How to Manage and Style Curly Hair (3 Types) | GQ - Jak na to + styl
“Conditioner reveals your natural texture, styling products capture your natural texture”1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣
That's the same thing?
@@UkbunemalYokanlush Conditioner wakes your hair up & styling products are like coffee.
@@isvvx You also tried to be poetic while simultaneously not saying anything. Congratz
@@UkbunemalYokanlush I wasn’t trying to be poetic, I used an analogy/gave an example of how they aren’t the same.
what does that mean?
I appreciate the fact this feels meant for guys.
Ya I love it cuz normaly most curly hair vids are girls
100%
I have hair slightly less wavy/curly than the first guy and was struggling with finding something about how to manage it. This really helped!
Well GQ is targeted towards men

As someone who’s been growing out their hair since quarantine this is a life saver!
Same

Universe heard your thoughts bro
Man!
do u know where to buy it
This guy is really good at explaining everything. He just got a new fan!
👴🏿I bought a new fan last summer but it’s broken now, so I also need a new fan.
This was very insightful. Definitely going to try the 4C wash routine
Hope it goes well!
Yeah same but with the 3 types
for even better results yu can apply the products in smaller sections
Are the products they advertising the normal amount someone should be spending on hair products? Each of them selling like $30-50 each and I'm not sure whether I should get them or not since I ain't really put too much time or money into hair products before. Also what should the hair routine look like on the days when I'm not shampooing?
@@created3612 you definitely dont need to spend that much
Really good video GQ , love having someone talk about these hair types in a respectful way especially on this channel. And I’m sure so many guys needed this
I like that he used “kinky/coily” instead of “nappy” to describe 4 textured hair. Nappy has such a negative connotation. 💯
But it is nappy
@@independenceboyd2042 no nappy implies it’s unkempt but if that’s how their hair grows it’s not nappy at all
@@jmansanime technically they all had nappy hair for the vid because they were doing a before and after so it wouldn’t be offensive
@@jmansanime I’ve never heard this definition of nappy?? This is new to me. Nappy headed is definitely a negative insult to texture
@@E_MZ_ yea that’s what I was saying like nappy is def negative
I like that men were used as models.

Why? Lol
I’m so glad that this video was done it shows ethnic people that you can take care of your hair independently that it is possible!!!
You are so right! All thru the pandemic people saying ethnic hair textures are so hard to manage and salons needed to be open etc. NO. YOU CAN MANAGE YOUR OWN HAIR.
Ethnic people?
@@BA-dt7mq - Idk if you noticed but....All of the guys featured in this video are POC (people of color).
That’s dumb asf you can be white with curls too loool
@@driveby9536 - Ok...But white hair and black hair are completely different. We have multiple grades of texture, depth, and each requires a different level of care (as this video clearly highlighted). And while I can't sit here and say anything about how white hair works, I know that as a black man with a natural hair, there's a lot that I have to do with my hair that a white person doesn't. Do white men have to water their hair every night and wear a satin lined cap when they sleep to keep moisture locked in? Do white men have to oil their hair, apply leave in conditioners, and be sure to use the right shampoo for their particular grade?
I'm not saying that they don't, but I am saying that we do.
This is way better than those ppl who post random videos in their bathrooms about how to get curly hair. He's a professional and actually knows what he's doing and how to do it!
“So called hard to manage textures” bro woke up and chose violence
It is hard to manage but certainly worth it
It's true unfortunately. Curly hair in general requires more care than straight ones.
Those type of hair needs the most attention too.
But at the end it comes out looking hella good 👌🏽 So it’s worth the time
@@icebear4839 facts love it
"Conditioner is there to serve one purpose": lists three purposes.
I read this comment in my head at the exact same time I heard it in the video
Which type of hair treatment you used for kinki hair?
This video is a true treasure, my hair is around a 3c and 4a but mostly 3c and it really helped me how to manage my hair a lil, any more tips please, new sub here!!
I'm the type 4 guy hair texture... and that's what my hair looks like when I'm done! So now i know that I'm doing it right
What products do you use? I need a styling product and oh I have low porosity hair 🥹
@@Kevin4M3I also have low porosity
Finally there are videos for curly hair and textured thick curly hair! There's variety in the curly gang! But after watching this video I feel like my hair is in between the first two models...I never see anyone with my hair 😭 but I've learned to take care of them!
