The curly hair journey really is a marathon and not a sprint! I've been wearing my natural curls for around 2 years after straightening the poor things to death for over a decade, and I'm still learning the best products and ways to look after and nourish them.

I’m Filipino too, only one with curly hair in the whole family. I’ve learned to accept my long curls are bad ass even tho the other guys in my family don’t have hair longer then a few inches.
my mom has curls, my dad and brother straight hair. I always joke with my mom how their hair (my dad and bro) is "actually inferior" xD

Number 3! My grandmother was one of those who ‘had her hair done’ several times a month, but she maintained her do with a head scarf and silk pillow cases. She travelled/visited everywhere with her own pillow. Not for her neck. Not for hygiene. For her hair. ❤️❤️ I miss her 😊

This video gives me life. Jonathan is such a wholesome human being. Loving my curly hair has been a journey as all the woman in my family have always pushed for chemically straightening their hair and just never embraced their curls. I love seeing videos like this.
You are literally the only person in this world that makes me appreciate and actually love my curly hair and be proud to have it. I used to chemically straighten it for over 15 years and recently just stopped. So trying to get my hair all back to natural. Over a year heat free and im atill figuring it out, but what i can say is my new hair growth is softer and looks smoother so i do see healthier hair
Your JVN products are exactly what I've wanted for my thick, wavy hair. Never like silicones and absolutely hated polyquats, but with JVN my hair feels so soft and looks so shiny, and my scalp is happy too. I love the Queer Eye anecdote! I remember a few years ago seeing that beachy wave/flat iron curls were becoming a norm in tv exactly because it was easier to hide “changes” between shots than with stick straight hair that was less forgiving when something was out of place.

I really appreciate the tips!!! I’ve always had poker straight hair until literally 2 weeks ago when my hair suddenly became curly! Im 41 years young and have recently gone through some hardcore hormonal changes and I believe this is why my hair is curly. It’s been rough health-wise, but I’m absolutely loving my curly hair!! I have 4b hair.
1) I use everything *_PANTENE!_* Shout out to *_Dollarama!_*
2) I do not wash my hair every day. It's too much.
3) I do "Sets". It makes the locked locks... Calm down.
4) I love *_Shea butter!_*
5) This is so important. You can't just use *_Dove 3-in-1._* You need to rinse, use multiple cleaning products, then use a blow dry spray, then a curl enhancer.
6) My hair is heavy enough.
7) Sets is a skill. Learn how to *_Finger comb!_*
8) I wouldn't trade my hair for anything!

as a person who is trying to grow out their fried damaged hair to get my waves/curls back I loved this video, great tips! No matter what I do to my mids and ends right now my hair won't curl well because it is so, so fried. But my roots do curl nicely so one day I'll get back to it. (btw I love how you include us, wavy folks! my hair is a 2B-3A depending on the weather)

Loving the nurture range for my curls. My curls prefer a cream followed by gel and I use a Denman brush to create ringlets, which I break up when dry. I love the fragrance, subtle and natural. I hate strong artificial smells in products. I’m autistic and have sensory differences. I like JVN because it’s subtly fruity.

Guurl, this is the exact video I needed in my life right now! Having covid last year caused me to lose about half my hair and turned the hair I had left all crazy wavy/curly. Thought it was a fluke until I saw the new hair that was growing back was also growing back in full curl/wavy mode! Like my hair woke up one day and decided to live its best life 😆. I had bone straight hair before so these new waves got me confused AF. Soooo glad I at least have a place to start now to make it less of a hot mess LOL

I have to tell you how much I enjoyed this video. 🤗This is the first time seeing you and you are so informative and just FUN to watch. I am 51 years old (geez, when did THAT happen?) with thin, straight hair. I haven't colored or permed in at least 30 years but was convinced by my stylist to perm it for more volume. Today is Day 2 and I'm kinda freaking out with these "soft, loose spiral" curls. Really appreciate your breakdown of applying products and praying I love it and don't have frizz once I can wash & style it.

This is a perfect line up of tips for curly hair. My mother taught me these (except for the sulfate tip, i had to learn that from my hairdresser bff) as a kiddo who had long curly hair and now I'm trying to break the straight iron habit of my own daughter while I teach her how to take care of her long curly hair. Especially the one about wearing a cap to bed, I find using my man's oldest and softest t-shirts and wrapping them tightly around my hair while I sleep works so well, I do this on wash days.
