It wasn’t a fair comparison. He did use Milwaukee flagship and he didn’t use the flagship XR for the dewalt. I am a dewalt guy but Milwaukee does beat dewalt in price and power. But dewalt just released a new battery that’s pretty good and a game changer and Milwaukee will follow that too. I use other tools more than just drill/driver though. I think dewalt spins quicker with a fair comparison but Milwaukee has more torque. Both dewalt and Milwaukee are the top contenders for power tool and good for competition to push the makers to make better tools.

If it takes me an extra 30 seconds to put something it’s all good. My choice of who I went with wasn’t based just on power but the way it looks, features and compatibility and availability.

It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

There's a story I remember back from my childhood. Much like Milwaukee making fun of DeWalt, the hare always made fun of the slower tortoise until it was time to race. It looked like Milwaukee would win because it was so fast but right when the race was nearly over, the hare fell asleep and didn't wake up in time to catch up with the tortoise. Sure, the Milwaukee drilled the screws in faster but when it came time to test who could go the longest, the slow and steady DeWalt showed to be just like the tortoise and won the race.
The DeWalt was off by what, barely a second or two when drilling some of the screws? The DeWalt seems to either use or have less power but will still get the job done and the battery won't run out on you like the Milwaukee does.

Top setting location on the DeWalt is opposite from the top setting location on the Milwaukee. If both drivers are pointing at the camera, the high setting on the Milwaukee will be one slot left of the far-right (setting 3 of 4; 4 of 4 is a special setting to help prevent stripping screws in hard materials); on the DeWalt, high setting will be the dial turned all the way to the left (setting 3 of 3.) This has been the case with DeWalt for a while. During the testing, one can easily see the Milwaukee on that 3 of 4 setting due to the visibility of the light setting. The DeWalt setting is more difficult to see (black switch on a black field), but it can be seen in the 3 of 3 position (all the way to the left when driver is pointing toward the camera) at these timestamps during the testing:

the bigger the screw the bigger the gap between them so..... Milwaukee has more torque

That's one big thing, if the battery test were done on bigger screws/lag bolts, the slower, less torque DeWalt would take longer, thus run out first.

@@frankfuller975 you are talking about continuous torque not peak torque. Matt was likely talking about peak torque, which is what a lot of Auto mechanics look for. continuous is great for doing things fast because you have better torque while a bolt/nut is coming out or going on/in (Eg. rusty threading, hard to penetrate material). With a higher peak, the first turn is where it shines like removing a highly torqued or stuck bolt. That was not a test done here but I completely understand as Tyler likely did not have a way to measure that.

@@thebobbywest for testing peak torque Tyler should try out the 1/2 impacts milwaukee and dewalt make that would be interesting since both claim to have around 1400 lb pounds of breaking force.

@@ajflament8012 would be a valid test if they both advertise the same, between these 2 theres a difference of 25 lbs/in in dewalts favor so that may sway some people.

A much better test would have just been to attach the drills to each other with a straight Allen key and see which one turns the other, that's how you know which has more power, the end.

I have both Milwaukee and Dewalt at home and In my experience, the Milwaukee seems to have a little more power than the Dewalt. For example, I was removing the seats from my truck and started with the Dewalt and it wasn't having it, wasn'tmoving the bolt at all. Switched to the Milwaukee and came right out.

Dewalt has a tension sensor. It changes speed as it gets tighter but Milwaukee seems to have no control and might rip through.
