I had a couple of the omnibots. They were too small to sell as regular autobot cars, but too big to sell as minibots, so since there was only three of them, Hasbro just sold them as mail-order toys.

Zodiac was my least favorite but most played with character. Who was this guy? He was neither good nor bad? A cosmic enforcer? Okay. With that amount of anonymity he fit in to almost any storyline. Actually the only thing that bugged me about him was they used the same clawed feet as skeletor, but they left them flesh colored and it did not look right.

You missed quite a few. Archie's TV Funnies featured Dick Tracy, Moon Mullins, Smokey Stover, Nancy (& Sluggo), Broom Hilda, Emmy Lou, The Dropouts and The Captain & The Kids (The Katzenjammer Kids) in 1971 and later included Alley Oop and Tumbleweeds (for one episode) on The Fabulous Funnies in 1978. Dennis The Menace, The Wizard Of ID and Miss Peach were animated segments on The Curiosity Shop in 1971. Fred Basset had an animated series in the UK in 1976. Morrie Turner's Wee Pals became Kid Power in 1972 on ABC. ABC's Saturday Superstar Movie featured an episode called "Popeye Meets The Man Who Hated Laughter" which featured other King Features characters (Blondie & Dagwood, Barney Google & Snuffy Smith, Beetle Bailey, Jiggs & Maggie from Bringing Up Father, Henry, Hi & Lois, The Katzenjammer Kids, Little Iodine, The Little King, Quincy, Steve Canyon, Tiger, Tim Tyler of Tim Tyler's Luck. Prince Valiant and the very first appearance of The Defenders Of The Earth with Flash Gordon, Mandrake The Magician, Lothar and The Phantom). Plus: Ripley's Believe It Or Not! (1998) King Features Trilogy with Beetle Bailey, Snuffy Smith & Krazy Kat (1963) Animal Crackers (1997) Baby Blues (2000) Dilbert (1999) For Better Or For Worse (2000) Mother Goose & Grimm / Grimmy (1991) The Legend of Prince Valiant (1991) Phantom 2040 (1994) Flash Gordon (1996) The Boondocks (2005) Other comic strip characters have had animated primetime specials like: Cathy (1987, 1988 & 1989) Beetle Bailey (1989) Blondie & Dagwood (1987 & 1989) Hagar The Horrible (1989) The Far Side (1994 & 1997) Doonesbury (1977) Marvin (1989) B.C. (1973 & 1981) The Family Circus (1978, 1979 & 1982) Ziggy (1982) Little Orphan Annie (1995) Pogo (1969) Dennis The Menace (1981) The Fantastic Funnies (1980), hosted by Loni Anderson featured animated shorts of Dennis The Menace, Barney Google, B.C., Andy Capp, Blondie & Dagwood, Doonesbury, Momma, Hagar The Horrible, Cathy, Broom Hilda, Tumbleweeds, Marmaduke (before his 1981 series with Heathcliff), a clip from the "I Go Pogo" movie and the very first Garfield animated short voiced by the late Scott Beach, who was the original voice of Garfield in 1980 before Lorenzo Music first voiced him in "Here Comes Garfield" in 1982. Fun Facts: Lil Abner appeared in a series of animated cartoons beginning in 1944 before The New Shmoo first appeared on NBC's Fred & Barney Meet The Shmoo (previously Fred & Barney Meet The Thing in 1979). Little Orphan Annie appeared in two live action movies starring Mitzi Green (1932) and Ann Gillis (1938) before Aileen Quinn played "Annie" in 1982. A lot of those were Comic Books and DID NOT appear as Comic Strips in the newspaper, or were Comic Books before they were strips...so in that case they did not fit my parameters. But they are good ones for a whole other show. Also, your list is really going outside of Saturday Morning Cartoons made from Comic Strips, so maybe you got a little confused of the theme of the show. Not to mention so many of those are out of The GEN Experience and into new generations. But there is a lot of info to pack in there.

