  • Which High Torque Impact Wrench would you choose? We put head to head the ‪@MilwaukeeTool‬ 2967 M18 FUEL High Torque Impact Wrench and the ‪@SnaponToolsOfficial‬ CT9080 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench. They both deliver a ton of power and exceed the limits that any 1/2" anvil should deliver. The Milwaukee costs about half as much, at $299, vs the Snap-on at $623 for the bare tool. 5-year vs 2-year warranty as well, and the Kit prices are $499 vs $1112.

Before I even see the results, I know the Snap-On fan boys are going to be crying that the Milwaukee won or either was very close to winning. For the money you spend on the Snap-On, it should be doing 10X better then the M18. Side note: it seems over all the Snap-On tests I have seen on your channel that you are not a fan of the brand. Now I could be wrong, but it is just my opinion. Thanks for sharing this and all the testing you do! You make it easier on people to buy the right tool. For the 2976 to break 2000 when only being rated at 1500 is amazing. Plus if you already have batteries, the tool only is less then $300 compared to the Snap-On $1100+ 1000lbs over spec!!

@@carlosmedrano3549 That is one way you could compare the tools.
But given that the Milwaukee costs half as much as the Snap-On bare tool ($299 vs $629) or quite a bit less than half as a kit ($499 vs 1,111.95) I cold argue that using the best case battery on the Milwaukee is perfectly fair, since both the price gaps ($330 or $612) give me well more than enough to buy the Forge battery for $199 and still have lots of beer money left over.
There's arguments both ways, but I don't think either using the kit battery or the Forge is the objectively more fair measure.

Thank you for the kind words. I think Snap-on makes some awesome tools, both hand tools and power tools. However, when the price is more than double and you really can't put your finger on why it's priced as such, it makes it really tough to recommend. We love their flank drive stuff and we think the 14.4V impacts with the rocker switches are the bomb. Their 18V impacts used to be an absolute embarassment, but the past two updates have brought them closer to the mark. They also refuse to talk with us on any level about their tools; whereas, we talk with many engineers and product managers with all the other major tool manufacturers. They have a very closed system, including their market strategy with trucks and franchises. There's another discussion about how they leverage the truck/franchise owners and put the weight on them for sales and warranties. For the record, we don't have a problem with Snap-on as a whole. Thanks for watching.

as a mechanic you just have to pick and choose but for a diyer snap on doesnt make sense. like a flat rate tech definitely should have some snap on hand tools to make good money. but the power tools are really only worth it for some and even then really only the 14.4v lineup at most and you could definitely make it by with milwaukee.

I love me some Snap On, they really do make a lot of fantastic tools. I’ll take my Snap On hand tools over just about anything else, any day of the week. However, their prices on power tools and other electrical and diagnostic equipment are just quite frankly inexcusable. It’s why when I finally retired my very tired Snap On and Matco cordless tools, I replaced them with Milwaukee. Couldn’t be happier overall. That said Snap On does have some really neat cordless tools that I wish Milwaukee would make versions of. The rocker switch compact impacts and screw guns are just so sweet to use, too bad they just cost way too much.

Neat thing about Milwaukee is, even with the kit, if you know where to look, and if any sales crop up, you can get it for $399, with the 2x 5.0Ah batteries and the standard dual charger combo.
Milwaukee, the tools once known to belong in the plumbing and electrical industry, are now making a name for themselves in the automotive field. Even DeWalt is giving it a shot in the automotive world, despite being well known as contractor and construction tools. Most tire techs use Milwaukee anyway, and they're gravitating away from air.😄

Kind of a skewed test don't you think? You talked about pricing of the kits and bare tool, but you included the forge battery on the Milwaukee. Which d does not come with the kit and has to be bought seperate. The Milwaukee with a 5.0 ah battery won't hit the same performance metrics, and honestly, most people are just going to buy the kit with the battery and not invest in another $200 dollar battery.

The Snap-on CT9050 is smaller and more of an everyday use tool. It's strong enough! If you already into the Snap-on tools or want to get into this 18v line, it's worth buying and so is there 18v drill.
Regardless of warranty, so far I never had to warranty any Snap-on cordless tools. Milwaukee on the other hand when I had all the Milwaukee tools, I was constantly sending those off for warranty. About a 9-12 day turnaround which isn't bad but very annoying. It's how I ended up buying all Snap-on.
Milwaukee sells more Snap-on tools than the Snap-on marketing department 😁

I really think snap on’s bread and butter is in hand tools. They fell behind with the delay to go brushless. The impact isn’t bad by any means but when someone’s offering 2.5x the warranty, half the cost, and a tool that will do the same or better and it’s available down at your local Home Depot then you’re not even competing anymore.
Oddly, to me my hand tools are the ones I’ll clean up and I care about how they look at the end of the day when I lock up my box. I don’t care as much about my power tools. They get way too dirty and beat up to care. Snap on tools are nice and should look nice. So are hand tools. Snap on also makes really great hand tools.

It would be a more fair test if you would've used the regular 5.0 battery that the Milwaukee comes with because the price is waaaay different with a Forge battery and the Snap On doesn't have an equivalent of a Forge battery! One Forge battery is $250 people. But I know how this channel loves to suck up to Milwaukee.

1000 cycles on a battery that costs more than the milwuakee impact seems like a very small amount of uses. You're paying for a brand that used to have good warranties but now just makes shit and is only willing to back up their products for 2 years

The only reason the Milwaukee won is that battery.

No, not really. You do bring up a good point, we should have run the 5Ah until it peaked, then moved to the Forge 6.0. Thanks for watching.

lol snap on is a thing of the past I work in a Mercedes-Benz dealership, and all the senior master techs use Milwaukee
Snap is overpriced and overrated. Milwaukee power tools have a longer warranty. And their sockets and wrenches are lifetime warranty so you don’t have to deal with tool trucks.
At this point the only thing I would buy from snap is maybe a toolbox, but even that may be pushing it ……😂😂😂
