- Crunchy, cheesy, and just down right delicious is all I can say about these tacos. When I first saw these made on America's Test Kitchen I knew I had to remake these on the Blackstone griddle.

Hola! Great good job, Americano! Just so you know, "tacos dorados" were the only style taco known in the USA and came with those from the northern States of Sonora, Chihuahua and Coahuila, fleeing the Mexican Revolution (Pancho Villa) of 1912-1920. Jack in the Box and Titos Tacos still serves a type of Dorado here in So. Calif. Dorados are now making a come-back by street vendors. Soft tacos, from southern Mexico, where flour tortillas and grilled tacos are a rarity, started to make an appearance in the USA, 20-40 years ago when foodies discovered them on vacation in the Southern Mexico beach resorts.
Helpful hint: Use grated potato to the beef as a binder instead of cheese, as you cook. Some kitchens use refried beans . Seasoning is key at this point. Both are great. Add grated cheese and crema as a topping.
Also... a Quesadilla should Never, EVER contain meat. A high quality Queso, is Queen in a quesadilla. The bridesmaids are alway grilled mushrooms, zucchini, nopal, shredded cabbage, any vegetable.
And... Find yourself a good cooked salsa recipe. Cholula is perfect for the lunchbox or glovebox. Buen provecho, ya'll!
Love this!! Thanks for sharing this information!
Had no idea a quesadilla shouldn't contain meat, i do love a good mushroom quesadilla,
Been eating them in San Antonio, Texas since the arrival of the taco to the USA. We make them ourselves, typically, though many restaurants here also make them.
So this is sort of interesting. My father grew up in southern california in the late 40s to early 60s, and learned to fry corn tortillas for tacos from a Mexican girlfriend's mother. He taught me to cook tortillas the same way and I taught my wife to do the same. My wife, who is from the east coast and knew nothing of Mexican cooking, decided to start making the taco filling her way, which was frying onions, add in the beef and seasoning, and then add beans, both whole or refried as a binder. add cheese and hot sauce at the end. Little did we know that her method was apparently more authentic tacos dorados? thank you for the added information!
Hey. Thanks for this info! Much appreciated.
I'm from Mexico and we prepare those ones every other week, are delicious... you can also prepare them with chicken... if you are on a lazy day can use rotisserie chicken leftovers to prepare them, some avocado, onion, and tomato, homemade salsa and tastes delicious!
I love these so much. I couldn't stop eating them! Nice tip too on the chicken and rotisserie chicken.
"homemade salsa"
hey, you said lazy....
@@jeremyd.2156 I prepare salsa for the whole week 😉; as Mexican we eat salsa on almost every meal 😀
@@josmty9 What's your best all-around salsa recipe if you would be so kind as to share?
I appreciate your input. Had a few folks tell me what I made wasn’t correct.
Excellent presentation. Thank you. Loves me some fried tacos. My grandmother made them in a similar fashion but would fry them in a small iron skillet with bacon grease. I would give up my 401k to have her make me some of those again.
That sounds amazing!!
Y yo tambien😊
This concept is why I like chimichangas so much. Any crunch is just a wonderful thing.
I think that’s what I like too!!!
Not sure why this is limited to 360p guys, I'm so sorry about that.

I thought I was having a stroke, lol.
Some of us like 360p. Gives it that vintage look, you know?
Those tacos look great! I love your show Hussey! I use the trick of rolling the bacon in the package to make it easier to pull apart you taught me everytime I make bacon. I love to learn new tricks like that. I appreciate your show very much!
Thanks Andrew for that. Makes me feel good when someone gets value from the channel. Appreciate you bud!
Definitely looks fantastic, Matt!, love tacos ! These turned out amazing and a must make! Enjoy your Sunday! Cheers, my friend!
Your Blackstone Colleague Betty made those on her channel earlier this year. I need to make these. They looked delicious. I like the idea of adding Taco fixings to them. Thanks.
They’re so good!!!
