    I'm 45 yrs old and I own a 2016 Tri-Glide. Love the stability and plenty of room for cargo!! We took a long distance trip this past summer (i was the only Trike)...we hit a windy ass day...the 2 wheeled guys were getting blown all over, but not me. Absolutely LOVE this cycle.

    Bought my 2017 TG in October 2016. Lovin' it more every day. Rode 2 wheels for years and have not looked back since October. Completely satisfied with my TG. And by the way. I am not physically restricted to 3 wheels at all. just enjoy 3 better than 2 now. In October, took it to the mountain twisties in NC and TN. So much fun on the curves and I ride more aggressive on the TG than I ever did on 2 wheels. It handled any curve with stability and speed. Highly recommend the TG to anyone, regardless of age.

    Just purchased a used 2016 Trike with 4,000 miles on it. I am 70 years old and have been riding since I am 9 years old. My wife and I love to ride but two wheels no longer fit our riding needs which was a ultra Dresser, soooo we decided to purchase a trike to continue our riding for many years to come. Thank you Harley Davidson for manufacturing such a great bike and thank you Matt for a great video kept them coming....Charles...

      Had bikes for more than 40 years now this is my second harley and my first tg . I can honesty tell u tgs are just fine . I'm 65 now and could tell the heavy 2 wheelers wed getting to be too much. The tg has eliminates all the handling issued I was starting to have with 2 wheelers. takes a bit of getting use to but thats fine. The tg is more than i expected. Really

    Purchased a new 2017 TriGlide this year (Nov2017). I had a pretty bad collision 5 years ago when a bus pulled out in front of me breaking my leg, nine ribs, multiple fractures to my collarbone, crushed right thumb, road rash, with damaged joints and tendons. 4 1/2 years of recovery and therapy. My leg which was broken just below the knee left my leg and knee weak and the crushed right thumb resulted in bone fragments being removed and a shorter thumb. I tried riding a two wheeler again but could not manage with my wife on the back. I relented to her wishes and bought the trike, OMFG, I love it! AND I am riding again!

    Matt I know this is an older review but I am buying a 2017 triglide from a dealer here in Tennessee with only 1500 miles on it. And you have helped me out with a lot of things I never knew. I have been riding 46 years and my knees said it's time to trim glide! Thank you sir

    These Tri Glides are awesome. Been a 2 wheeler for about 10 years now. I had an open heart surgery and my wife doesn't feel comfortable riding any more. Seriously looking at a tri glide now!

    by the way, great review!! Once again, I'm 45 years old. I lift weights 5 days a week...I'm in perfect health. The point is, I view these cycles as safer and funnier to ride. When I rode my older 2-wheeled bike, I was constantly "tense" all the time. The Trike gives you tremendous stability and (for me), allows me to just relax and enjoy the ride!

      I'm turning 18 soon. I've always wanted a Tri-Glide. My dad wanted one since I was a little kid and always talked about it. Sadly he passed 2 years back so I've figured I should try my hardest to get one. That and I don't think I would have the knee strength to hold up a 2 wheeler. I was born with bad knees.

    I just purchased a 2017 with 11,000 miles on it. I sold my ultra classic five years ago after a stroke and open heart surgery. It's not the same but it got me back on the road. I love it, and it handles the wind in North Dakota much better than a two wheeler.

    I'm 70 and couldn't handle a 2 wheeler anymore. Here, in Brazil, there is an engineer who is making the transformation in trikes. I had my Electra transformed and can tell you that it is fun! It looks like an imported (from USA) one and people in the street do not believe it was only a bike transformed. The engineer has already made 8 of them and now he is working on 2 others. Trikes are fun and easy to ride!!

    I just turned 50 this year and while age has little to do with it, I saw a ton of trikes at Sturgis this year. Between the rain, sand and uneven pavement where our hotel was, the ride was super sketchy loaded down heavy and riding 2up. I struggled a bit and while I can still manage, I was a tad envious of the trike riders. More storage, easier interstate travel and not having to worry about a low-speed spill has me looking more and more at a trike. Great review Matt. Thank you....