I appreciate this segment so much!!! I’m a cosmetologist and I’m definitely not seeing enough education for Men’s curly hair.
My boyfriend has curly silky hair and me having smooth straight hair have NO idea how to help him take care of it (he recently started growing it out)
@@paopassan6061 possibly a good leave in conditioner could be a great start. Keeps curls moisturized and leave in conditioner wouldn’t be too matte or too shiny. I wouldn’t dry curly hair with a regular towel. It would be better with an old clean T-shirt. And whatever you do DONT BRUSH IT. Use a wide tooth comb
I LIKE HOW YOU WERE HELPING TO WASH THEIR HAIR BUT ALLOWING THE MEN TO HANDLE PUTTING IN THE PRODUCTS IN THEIR OWN HAIR AND MANAGING IT.
Thank you for really breaking down the difference in curly hair type pattern in a simplistic way. I’m finally able to gather with this info that I have 3c hair type when it’s natural.
I watched this ENTIRE VIDEO!!! It was so informative, and the stylist made everything so very interesting! Bravo to you! I loved this!
This guy has been doing my curls since I was 16, he helped me on my curl journey and I love his product
Loved this. It reminds me of the basics. I've gotten so caught up with new products over the years. Thanks for the information 👍
this is awesome! You should do a video on hair cutting techniques for these hair types. I feel like most "barbers" don't know how to actually cut hair styles for tighter textures. they give us the same 2/3 shapes and options, when there are in reality a lot of ways to cut tight her to enhance shape, style and aesthetic. ( Like Deva/ Rezo, but for men)
This one is so much more simpler than the ones directed towards women. Had to come back and watch again.
Wow I’ve learn more in the last few minutes than I have in the last few months with trying to style and understand my 4c hair. Thanks a lot for your insight and tips!
I’m a 3C and this video really hit the nail on the head… informative, especially when he said co~wash throughout the week!!! Another good shampoo / line is Texture ID.. it’s moisturizing and won’t strip your hair completely and the conditioner has multiple uses..
I appreciate that he is showing all textures and not just Type 2 hair!! Great job!
This was such a great video! I'm so glad GQ did this!
This was a well executed class. Learned so much
This is the info we need. For the community and with the community. We love it
I been dealing with my hair forever and never understanding how it worked and another videos out there don’t explain it like how you did. Thank you soo much!!!❤❤❤
This is so satisfying to watch. Everyone's hair turned out beautiful!
Finally. A stylist who doesn't ignore curly guys
Y'all finally dropped a video I can relate to thank you
i’m SOOO GLAD i found this video. As a guy with a wavy 2c-3a mix hair, i found this video very helpful!
This was gold, he made me understand what he was doing, almost like a science, especially the part about water making you see your curl pattern and styling products lock it in.
Dickey is my stylist and has taught me so much about how to care for my hair (that is somewhere btw curly & kinky). Awesome tutorial!
Do you know any products for low porosity & I have 4C hair
Someone who’s starting to grow their hair this is a must watch
Me right now lmao
Video was needed especially myself as a African American i get confused on what to use and not use. Perfect video that educates the right process of high performance for your your hair 💪
I've been looking all over CZcams for a video like this and this happened to be in my recommended. This is great
I did not know what my hair texture Was before this video it was definitely resourceful. I wish we could have more videos like this
Thank you so much for this video!! I hope this inspires more professionals to dig deeper into these topics. There is a shortage of credible information on CZcams for people with textured hair.
I love watching guys enjoy their natural beauty
Finally helpful advice for my hair!!! So many tips I’ve never heard before!
I just learned more in this video than I ever have at a barber or salon. Much appreciated ❤
I remember not ever washing or conditioning my hair and it was straight dead and bland and straight until I started using products and taking care of my hair and since doing that I had beautiful amazing curls that I never knew about.
Anthony dickey is a legend and helped me learn how to manage my hair with ease. I'll forever be grateful for him
This is the coolest video that I have seen to date. The men are actually doing the hair steps themselves. Yall go ahead, GQ!
10:10 the shaking method helps separate single curls ✊🏿
I am in a middle ground between wavy and curly hair and its super frizzy so this is really helpful
got the same hair as the second dude as was hella frustrated cause i just didnt know how to style it to get that look, was planning on cutting it off end of august, glad this popped up in the recommendations!
This is very important! Love you GQ!
Best explanation and demonstration on how I can finally wear my natural 3c and NOT look like a hot mess, lol. This is terrific.
