Keeping this within reason here. A 25hp 9000rpm will always whoop on a 13hp 3600rpm. Basically comparing a built to the moon K20 vs a stock chevy 350. I bet if that 420 had a Torque Converter, 12T jackshaft sprocket and 42T axle sprocket geared for speed and let the torque of the engine and torque converter do their job. Itd be a different story.
seems the 420cc still hade the governor witch if removed would blow the stage 5 212cc all day long mine did 55mph with nothing done to it but remove the governor
There's a clutch on go power sports that's rated for 18 hp I believe but u have to watch the gearing either a 60t or like a 50 I'm using a 48 on some 18 tall tires and it gets warm but it's not bad

Ok first off you are killing that motor. your clutch stall should be at about 4,000 to 4,400 rpm before it grabs. you need a horstman disk clutch! then you will see how that motor does when you keep it in it's power band. Now if you are serious about real power and speed there is only one place left to go. Methanol! get a 350 tillison alcohol carb and run it on methanol. Do these 2 things and wake up that beast!!! you will be very happy. you can thank me later! i build and race these motors in the open modified class here at our local track. P.S. if after this you still need more power just stroke the shit out of it. Just dont go over a 400 stroker if you are going to still rev up to 10,000 rpm;s. cause if you go with like a 500 stroker and rev that high it will pop!every time.
That 420 is geared way too much for torque, it has good launch but unfortunately top end is lacking due to the gearing. And 420 is completely stock compared to a way expensive stage 5 built 212cc and it didn't even lose by that much which is disappointing for the 212. Take that 420 and do a stage 1 or 1.5 and gear it slightly higher you'll match the 212 or beat it for wayyy less money. 212 never been worth it to be honest

If it really was a stage 5 it would have a aftermarket head, bigger rockers, billet side cover, 22mm mikuni or bigger, oil venting, thinner head GASKET, bored and stroked block and it would run on methanol. There is no way that's a "stage 5". Stop the clickbait

What clutches are you running on these? Cuz I wanna build a 420 but the clutches I find are only rated for 13 hp, but the engines are rated for 15 hp.
I don’t know what clutch my friend is running but I’m just using the normal clutches you can find on OMB Warehouse and Go Power Sports

with a 420cc if you plan on modding it you should probably switch over to a torgue converter.

It was a set of modifications I bought for it online, you can look up stage 5 kit for a predator 212 and it’ll have everything besides a better carb

Get a torque converter instead. Much better power and torque transfer to the axle than a centrifugal... Idk why people don't go for those instead.
