A small studio, but seeing that they were able to get Motoi Sakuraba on the music genuinely impressed me and caught my attention.
@@JasonScalici i can't stand that washed up hack aurally photobombing every game with the same 3 songs he's been phoning in over and over for the last 20 years, he's a one man fucking plague on the musical soul of video games. i used to like him in the 90s when he was trying to be ars nova but he needed to retire a long time ago holy shit. everyone is always like 'oh look motoi sakuraba is doing the music' but i bet they can't remember a single song from any of the soundtracks
Love these smaller studios keeping the traditional RPG alive
Amen.
You mentioned the composer (Motoi Sakuraba) as composing the Dark Souls trilogy, when in this case it would be more relevant to point out that he is the person who composed for Golden Sun. You can't get more directly inspired for this game than having the actual composer from GS on it :)
It looks really, really good and I just backed it. Thank you for bringing it up. They definitely deserve this attention!
**First battle scene**
Me: "How much do you want!? Take my money!"
**Motoi Sakuraba**
Me: "TAKE IT NOW!!!"
Ikr as soon as I saw the name, I need nnowww😂😂
This Console Generation, we didn't pay for Mario Sports games. We paid for Motoi Sakuraba Soundtracks in physical or digital form. :/
Sees the thumbnail and golden sun inspire, alright I'm sold. I hope for the best with this one
Oh I am a *sucker* for team attacks, so that row swapping mechanic is exactly my kinda jam. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
Same
Yeah I love how swapping the rows kind of attunes each character to their elements so you can mix and match and create combos like Chrono Trigger
Same but only if they Don't SUCK ie Chrono triggers 2x and 3x techs are USEFUL the few that Exist in Chrono Cross with the Exception of X Strike Serge + Kid all the OTHER 2x and 3rx techs Chrono Cross has are all pure CRAP and most of those techs can't even be USED ON NG+ runs since most LV 7 techs you can't keep though X strike uses the LV 3 techs for Serge/Glenn which is why its the only one that isn't crap.
Looks promising. The art direction looks nice. Reminds me of Spain and Portugal.
Aren't there a lot of reminiscences from India? I like it either way. Is the OST by Motoi Sakuraba? He did the music of Dark Souls, the Tales of series AND Golden Sun if I am correct.
I was just thinking the same thing, it's certainly an interesting aesthetic choice.
I can see it. Some of the color choices and clothes could be inspired by India.
I agree!
I've been waiting for ANYONE to make a Golden Sun inspired game. I'll def be backing this 🥰
I will back anything that plays homage to Golden Sun. And the fact that they got Motoi Sakuraba is just icing on the cake!
Thank you for this video. I dont think i even hear about these RPGs from small studios if you didnt cover them.
Sure thing!
I really love their trailer presentation video, the way they introduce you to the characters in a 2D format reminds me so much of the Golden Sun franchise. I'll definitely be backing this game, Golden Sun was one of my favorite game series that I loved all the way through.
Keep this in on the radar. David, I'm also originally from GA, but grew up on the coast.
Kickstarter games are great. Sea of Stars, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Chained Echoes. This trailer also looks amazing. If they manage to recreate the style of puzzels Golden Sun feutured I´m going to be super hyped.
This game looks so good! Why release this gem in 2026?
@@Genoxide09Mate between a game and a trailer is a ocean. T-posing in 2024 is a strech.
I think you undersold the Music Composer Motoi Sakuraba a bit just casually mentioning that the music composer worked on Dark Souls series ( without naming him) actually Sakuraba is behind MANY well beloved series music - an absolute legend. so in addition to Souls series, also the Tales series, Golden Sun series, Mario Golf and more, but for me, its his work on the Star Ocean series especially Star Ocean A Second Story. he's legit a big name.
I normally don’t name many Japanese people because I have a very hard time pronouncing their names and I don’t want to disrespect them by butchering their names.
This looks so fun! You had me at Final Fantasy and Golden Sun! 🎉
This looks pretty cool, but I'm disappointed that the in game models don't look enough like their 2D portraits. It feels like two art styles in opposition.
Being I do an rpg marathon every single solitary Tuesday videos like these always make my day
I just saw the trailer and wow, it has a really cool switching attack. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, David 👍
This is gorgeous. Please let this game say on my radar for the next two years so I don't miss this one.