Anthony Dickey's wash and go method for type 4 hair helped me to get the perfect wash and go. I now have curls and coils I never knew I had ☺️
Literally same
This man changed my life. Omg thank you duckies. Shout-out forreal. 1st time in my life I've been able to wear my hair out and retain moisture and length. 👑 💞
This was the best hair video I seen in a while. I’m definitely gonna have to get them products especially that shampoo bc all the shampoos just tangle and matte up my hair and makes it unmanageable but the products used in this video seem promising
Oh wooowww!! My son has 4C hair and it's so hard for it to stay moisturized and curled. I will definitely be doing this on him. Thank you
This video is just what I needed for my teenage son. Was clueless about how to care for his afro. Now I just have to figure out his texture. It's between the last two most definitely. We will just have to experiment. Thank you so much!!! ❤
braid/twist or define his natural curls
now why didn't u teach him how to take care of hair when he was a chile. should do the same for shaving his beard because shaving afro hair ain't the same as others.
Finally , I found someone similar to my hair type ,Wavy loose curls with a lot frizz . I will try your method.
I have the same hair as the first guy and didn’t know how to maintain it but now I do thank you!!!
More of this type of content please!!!
I have truly been wowed! Thanks for sharing I learned a lot… I wish I was doing all of this when I had locs!
Omg beautifullllll! So in love with this... The 2nd boy has hair just like my son's and I cannot wait to try these products like he said. And the 3rd man has hair alot like my own but mine is much finer( thinner) and never ever have I had my coils look like that so I'm on this asap. Googling and ordering this product line RIGHT now
I love all of their hair. Great video ❤️
Nicely Done !!
As a male with 3C hair, I approve this message
Needed this, Thankyou
I planned on washing my hair today. I'll be trying this with my Pattern products.
I can’t believe some people refuse to wet their hair if it’s dry. Your hair loves moisture. It’s basically telling you to do it. Lol
in a pool or at a beach is different tho cuz salt and chlorine dry out ur hair also some ppl dont like to waste product they already put in but yea ur right
@@wallywest6795 wetting your hair has nothing to do with wasting product unless you rinse out your hair.
@JOHNNA CLAUDE ??? How tf does your hair shrink after you wet it my hair only shrinks after it drys I don’t mean to be rude but I’m genuinely confused.
@@ShyneSel lol that’s the thing you wet it then it dries and shrinks
@@ShyneSel look up 4 type hair. Our hair soaks up all of that yummy water and shrinks, this is why Afros always look short, meanwhile if you stretch a strand it’s a foot long
As a guy with hair like the first dude. This amazing information thank you
Needed this, now I need those products
Thanks for the video. Ive been growing my hair the first time in my life the last couple years. Didnt know i had fine hair. Most of my hair is like the first guy except curlier, but theres a section of my hair that has texture like the second guy. I appreciate you helping me with what to do.
He snapped on this 🔥 joint
This was awesome
Wonderful video! We need more of these.
This has been crazy helpful
Ngl the before pic in the thumbnail look fine tho
It was fine this just showing another way
Wish i knew this 5 years ago. Now i know how to take care of my natural hair
I have been needing this video I got 3c and have been trying to find a good tutorial on how to properly style it
Really appreciate this video my boyfriend has been struggling on how to take care of his hair and I just thought I should give him his well deserved spa day or make over which ever you would like to call it :D I definitely will be buying those products for him.
i'm impressed.
Thank you!!!!!
Needed this, good info
Great to see some more light on how to manage guys hair. Very helpful
Shout out to GQ for dropping this!!!!!
Last guys coils were beautiful
Girl, your channel is giving me LIFE. ❤
I need that blow dryer!!! Wow gotta try this. Im a 3c i always struggle with keeping the hair defined and moisturized
Thank you for this!
Curly hair is just beautiful
loved this video, thank you GQ
I appreciate the content finally some good recommended products
I see what your doing GQ and I appreciate it ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
This guy saved my life. I was so close to cutting my hair shorter cuz I had no idea how to manage
Omg me too, I need to buy those products
Great vid!!! Need more of these ....
This is exactly what I needed!
Dope!!!
Good of GQ to put up a video of curly textures years after the natural hair movement. Glad they caught on lol
Dickey is a OG in the game… I love this for him 😍😍😍
ive been doing the stuff in this vid for a couple yrs now and hes 100% right