LOL. "I love that tomato (did I put tomatoes in this??)" Thanks for another great video, Hussey! That recipe hit for sure. Looked so delicious. I love watching America's Test Kitchen too. I've learned a ton from them. Hope your Sunday is fantastic!
ATK is the bees knees for sure. Sunday was great brother! Hope yours was too!
My mom used to make this kind of tacos when I was a boy, and I have been looking for a recipe for them.
That's great that you found something similar!!!
Bro, I don’t know u and ain’t ever seen ur channel til now. I tried to jump thru this phone and snatch that half eaten taco ouch ur hand!! Daaaaaaaamn! Looks awesome. Thank u.
Haha. I chuckled hard when I read this.
I’m fairly sure that ATK used the baking soda because it helps to brown the beef quicker, which I guess could help it retain more moisture as a side benefit. The ATK host, Dan, made a video about using baking soda on beef. Great video!
Makes it tender and retains more juice, nice technique.
Great Video. Love the blooper reel at the end. I will be making these very soon.
Brother!! How have you been? So odd I was just watching one of your videos this morning. You’re crushing it man. I feel bad now, I didn’t leave a comment though. Appreciate you taking a look buddy!!
How have I never heard of these? Thanks for introducing me to something new!
When I saw these on ATK, I knew I had to make these for ya'll
Yea, that’s what I’m talking about. Awesome. I’ll have to try these. It was nice to meet you in person the other day.
Yes sir, it was nice to see you too my friend! Have a blessed week buddy!
Another mouth watering video. Thanks again.👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I've been making these since the 70's. Didn't know they had a name. My dad taught me how to cook.❤
These things are addicting!
Looks so delicious.
You’ve really been progressing your videos. I like the way you are incorporating various other creators methods with your own spin. I’m going to make these for lunch. Thx for the idea!
Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement! Thank you!
Delicious crunch!!
They were so darn good!
Fantastic, Hussey! Definitely going this next weekend! Need more taco in my life, and may keep the wife off my back for a minute! 😂 thanks for the vid and content! Definitely good groceries! Griddle on my friend..❤
Everyone needs more tacos in their life!!!
I definitely will be making those, Thanks for the recipe!
My pleasure 😊
I will definitely make those!! Thank you!
Hope you enjoy!
These are like the Jack in the Box tacos l grew up loving ❤
I can eat a few or 6 of these bad boys brother! They're so good.
Awesome video, thanks
That crunch! Yes👍👍 Awesome tacos🌮😊
Thank you 😋. It was so good!
So easy, I have to make these!! Love the bloopers too, keep those coming, Melaney from SoCal;

Good morning, my neighbor. Happy Sunday. Midway.
Dang boy!! That crunch though!! 😮

Great video Hussey the tacos look delicious!
Haha... I'm a big goof!
They are amazing
We love these so much! So addictive!
Looks amazing ❤
Always waiting for some good groceries videos 👍🏻
The baking soda and water is called velveting. Velviting cheap meat tenderizes.
Yeah, I was trying to think what it actually does, reactively, but like a dummy, I couldn’t think at that moment. Haha.
Good afternoon Hussey from Marietta GA!
I knew those tacos tasted good when I heard that crunch!!
That food is too good for the Andersons. Serve them the fried boloney!!
Thanks for the video!!
These things were so good brother!!! Thanks Dan!!!
Looks good 👍👍
Great video, I’m making these on my Blackstone! Maybe using tillamook pepper jack and that Mexican cheese is also amazing! Well done!
For sure man, make it to you. I like the idea of that pepper jack too!~
Reminds me if Jimboys taco without the parmasan cheese dusted on the shell (best fast food tacos ever by the way)
My dad told me they were the best tacos. With the grease running down your arm and dripping off your elbow.
Have you tried the sweet heat jalapeño slices on tacos, takes them to a different level 👊🏻
I haven’t. Are they sold or something you’d make?
Que rrico esos tacos dorados 👍🏻 nomas le falto el consome para que fueran perfectos 🙌🏻
Little consume to dip in would have been great!!!
