
Geez, that wheely bar on the Vette looked like the Tacoma-Narrows Bridge before it fell!
dead
The wheels collapsing is awesome!!
amazing stuff! how that wheelie bar didn't shake itself to bits i'll never know! some good welding there!!! thanks for posting!
I could watch this all day...
this tyre deformation stuff reminds me of the new racing sim RFactor 2, AWESOME STUFF!!
WOW... I have knows that the rubber flexes, but never knew THAT much!
Great vid.
Grandma, is that you?
mk n .
never seen this in such slow motion, cool video
the best slowmotion ever that slowmotion i like to see
the music makes this entertaining
Serious power !!! Nice filming too !
crazy cars ! insane engineering.
Nicely done
AMAZING!!!
Interesting!!! Thanks for sharing
i like your way of thinking :)
music is on point big time
WHAT IS THIS VILE NOISE I AM LISTENING TO!? MUSIC!?
@nroles87 ERW is working hard to "be". We have a light weight Kevlar jacket, carbon fiber composite hoop sprung from the wheel hub. On some protos we have the hoop suspended/sprung by pre charged "equal and opposite" drawn membranes. Applying a vacuum boost we have a suction cup force as well. ERW accumulates /returns screw force and is anit bounce because it displaces internally.
Dominic Toretto was here.
the last one was unreal
awesome video, thanks
It's as if scientists and engineers are forbidden to get anywhere near these cars.
Yea because these guys have no idea what they are doing. Rolls eyes.
***** tire shake is user error. the fuck would a scientist know that a mechanic on one of these machines would not already know.
Graham Chracker
Like F1 isn't full of scientists (aerospace engineers and stuff)
-_-
+ZERO94AIC *edumacated
palonero this isn’t f1
Looks like a street cleaner brush thing in some views. That's really cool.
Haha its been a while I came back remembering the title
@TransAmDrifter Helo! The song is: Rev-Up whith: Manuel & The Renegades you can find it here on CZcams
THATS AWESOME!
mah gawd! the power needed to make m/t's do that is fucking crazy! great video!
@Nikegtbr Helo! (Buenos dias!) The name of the, Music: Rev-Up. Artist, Manuel and The Renegades.
Hurts to watch this... lol I can feel the headache coming on.
I wonder how practical it would be to engineer a tire to not flap around wildly like that. The vibrations put a lot of stress on the parts and I'm sure there's a large amount of efficiency loss
***** that's a good point you make, I never really thought about why top fuel drag racers have those big bubble tires instead of low profile ones commonly associated with performance cars...today I learned something.
Hayden06
These cars aren't turning, they're going in a straight line. Those "big bubble tires" provide more forward traction, and the wrinkling of the sidewall is a means of controlling and applying the torque.
loooooooooool, joke of the year goes to this guy.
Most drag tires use a bead lock system where screws are actually put into the bead of the tire to hold it in place.
biting so hard it cant bite. A slight pressure change usually helps. a half a pound of air does wonders.
that's a hell of a lot of power to do that to them tires lol
tohle bych nikdy nečekal
*Hipster* "That wobble is sick!"
They don't spin off the rim because the tires are actually bolted to the rim, which is called beadlock. Slicks are also really thick and heavy so blowouts are pretty rare.
Awesome!
Even in slowmo they pull away faster than everyone in my town at a green light
Damn those tires are so *THICC*
okay so who videotaped me going to the grocery store to get groceries
that 57 chevy looked like jelly
the engine is so strong it making the tire want to cry
Amazing
This goes surprisingly well with Roll Over Beethoven
The camera is a Casio EX F1 a very nice camera. It can take movies i Full HD, high speed movies at 300-600fps. 6MP stills at a rate off 60 frames per second. etc.. Unfortunately it´s out of production, If you can find au sed one, grabb it. for more info see in, the movie description! Sincerely: MrBjare
song makes it seem like tires are dancing
Why are you all wondering what's happening to the tires and wheelie bars..?
Check out what's happening to the whole body of the car! It's shaking like it's going to fall apart!
How much brute power does that require, ehh?
It is a rather well known fact that this happens to the tires all the time, just like the body structure bending in heavy acceleration too... But seeing it in a slow motion video is just awesome, as with the naked eye you do not notice those things.
i dont know whats better, seeing the individual cylinders fire, or the tires..
does this happen everytime you peel out or is this just for really high grip tires?
neat vid
There is one more thing to look besides the tires: 1:20 look at the exhaust pipes, the smoke comes out in the same pattern as the pistons are configured.
i know, but i'm just wondering if this happens to some degree in other tires, besides underinflated hoosiers.
Now I know why they are bolted to the rims. Just crazy how it folds that tire.
Song is REV-UP - Manuel and The Renegades.
Thanks, NOT! And also no thanks to the fuckwit CZcams channel author for adding it, which basically fucked the video.
I personally think it’s fine.
its pretty crazy how much power theses drag racers put out to do that to a tire lol
Tires aren't inflated fully
They are a specialized tire for drag racing with extreme power.
DAM! thats cool
i wanna see that in F1!
2018?
I knew it happens, but never saw it in slow-mo... awesome! :D btw. What is this song? :) It's very catchy
Someone needs to make an "I heart tire krinkle" sticker.. I'd buy it..
sorry for not knowing, but what car is launching second in the video? And what is the year it was built?
Hahaha fun and i like the music :D
Damn... all that wobbling looks like it makes a TON of friction & traction loss...
bel video!
If they started earlier they wouldn't need to go so fast
Shake and bake!
There's a bit of mystery to the "tire shake" thing. They know they (top fuel dragsters and funnys) that if they get enough wheel speed which is actual spin of the tire while sitting still they can avoid tire shake but too much "wheel speed" and they tires will go up in smoke. I'm not an expert, top fuel car owner or anything like that, I learned if from talking (chatting) with guys that chief or crew on pro teams. I've also heard the exact same explination from Mike Dunn, on tv.
i was more fasciniated looking at the firing order out of the header on the sting ray
@nroles87 Ohh i get what you mean now. I was asking if the tyre ever popes as it is put under so much force and pressure.
WOWWWW
I never saw that before!!! !!
: D
That pavement isn't even pavement anymore, its just melted rubber.
Torque moves the world....
Tire deformation is very strong.
When I am gone, the last Jedi shall you be.
Im more amazed with the exhaust pipes
mmm thanks mate
cool vid
*****
LOL, you will have to forgive me my memory sucketh. But howdy friend.
it will also do 1200 frames per second. (I have one) a truly amazing gadget.
I also have an FH25 that does 120fps 640x480 (IE dvd resolution) which is a nice mode but yeah my favorite is 600fps. (I shoot rockets)
Imma get hated but... DEM CARS AH TWERKIN'!!
Mission accomplished.
thick tires and bead-locks.
why? what do they do?
it should be named the jelly wheel party instad of the drag racing
they have less pressure in the tires so they get more grip thats why
my bicycle tires do that in the morning when im late for school.
Damt! I never saw that before! Too much force. Try to imagine the drive shaft and teh others parts...
che aproposito no lo entiendo al video entendes vos a q se refiere?
lol yeah I know that but it's still a hell of a lot of power even aired down
what camera?