First ive heard of this one, ill keep my eyes out for this one, thanks for covering it💪
only made it halfway through the video before opening kickstarter in another tab and backing. Thanks for bring the game to my attention David.
you had me at Golden sun
Sold! Pls do more Videos of this kind! Indi Developers deserve more Attention because they make awesome Games. For me the guy that loves Jrpgs that are only Turnbased they are my only Hope!
That's insane who they've managed to get on board for their game development, it's definitely got my attention! Awesome video, David 😎
Sounds like my jam! Thanks for the heads-up on this David.👍
Omg, CZcams has been hiding your feed from me lately, but luckily the algorithm knows how much I love Golden Sun, this looks awesome!
Welcome back!
I was sold when you said inspired by Golden Sun and Final Fantasy 😅
This looks and sounds amazing!
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ The title gave me a great smile ❤❤
Imagine if they have a Chinese Fire Drill placement swap. You don't know if the member of the back row will switch will the front row or stay still, but the all elements are combined.
Looks really exciting! Would’ve helped to put a link to the kickstarter in the description though. Thanks for directing our attention to this!
I fixed it now! :)
This looks beautiful. Also, I loved Golden Sun (the first one... less the second one). This game looks kind of different yet familiar. Most importantly, this looks fun! This might be the first kickstarter I support!
The Lost Age is incredible...well both are.
The visuals look very good too
Yay:)))) I have been waiting for something like golden dun:)))
You had me at Summons so surely looking out for this game.
Golden Sun is my favorite games series so I would love something very close to it
I will be keeping an eye on this, thanks.
Screamed like a school girl seeing Golden Sun inspired.... So damn excited
This one looks so cool! It feels like the whole dev team is people who just love RPGs
This seems like an awesome game, I've never played Golden Sun, but I've heard great things about it. This game looks to be off to a good start.
That looks gorgeous
This definitely has my attention, but I'm not completely sold on it just yet. I think the biggest shocker here is that Motoi Sakuraba was the composer for the Dark Souls games; I'm pretty familiar with his work with WolfTeam and TriAce, along with the Golden Sun games, but not that!
thanks, i love u. always helping me to discover new nice rpgs!
4:00 They're doing a great job of raising awareness of this game. This is the second CZcams video I've seen about this game. I think BackLog was the first I saw.
My ears perked up at Lost Odyssey being mentioned. This looks like a great game and I might actually support this.
Yeah they were at the presentation with me and we spoke privately about it afterwards. We both liked what we saw :)
@davidvinc If you both recommend it, then I'm going to have to free up some funds for it. We need more games like this!
OMG I love this! Indie games will save us all from the ills of AAA and the microtransaction trifecta. It's so refreshingly diverse, too. Way past done with European Medieval fantasy. The art and graphics look gorgeous... headed to the KS page now. Tysm for spreading the word!
That's nice and all. But I still want a new Golden Sun
I put money down first thing this morning.
I’m really into it from a gameplay perspective. But I also think the character designs are really cool and the character concepts are relatable and fun. They have a character who isn’t as young, they have an NB character, they have a gal in the lead… I dig it. It’s a shame people are probably going to freak out and say “omg it’s woke!”, but it seems like that’s inevitable unless you go bog standard.
I wonder why big development companies (other than Atlus) are still so blind to the huge fanbase traditional RPGs have. For example, Persona 5 royal came out some years ago, and there is STILL alot of online community buzz around the game. Final Fantasy rebirth came out a couple months ago, and its already fizzled to almost silence except for a few die hards.
There are people who say "Turn based games arent my thing". And thats fine. People like what they like. But there are JUST as many who say "Action gaming isnt OUR thing, we prefer traditional rpgs". And this is overlooked way to often.
I sometimes suspect its because it takes WAY more talent, and hard work to make a "good" traditional rpg. It has to be inspired, well written, and have enough mechanics, bells and whistles, secrets, and interesting characters to be successful. And maybe they don't make more of them because the talent pool is dry in the industry due to things like nepotism and preferential hiring practices? These days its all about making the most money for the least effort. And thats sad. The console wars of the 90s and 2000s were the best time for rpg fans because everyone was driven to outdo each other. Now things have gotten lazy, and it seems like only smaller studios are the only place your going to find great traditional RPGs. Because their ambition and vision is intact. This game (Alzara) will probably be amazing for this reason.
I think all the above is why game IPs like Breath of Fire, Shining Force, Phantasy Star, and many more that would be MASSIVE hits if they were continued today but kept traditional just arent made.
seems like a great experience!