I just finished watching the video on my 86 inch TV, it was not in 4K, but it still looked really good, the recipe looked really awesome, good job, baby girl
Dude , some how this thing was uploaded at 360p. 🤣 I have no idea how that happened.
Be sure to use the link to order his rubs !!! We use his Heifer and Fiesta dust all the time !!! They are awesome !!! Big congrats on the 200 K subs !!! HH 💪😋😁
Thanks brother Scott!!!!
I had the deep fat fried tacos on Olivera Street in LA in the 70’s
THE BEST l ever had before or since. I have asked every Mexican restaurant I have been to on the East Coast no one made them that way!! I was shocked. Still trying to find one.
I’ve never seen them made, but we will be making them soon for sure!!!
Looks delicious!
Thank you so much!!!
Love the bloopers!
Glad you like them!
They look delicious ❤
Thank you 😋
Everyday I'm Husseling everyday I'm Husseling. Hussey needs that theme song.
Haha!!! Yes!!!
Good morning from Gatlinburg TN Smoky Mountains Cousin Hussey!🌄🐻
Me too. From Tx
@@clintonhussey8502 omg!! Hello Hussey! Come say hi ..I have a channel in Gatlinburg' TN, Smoky Mountains... people ask, why do I call myself a Hussey 🤣
I believe these are called Taco Dorado (with the 'd' not a 't') Dorado, meaning golden in Spanish. They really are a golden crispy treat.
They are a great way to stretch a little leftover meat &/or potatoes into another meal.
Now I want a taco, please.
Dang it. Not sure how that happened
It’s changed now. Didn’t even notice that.
So excellent, Matt!
Thanks sir!!!
You dont need the last horizontal slice in the onion when your chopping them. The tacos look amazing!
Will make this week!
Sounds solid to me friend!
You are an awesome cook👍
Thank you. I really appreciate your kind words!
Looks good!
Thank you!
Check the high-end, ASMR quality audio equipment. Opening a pound of ground beef has no business sounding that good XD
2006 CZcams vibes, I love it!
Have no idea how this uploaded at 360p man. It’s beyond me. I shot in 1080p.
Them tacos shore looks good
Thanks so much!
Have to try this 👊👊🤗
Please do!
I do something similar when making Venison Burritos. I originally saw the Guys at Southern Boyz Outdoors make them. They are great.
We love these things!!!
Thanks for making me hungry I had to go make me some❤😂
Hope they were awesome!
Awesome!!!
Thanks!!
Love corn tortillas ,my mom has made fried tacos ,burritos all my life they are Delicious
Yes they are!
Hussy you continue to surprise us you dawg
Thank you. I really appreciate that!
Why i love chimichangas so much. They are awesome !!!
They were also one of my favorites too my friend!
Now, I want a Blackstone(just to make these).
Everyone needs a Blackstone!
Those look great! Do you think it could be made with ground turkey or ground chicken and still be good?
I think it would be great with chicken or turkey.
Nobody makes a better Cheddar than Tillamook Dairy. Could also be said for any of their products from Cheese to Ice Cream.
I like their products a lot and will buy them most times over any others.
we need this in HD lol!!
I'm not sure what in the world happened here and why it's a such low resolution. It was shot at 1080p
Big mac tacos work good on the griddle..
For sure man!!! I’ve done them and love them too!
Awesome , i may make these for the Phillies home opener
Hope you were able to make these!
Yes I did make them , they were a hit, thank you
Awesome brother!!!
Thank you for showing us how to do this. I love your channel. We are really trying to quit eating out, because it's $20+/$25+ per person and we can't afford that. But, we watch Masters on CZcams (like you), and you are teaching us how to have the faith and not fear doing this stuff ourselves. Because I don't have all the skills and brains that you do, but what you are showing me, is something that a "Normal Guy" can figure out and learn to do, even if it ain't perfect. However, for my family, I'll learn to do whatever is necessary to help them eat cheaper but better.
I’m nothing special. If I can do it, you can as well I have no doubt!
Oh yummy, I would add some roasted poblano. Or tiny bit of chipotle in adobo sauce.
Sounds great!
