1983 I was 11 and I was too old for Cabbage Patch Kids (I couldn't stand them). Hot Wheels die cast cars, Atari & Activision games, Scratch N Sniff stickers, and my favorite, Star Wars figures, ruled my life in 1983. Oh, and I still have my cars!

It was a crazy time with those darn dolls, lol. I loved Scratch n Sniff stickers...and collecting and trading them. Star Wars was at the center of my toy life right there at the start of the 80s....and probably most kids. Thank you for sharing and watching.

I generally am not that disgusting of a guy...not even as a kid...BUT, I loved the humor, the wit, and the puns. Those Garbage Pail Kids were hilarious.

I collected Garbage Pail Kids cards in the mid 80s. Very creative, cool cards like Topps Wacky Packages!

My main memory of these dolls aside from the fist fights was one place in particular that my mom and I frequented. It was a place called Hobby City in Anaheim, Ca. and there was a Cabbage Patch Kid store that was always packed. And the funniest part was they had it set up like a hospital complete with employees in nurses uniforms. You would walk in and pick out a doll and after you did the whole 'adoption' thing, the nurse would carry it like a baby to your car. I was 13 when they came out and I had zero interest but knew plenty of kids that had them.

Wow, that is amazing. Besides the Babyland General CBK hospital I had no idea that Anaheim, or anywhere, did something like that. It is cool you experienced it, but I get it....why, right!?

Jim Henson had kids in a garden that looked just like cabbage patch doll. This was before the cabbage patch doll came out. It was made from foam and nylon like from pantyhose. Why he never sued I can't figure out. It was on the Muppet show BTW.

I totally remember those. As a matter of fact I think I remember them in some form in the Muppets Take Manhattan, but I bet they will be familiar on the Muppet Show, too. YOu're right though...why not legal action. Hmmmmmm

My mom got us some of those dolls that Christmas, I think she easily got 1 or 2 from the store and then purchased some that people had posted in the news paper. I still have mine.

I still remember the names of mine😂 Emeline Claire, Brant Christopher, and Charma Estra. Brant and Charma were Preemies. I also had a dog Koosas.
When kids returned from the holidays in Jan ‘84, every girl in class had a doll sitting on their lap in my classroom. My teacher eventually banned them because they were causing too much distraction.

Banned in school! I can see that. My class was filled with them being brought to school and they were everywhere. Wonder if they did that too. I remember Koosas. Nice little off shoot. Oh, and those are great names.! Thanks for watching.

@@GENXPERIENCE another funny story. Summer of ‘84, my family went camping and I invited my best friend to join us. When we picked her up, she had a huge garbage bag full of clothes with her…the big black kind meant for outdoors. The bag was FULL of clothes for her cabbage patch kids, which we had brought with us. My dad was so mad because we didn’t have a lot of room😂

I knew that was very popular, but didn't know just how popular. But from what I remember, I can see people going wild to make sure they git one. Always wanted to get into Lazer Tag. And I loved their commercials. Appreciate the views.
