    What they don’t mention is that many Norwegians and Europeans in general ride public transportation while we rely heavily on cars because of suburban sprawl.
    Driving is more a luxury than a necessity in most of Norway with well-connected trains, bus, and ferry routes that we don’t have here. It costs thousands just to earn a license there. You could never do that in America because driving is much more of a necessity with our lack of public transit in most areas and EVs are not cheap. The transit culture is far too different to compare.

    • @liseanettegranheim4404
      @liseanettegranheim4404 Před 3 lety +2

      Not really, driving is a must in the districts. We don't really have good public transportation system outside of the cities (escpecially oslo) with long distances between people etc. Maybe it's true in the southern part of norway (around oslo) but the further north you go the less public transportation is available to you. I'm from the middle part of the country, and there you're almost entirely dependent on a car, and we don't have that many electric cars either. It was first when i moved to oslo i got to experience a very good (relatively speaking) transportation system. In the west and further north they have ferries but you forget that people often come with cars, motor bikes etc. as people tend to take ferries to reach their destination quicker, as it would take forever if they didn't (again long distances), so i'm not sure it counts entirely (unless you want argue that since they take ferries they reach their destination quicker which means they don't pollute as much or something).

    • @alexgjelstad
      @alexgjelstad Před 2 lety +1

      Well... Most of us Norwegians rely on the car because of the geography and the not so well connected public transportation. When I say most, I mean the rest of us, not living in or around the few "major" cities we have. The cities have a decent public transportation system, but that's where it stops for most of the country. Western Norway, where I live, is riddled with fjords, and yes we have a lot of ferries here. But the ferries are mainly used too ferry cars as a part of the road system we have. Trains? Apart from the odd line here and there, its mostly consentrated around Oslo and the eastern part of Norway. And also. It's more common than not, to take your driving license over here 😉
