Quran Translation and Commentary by Dr. Hany Atchan
When I was reading The Quran when I was 14-25 years old. I always make sure to read the translation to engage with the story, sometimes it make me cry, angry, anxious, amazed, mind blown, and most of the time it makes me laugh with happiness, but when people ask me why I laugh reading The Quran while it should be read with certain manner etc, I told them about the story and how it make me laugh but they still don't understand it and lecture me to be more respectful with the Quran. I am so happy to say I see my old self again in dr Hany and his way of engaging the Quran, it is how you should read it! Not just reading it because you are ordered by your parents or teacher, but because you read it and actually engage with the story so you could gain Knowledge and apply it when you're ever encountered with the similar situation and to steadfast our way towards Allah. InshaAllah.
I don't see why people are hating the lecturer when the main focus is to teach you to speak directly to Allah using The Quran and not any thousand others book. And we could see he is glorifying Allahh in his every lecturer, so I don't really see why anyone would be hating on this! (well, it's clearly now because most of them are the hawariyyun!)

I was reflecting upon my life with each verses you were explaining. Truly, the story of Zakaryia and Yahya is one of the many gems in the Quran which is not appreciated nor taught enough. I definitely am excited for the next parts in the series. I have come across several different interpretations about Maryam and Isa but I always keep an open mind and InShaAllah, I will found one which makes sense. Be safe and take care Dr Hany!

After discovering that Abu Lahaab is not the prophets uncle, then watching a video from a well known hadith scholars, I can see thru the nonsense! I use to love watching him and other speakers... and since doscovering marvelous quran about a year ago.... The phonetic sound of "sa maa" of Arabic and "sam muu" in Oromo language (Ethiopia) has similarities. "Sam muu" is brain in Oromo and "Sa maa" of Arabic is what would be "above". Subhan Allah, here is when I think of ayaats that states like " We revealed Quran in Arabic for those who understands". As if almost every language in the world connects to the Quranic language. I would like to inform our ummah as i have seen our Muslim community that out of 100% muslim (3 percent are hafiz of quran who only hifz the quran not understand what it really means 1 percent are aalim who only knows custom and law of islam according to their madrasa of fiqh who don't hifz the quran and 1 percent are mufti who do both but the fight of right and wrong still exists bcoz of their fiqh they really dont know or they dont want whether to follow quran o hadith or thier imam or fiqh and 95 percent muslim are those who didn't read the translation of the Holy quran forget about methodology or understanding of quran. Out of 95 percent 5 percent are those who want to learn but they learned from thier fiqh so called deobandi fazail e amaal, blind following of ahmed raza khan barelvi in india and others and it is continuously going on for more than 1000 years) .
So its really hard for dr hany and the Muslim ummah to digest what dr hany doing the interpretation and translation of the quran. I personally don't suggest you to follow anyone blindly but u can listen him for once atleast. What i like about dr. Hany is there is no intermediates between allah and us. Second quran is still open who want to recieve guidance bcoz guidance never ends and third he answered the most tricky and critical questions which quran also ask that there is a sign for those who can understand.
May Allah guides us all.

27:50 What amazes me of Dr.Hany interpretations is how his logic translations in the word 'aaqiran and many other words translated by Dr. Hany is used in current time in East Africa, specially the Hamitic speakers. As I am a Somali speaker the word " 'aaqiran " in Somali is used for when you're "stuck" or "can't proceed towards a desired goal". Note:Hamitic is a brother language to Semitic speakers. Edited for Somalis to an example of how "aaqiran" is used: "Arrintu wey aqiran'tahey"

It never made sense to me that Zakariya (as) would first make dua and then be surprised when Allah confirms his dua and question how could it be? Now it makes sense.

It is frustrating when i memorize the Ayah in Quran but did not understand what it really mean in Salah. Salamun Alaykum Dr Hany. Hopefully im one of those who voluntarily involved in this new knowledge mentioned in the Ayah.
ALHAMDULILLAH! These stories from Surah Maryam are very dear to me. Surah Maryam is one of my most favorite Surah. The traditional interpretation clearly didn't do justice to it in so many ways . Alhamdulillah for allowing us to learn the truths about the Qur'an. Watching this video was such a pleasure, relief and an encouragement to carry out the mission. I'm very excited for your upcoming videos on this series.

Educational tools for research are much more available and highly advanced nowadays than before. It is therefore not surprising to discover new information contrary to what was believed 1000 years ago.

No problem with that, and I have even discussed this specific issue in a video titled "Do we need to reinterpret the whole Quran?"...
I have 3 problems:
1. Some scholars in our tradition did not hesitate to copy from the corrupted scriptures, and considered that a virtue.
3. They did not hesitate to give their personal opinion even without a shred of evidence
3. There are people called Salafis, today, who keep beating us over the head that we must shut up and listen to people who dies 1200-1300 years ago.
Finally: Be aware that I don't believe at all that the names of people to whom these old books of Tafseer are attributed, were actually written by these same people. In fact, we have absolutely no historical evidence including any original manuscripts, or even manuscripts that go back to a century of the life of the claimed authors.

SubhanAllah....you begin to think and have questions even if you just read the English translation and commentary. Picking up the meaning of a word here and there, such as, Ghulam as young man, it lead to more questions or confusion. Alhamdulilah that had been cleared.
I am beginning to guess and think about the similar ayats one in reference to Yahya (AS) and other for Isa (AS) about the birth, death, coming back to life. Look forward to the other segments.

Her zuriyat (children)? Perhaps link to Musa and Harun?
Was Yahya Musa (at-Tur)? Or was he the one died 100yrs? Or was he 'the issa'? Or was he just another different nabiy?

You explaining 19:8 made me think that Zakariya was in imminent danger. Like the elders knew that he knew that they were corrupting and were muttering his name (negatively) in circles. I genuinely feel afraid for him here, and can feel the eagerness in his du'a for a ghulam.

Absolutley Marvelous...I am shocked and weeping with this realisation..but also angry at the same time that all these years all the interpretors did not do justice to the words of God. I saw this segment when I first subscribed to channel and website. Now I am refreshing all segments in sequence. Obviously it is much clearer now then when I saw first. Quran is all interconnected but Allah don’t reveal to those who follow intermediaries. Also one don’t need to know Arabic language as He will make resources for any one to understand who is willing to submit to Him alone.