    Great review. However, as a two time Tri-Glide owner, I wish you would have spent as much time, if not more, on the PRO's as you did on the CON's. PRO's such as:- Never worrying about dropping the bike, especially in parking lots with potholes or uneven surface;- Riding more safely on sandy roads, gravel and unpaved roads;- Carry a passenger more easily thanks to the third wheel..."she" can move all she wants without upsetting the bike's balance;- Riding it helps to keep the upper body moving and strong.All-in-all, I highly recommend the Tri-Glide.

      But that’s the obvious thing isn’t it with all 3 wheelers ? I personally don’t see the point of riding a Trike. One could actually buy a car and roll down the windows and would still have 20 grand +bank balance , no? Where is the thrill of riding a 2 wheeler ??!!

    • @tonymcgee1146
      @tonymcgee1146 Před 5 lety +1

      @@lightice1387 The thrill or point is still being able to ride when you have a disability or some type of medical problem that would prevent riding a 2-wheeler. I think most riders are older people, but in my 20's I rode a trike with a VW engine and had just as much fun as a 2-wheeler, of which I have owned many.

    Fantastic review. After having problems with the factory air shocks on my 2017 TriGlide, I upgraded to the Legends Revo-A and the lift bracket. Nice review. I own a 2014 TriGlide, and everything you've described is absolutely spot on. Many years ago, I also had modified a GoldWing with a RoadSmith kit. Independent rear suspension with disc brakes, air ride, the technology is there, so why Harley doesn't do something like that is beyond me. It's a much better ride with the upgraded rear end. I do, however, like the TriGlide. Just a bit tougher in twisties, and articulating parking lot approaches and other bumps.

    I'm considering a Harley trike. Many years ago, I drove a friends trike that had a VW engine in it on a 200 mile trip. It was quite comfortable but I continued riding 2-wheelers. Fast forward.. I'm now in my late 60's and have developed nerve damage in both my feet and legs so a 2-wheeler is now pretty much out of the question. I'm amazed at the number of people in my age group around here that are avid riders, mostly 2-wheelers though.

    Its well worth the $36K however, this price is what I'd expect to pay as a down payment on a twin seater Sea Otter, push prop that enables me to blow through stop signs, never have to worry about school zones, speed traps or getting hit by another vehicle. And besides all this, I can land on a hard runway or in the lake or ocean. I do like this HD Model but I'd have to figure out a way to carry it on long range trips. You did a very good job explaining the features of this model. Thanks

  • @brighton_dude

    I think the Can-Am Spyder would be worth looking at by anyone that is considering this trike.
    Two wheels in front, one at the rear is a much more stable way to have a three wheeler. This is why the Morgan company adopted this layout in 1909 and continue with it today.

    • @PeterDad60
      @PeterDad60 Před 7 lety

      Well the Can-Am Spyder and the Polaris Sling Shot are both real nice. Me? I would prefer this Harley-Davidson Tri Glide. I love the Harley Big-Twin Motor! Also unlike the Polaris Sling Shot you do not sit in a car seat but on a Tri-Glide you are up on top of the frame like a motorcycle.
      I have a side car on my 1993 Harley-Davidson Sportster Deluxe and I used it to bring along my daughter in the car and my son sitting behind me on the motorcycle. I have many years and miles under my belt with a side car. Still I have always wanted a Harley-Davidson Trike. On account of cost I'll be going with the Freewheeler.
      I'm going on 67 and I have very serious health issues due to injuries but I can still ride my 2015 Harley-Davidson FLHP Road King Police for at least two hours. One day when my troubled body can no longer safely handle a motercycle that's when I'll go back to my side car and a new Sportster or a new Tri Glide/Freewheeler.
      One thing. riding with a side car did develop my upper body strength. The steering was all in the handlebars, no leaning. The Trike-Freewheeler is the same. I am cool with that. Just remember your tires wear out in the center only, because you can't lean in the turns. So you must keep an eye out for tread wear, riding in the rain on balding tires can end you up in a wreck so just remember my comment about the tire wear.
      But no worries about dropping your 2 wheel bike and no worries about backing up. That's a big relief for a man like me.

