Does it matter if you put the foil on the inside or the outside of the window ?

It’s better to use pure white curtains or pure white blinds instead because pure white reflects alot of sunlight just like the aluminum foil and there is no need to put it outside like you have to do with aluminum foil.

I had hoped that this clip would let us know if it matters to use either the shiny side or the duller side.

It makes no difference. Heat gets in through light (radiation) and air. Blocking out both (closing the window and covering with foil to stop light) is the key thing. Since aluminium is such a poor conductor it can be cold to the touch after taking out of the oven, it makes no difference which side is facing out.

The shiny side. It will reflect more light.

@@johnnyw525 If the sun is shining directly on the window, it will definetly make a difference to put the shiny side towards the sun.

Hey there - the aluminum is should cover the window from the outside. The cardboard acts as insulation and absorbs the aluminum foil’s heat on the inside.

What about if my windows are double paned? I read that it could cause the window to break. Is this true? If it's not, then should I put the tinfoil on the outside of my window? Thank you for any help.