Interesting and wonderful that all the primetime Superheroes of the 70s are still with us. The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman and the Incredible Hulk!

I started to notice that, too. It made me feel good.

I remember the Navarone Giant Play Set. I didn't have one, but a friend did. The Family Tree House was cool also. My cousin had the Death Star Space Station. I always wanted that one for the obvious Star Wars fanboy reasons!

My brother had the Death Star...so I made it mine, lol. Yeah, it was just awesome.

Great video! I grew up on Star Wars (like most boys) and never owned any of these but knew of several. I remember a neighbor had a Shogun Warrior and I thought it AMAZING! Honorable mention for me: Crystar from Remco (1983). Because I had Crystar and Warbow but always wanted them all!

Crystar is popular, I don't remember it at all, but I do love being introduced to something new. Thank you so much.

0:45 There were only 72 vintage MOTU figures? Not as many as I expected. I had just three. I was born a little too late for MOTU. They were present on the playground, but were just about to be supplanted by the next big thing, my main nostalgic childhood franchise; The Transformers. The Filmation style of the MOTU cartoon already seemed dated to me back then, when compared to other sci-fi fantasy series like Thundercats, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, or The Mighty Orbots. I do have enough fondness for the characters to have a small MOTU collection though. 5 Origins figures, plus the main cast from the Club Greyskull Ultimates (cartoon style) line. Just missing Evil-Lyn. 😬

I still love how you honor them and that small connection you had to them. Yeah, there were not as many MOTU as GI JOE or Transformers. I was there for their debut so I have a big emotional connection. Transformers came out 2 years later, and they did take over my love, too. Thanks for watching and sharing.

I've seen those Tops characters in toy shops and shows, i never knew they were MotU.. crazy. I kinda drifted away from MotU after the movie. Not because of the movie, lol, i was just getting into new things

    • @GENXPERIENCE
      @GENXPERIENCE Před 2 dny

I can understand not seeing them as MOTU, I certainly didn't. The MOTU movie was there last hurrah for me. I was too old for toys (at that time, lol), and the movie was just a ball of crazy. Thank you for watching and commenting.

  • @christopherrobinmarriott7218

A grown man that collects toys: I TOTALLY get that. It’s cool. A grown man that says “that’s fire”: NOT cool. Totally NOT tubular. So UNradical

the patchouly oil was actually used as a portion of the oil in the plastic of the arms and legs, mine is still pungent 40 years later

Moss Man lost his pine scent within a year because it was just perfume. But stinkor's patchouli persists to this day because it's literally part of the plastic

I worked at the Moline, IL Holidome from '92-'96. Some of the greatest memories of my life happened there. Sadly, it became a Ramada in the early 2000's and was torn down around 2015. 329 rooms, restaurant, lounge, airport convention center, two indoor pools, hot tub, finess room, arcade, mini basketball court, nine hole put-put golf, ping pong tables, and seven hot-tub suites. Never to be equaled or replaced, in my opinion. "Thank you for calling the Moline, IL Holiday Inn Airport Convention Center. How may I direct your call?"

Thank you so much for sharing this. So few people seem to have the memories that I, and you, both share. I didn't work there, but boy was that something. My parents getting a room right on the edge of all the action. To a kid it was endless surprises. LOL, love the greeting at the end...I can almost hear you doing it with a smile in your voice.

11:48 That was the whole appeal of Kenner's speeder bike from ROTJ. Just to keep crashing into stuff and blowing it up, via button press.

I lost interest in MOTU when Hordak came along. The figures kinda went off the rails into silly territory and felt like a desperate attempt to stay relevant.

I did love the Horde's first figures: Grizzlor, Leech, etc...but it is true, that is what was going on. I just thought when they went all Snake Men.

I had Barbie's, and it would make me mad that most of the Mego figures were much shorter, meaning she had very few options for a date that looked right, lol

LOL. Well, they were trying to stay relevant and keep up with those others. But at least MOTU was the trend setter...it just couldn't last. Thanks for the watch.