    • @brighton_dude
      @brighton_dude Před 7 lety

      This Harley will of course be preferable for many people. I just mentioned the Can-Am Spyder because I think it is an alternative that some might prefer.
      I will say that I am not a Harley guy myself. But I do like Harley people, I'm just not one of them. I think that makes a difference.
      If I got to the position where I no longer felt I was able to manage a regular motorcycle, you know, I think I would get the new Morgan three wheeler. I have driven these a few times and although it is a car, really, it is so exciting to drive an you are so in the open that it is possible the only car that could replace a motorcycle.
      I live in the UK so I see the Morgans around quite a lot.
      I think people should try as many options as they can. The Can-Am, the Sling-Shot, the Morgan and of course the Harley trike.
      It may surprise people that they prefer one they hadn't considered at first.

    • @MattLaidlaw
      @MattLaidlaw  Před 7 lety

      I thought of that motorcycle as well. I agree one might consider that as an alternative but that's like comparing a sport bike to a Harley-Davidson. Plus the two wheels up front make it a completely different animal. Really the only thing they have in common is the fact they have 3 wheels. Really I think the best comparison is the Honda Gold wing Trike

    I appreciate that you spent a considerable amount of time on the engine, however it would've been a little more helpful if you went over the options on this bike. I am personally trying to compare what one would get on a 34K trike from Harley and what you would get on a 30K trike from Honda. I can only assume from this video that you didn't go over it because it doesn't have anything extra with it other than reverse. I wanted to know if it comes with heated grips, heated seat. How well the stereo works, can you hear it on the highway etc...

      Jason Bluestein good to know. I appreciate the feed back. I'll try to include those items better in future videos.
      The trike does not have heated seats and does not have heated grips. The stereo is excellent. You can hear it really well even at highways speeds. The system is state of the art for a motorcycle/trike. GPS, Bluetooth, USB port.

      Heated seat & grips are extra. The stereo sounds good either through the speakers or the headset (Helmet wind noise is the the issue at highway speeds.). I added a rear bumper to mine and the rear end lift kit - helps to protect the pipe tips!

    Excellent review. Thanks! I'm seriously evaluating to buy the TriGlide. The only concern I have is due to how people see the trike: a bike for old people who has physical problem. I'm 55 with a good physical shape. Two weels Bikers look badly trike...

    I ordered one of these back in early April and am hoping it will be delivered within the next couple of months, but it does have to come across the Atlantic to the UK first. My dream machine.
    I'm having the 'Kliktronic' electronic push-button gear change system fitted as my left foot is virtually useless.
    Where is the parking brake located and how is it operated?

    I'm confused. So, the rear axle is a straight axle, doesn't that put a lot of stress on the outside wheel on a turn, or did I miss something? Seriously looking at getting a trike in the near future. Great video!

    just an fyi. In Wa and Or. you DO need a trike endorsement and they charge an arm and leg for it. $175.00 for the " school" and extra to put it on your lic.

    My concern is about the reverse gear. Using electrical engine is a bad choice made by HD. It's not reliable and it has a lot of limitations on its usage. Why HD has decided not to use the engine also for the Reverse?

    Hi Matt, great video as aways. How does the trike feel for a tall rider? I'm 6'5" with a 37" inside leg so was just wondering if it felt cramped at all for you as I know your also a tall rider, also have to tried the FreeWheeler and how did that compare?

      MrRobeva they look good and are on a streetglide to complete the sleeker styling but they are not as good functionally. The viewing angle is better on the handle bars.

    The best tyre pressure for these trikes is 8 to10 pounds in the rear and 18 pounds in the front to get the best ride.

    The independent rear suspension of the Goldwing was a selling point for me. Plus the Goldwing has 50 more hp and torque and cheaper than Harley. Goldwing on bumps/curbs is smooth as f*ck like a Cadillac.

      @fawcems Před 7 lety +6

      You might think thatafter paying 36,00 dollars for a motorcycle trike, it would already have independent suspension, wouldnt you? Harley is just nuts on their pricing. You could buy TWO better equipped cars and still have money left over from $36000...
