Maybe because I am not invested in the song, it's never been a favorite, I didn't have any issues with the arrangement that he did on this one. In fact, the arrangement is the best thing about it. And if you'll notice, Geoff almost always tries to put something upbeat or hopeful in his solo pieces. I think it's just part of his personality.
What I also appreciated was the homage he made to the original video. John's was all white - clothing, furniture, walls, curtains, even the piano. Geoff did his in a house with white walls and curtains, but the natural wood piano, the orange chair, his clothing, and that amazing beamed wooden ceiling made it just enough difference.