I saw Motoi Sakuraba name and now this is on my radar
The Sun has risen outside of Nintendo and Camelot!
looks really good!
That game looks amazing.
I miss Golden Sun.
Also Golden Sun uses RANDOM NOT fixed encounters so I'm not sure which type this one is using for normal battles.
It looks really good. I already like the healer, he totally has my vibes
I hope it delivers. Keep me posted!
This looks like a cool game. I absolutely loved Golden Sun and am a jrpg fanatic. I went ahead and backed to get a physical copy because I like having something tangible to hold in my hands instead of an electronic representation of a game. I had never heard of this so thank you for bringing it to our attention as well as Godshard Chronicles, which I backed as well.
Fingers crossed that it delivers. I never played Golden Sun myself, because I was more of a Pokemon guy, and PS2, and it wasn't until Kingdom Hearts 2 opened the door, no pun intended, to JRPGs for me. So, this looks very, very promising. I'm probably gonna get it on Nintendo's next system, because I know it's not gonna be on the Switch, and hopefully this game gets a physical version. I saw Avatar: The last Airbender in high school, and the protagonist reminds me of Korra if she were born in the Fire Nation instead of the Southern Water Tribe.
I'm also a sucker for Turn based battle system, LOVE GOLDEN SUN and FF9 (My FIRST AND FAVORITE FF). I'm interested in anything with "summons." I hope that this game will turn out good.
I heard Golden Sun, that’s all the convincing I need
As always thanks for the heads up on upcoming JRPS! Not a fan of the art style but will still pick up.
i love turn base combat and i want to support indies more. i don't like how video games have gotten too corporate these days
We need to support promising indie developers. I will add this to my wish list and see how it goes.
Thank you very much for your kind words!
Thanks so much for the wonderful game, I'm really looking forward to it!
Thanks for bringing my attention to this.
Looks awesome. I went ahead and signed up at Kickstarter so I could pledge some money to it. I hope they reach their goal and actually release the game.
I’m looking forward to the game!!! It looks amazing.
Hey David i know you mentioned that the Composer did dark souls music but im not sure if you know he is also the one that does the music for all the Star Ocean Games and most of the Tales of games. just thought I'd let you know :)
Oh dude! Thats even better!
@davidvinc what do you think of the kickstarter lady death demonicron
I just made my contribution on Kickstarter. I like what I see!
It's a tragedy we didn't get a proper sequel to Golden Sun. Dark Dawn was okay but not in the same league as the first two.
Looks nice, would be nice to see some towns though
Wow this looks quite good and the battle system sounds fun! I’m definitely on board!
It also reminds me a bit of Blue Dragon ❤
Omggggg this is so exciting!!!
... So the game seems neat, but David liking Avatar just made my day.
This is the kind of prerendered style that is seriously lacking nowadays...nice
This looks great. Too bad it’s not coming until 2026 😢. Really excited!
This looks incredible. I backed the project at a decently high level 😅
Yeah, I’ll be keeping an eye on this one. Game looks cool and the company sounds like they are worth backing.
Nintendo should contract them to make a new a Golden Sun
The combining elements sounds familiar... Grandia?
Hm... I see they have "Claude von Riegan At Home" in the form of Adil.
Not bad.
I see Golden Sun, I click
This game looks wonderful, so I wish-listed it on Steam. The story also reminds me of Final Fantasy VI with magic having disappeared from the world :)
Golden Sun plus Final Fantasy equals this game cool
Looks great, love the art style and character designs. 2026 is a bit disappointing though.
looks good! Thanks for sharing this with us
My pleasure 😊
The 3D models and animations look off to me, like an ad for a mobile game that plays nothing like what is shown. But the 2D art looks fantastic. And Motoi Sakuraba being tied to the project as well is enough to get me excited. I'll keep my eye on this one.
I don't see a link to the Kickstarter in the description.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I’ve fixed it now. :)
Combat looks more like Suikoden3 for me. Which is really great!
golden sun is back oh life is good
You had me at Golden Sun, but piqued my interest at the Lost Odyssey mention.
I'm totally ok with random encounters... imagine Final Fantady 2 (4) without them! It wouldn't he the same. I just hope the weapons look different when equipped... that's all I ask. But damn! This looks like it could be outstanding
Interesting look. Hope it'll just a game to enjoy, depending in the platform. 😄
Not enough hotties/10
That said, I haven't backed a game since A Hat in Time, so I'm always wary about backing these days. I'd rather just wait and see.
Well this looks fun.
Looks great!