Dang!! They look amazing, good enough to eat!! I love crisp chimichangas too!!
These are so good!!!
Real video Huss
Thanks my friend!
You are the best!!
Appreciate your support!
Woohoo on the Tillamook cheese! I'm from Oregon!
It’s some good stuff!!!
That’s going to be good. We call those American style tacos. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
Oh my goodness that look so delicious 🙏🏼😇👍💯🌹
Thank you 😋
“Ole” 😂
Using shredded beef instead taste a lot better 😊
I'll be honest, I think they both have their place for sure and are totally different in their own respect. I would turn down either!!!
I roll them into a tube but this looks way easier!
I be like a taquito would be good too!
Great video question where'd you get the knife you used?
This is it. It’s on sale too

Ok Matt… I’ve commented several times as we love you and your channel and your cookin… but I must say…. “ Dangit Boy”!!!!!!!!!
Dang. It. Boy! Yes sir!! Thanks buddy for stopping by!
Thanks. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😎😎😎😎
Magie wants some of those tacos.
Maggie would certainly take many of those tacos. Haha.
Could you fry them open with the tortilla side down? Then you don’t have to flip them ?
Could, then that would be a tostada!
That little laugh at first crispy bite Mmm😃🌮🌮🌮
That laugh meant “I’ll crush 12 of these”
🤣
Flour tortillas makes it a quesadilla or open face burrito 5:56
It’s all good groceries!!
Pleeeeaaassse someone tell me where I can find a serving tray like the one he has his toppings and condiments in! I NEED!
So, technically, it’s a dough box from Blackstone, but I use it for toppings and such.

You can always sub water with beef bone broth.
Hey Matt, is this the same grill just without the lid?
Not sure I follow buddy? I do have a hood for this, but I remove it.
Спасибо за видео, отличная работа!
Thank you so much!
Best blooper…I love that tomato…did I put tomato in this?… No
Lol..
You almost gave me whiplash watching the flip of the tacos off the grill LOL
What do you mean?
THe filming part where you were softening the tortilla shells and them flipping them onto the plate. It was funny as heck , the camera was following you from the grill to the plate , grill to plate . It was funny @@thehungryhussey
Much like a NY chopped cheese but with a tortillas instead of a bun.
For sure!!!!
Bussey do you live in nc? I see the cheerwine
I do!!!
My wife just gave you a big shout out on qvc ,with David Venable and nate!! Blackstone sale and she bought another!! #4 wow and giving daughter the bronz 22". Love ya man!! Keep up the good work
Whoa, really???
Yes hussy. My wife and I have watched you since day 1. She's my sous chef but trying to take over with her own griddle! Hehe , love you brother. By the way we are in Wisconsin and she grabbed the green bay packer green griddle and they loved her on air!!
That’s so awesome!!! Thanks so much for all the support and love!! Y’all are having fun and that’s an awesome thing!!! Thanks guys!!! Love Hussey!!!
Happy easter!!
Damn Bruh. New sub just off the eating part. Have to try these now.
Enjoy them my friend! Thanks for the support, too!
Hey Hussey, looks like another smasher of a great Taco, but it's a Dorato...say it with me, lol. Good stuff and GRIDDLE ON DUDE.
Right on!
Half an onion is ALWAYS enough. One of the worst things I see in cooking is people think they have the whole onion so use it, but then the mix is not balanced, the other mistake is so many people don't cook it, the onion is raw and leaves a textural and flavor impact that ruins the dish, instead of complimenting
Let’s be fair here fella, when you make this, do half an onion. Everyone don’t like the same things, so just alter for you.
@@thehungryhussey of course everyone don't like the same thing, that was the point of my comment, that just because you have the whole onion does not mean you have to use it all, balance makes your dish better and pleasing to more pallets.
@@jefferynordgulen4436 🤣 Shoot. I thought you were thinking opposite. Dang man. I’m sorry.
Watching your videos is like watching a southern Bob Ross ... 😂😂😂 ... just gonna put some happy little lettuce on there, but do it however you like ...
There’s been many that have said that before. I don’t mind that at all!!
