- When I didn't think I could possibly love Assassin's Creed more, it's back in full force with pirates. Not only do we get to experience the same thrilling combat and stealth that we've come to love from Assassin's Creed, but this time around we also get to take the naval battles from AC3 to an entirely new level. Enjoy watching as I work my way through the story aiming for 100% sync on all the missions, as well as partaking in a good amount of the general shenanigans that my channel has become known for!

Once you defeat them they disappear.
Might i suggest that if you like black flag then you should get Rogue. Its pretty much the same but they got rid of the annoying stuff. You get a new ship, new ocean, and a new protaganist.
Also four new legendary battles.

TigerClawProductions the dutchman does make an appearance in ac4, in one of the navel missions. The dutchman is named "the hollander" (weirdly enough sails under the English flag)

Almost done upgrading my Ship 100%. When i finish I will take on all 4 of these bad ass Legendary Ships.
Even with 100%, they're still hard as shit unless you have a solid strategy. The bottom 2 I beat 1 after another with about 90% of my upgrades (Everything elite but broadside cannons and heavy shot)

On my PC, during this battle, I turned the in-game music right down, then opened an internet tab and put on the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song. EPIC!
It would have been nicer if we could use our fleet to sail with us whenever we need them. Like have only 2 of them come with a push of a button. That would have been acceptable alternative to not having assassins aid you with a push of a button.
I was hoping that the more I progressed the story, the closer I would be to gaining allies on the seas. Allies that I can call upon. But nooooooo. That would have been epic. Oh well, great video btw, now I have an idea on what to do against this ship. Thanks.

Kinda disappointing that you only get 20,000 R and that's it... I mean, naval convoys have 10,000 and those take all of 20 seconds to take down. I think a much bigger reward is in order.
Yeah, we should get 50,000 at the very least. And that could vary from ship to ship, depending on its reputation and or infamy.
The El Impoluto was my first legendary ship to sink ._.

The legendary ships are perfect. They are so challenging and I was happy with all the coins and the charge ability. Super helpful
I've only managed to take out 2 of the legendary ships so far... but, yeah... trying to stay behind them helps.... I hit them with mortars, broadsides, swivels, then heavy shots... rinse and repeat...
There could have been so many cool easter eggs in this game, like an actual NPC kraken (not that lame little cutscene) or a legendary ship which resembles the flying dutchman.
ATTENTION:: You aren't stuck my friend.. i thought the same. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAIL AWAY and it will eventually end it. You will see a warning when about to get far enough.
all I have to say is thank god the HMS princes captain was to dumb to put cannons in the back

Guys you don't have to fight the ship there is no infinite loop if your fast enough you can turn around and get out of there.

Its easy!! Just start "mortaring" it and swivel it. Every time you do a heavy shot or round shot the swivel cause pretty well damage(only do this once ur ship is maxed

God i loved these ship battles when i first played this game i really wish they had something like this in the new assassin creeds
The twin legendary ships are a real pain. Both keep a good distance away from you and they have killer cannons on the side and attack at the same time. However it's easy money if you just kill one and take the 10000 r and run like hell away from the other or get kill and reset the battle. Note you will still have the 10000 r you took from the ship and the ship will be back again as this battle is a twin ship the game will put it back in again good luck everyone.
I'd get elite upgrades.... but sharks scare the fuck out of me.

7 years later, this game is amazing
I've killed all of them. After you get the first one's money it's a breeze to get the other upgrades required to defeat them all.

Nice Strategy there mate! Would be awesome if ubisoft made a multiplier mode for naval battles. Imagine how cool would be to name, design and upgrade your own ship to battle other players online! Thumbs up if you agree!

So I captured my first fort at dry tortuga. I saw a legendary ship icon and I'm like ooh let's check it out it probably won't attack me ( not a restricted area ships don't attack unless you attack first). I had a couple upgrades, and it ambushed me. I tried sailing away, but it was too fast and when it rammed me it might as well have split my ship in two -_-

Right! This tactic won't work then. I got massacred by those fuckers! The way the flank you is devastating
+GerryMOTO They don't if you engage only one of them and stick to it. Its companion will certainly not bombard the own comrade. They're both simple due to their way weaker armour compared to the single legendaries. You just have to fight one after the other and not both at once what would be an utterly stupid idea. And you wanna make sure to not sink the bro before you haven't taken out the second ship as well, otherwise the second one is going to seak for revenge and goes ballistic. As simple as that.
too bad legendary ships can only be sunk and not boarded.
A friend of mine told me that during a legendary battle be let go of the weel and jumped on the ship and was able to send it to his fleet. How ever the ship was very week in the fleet.

RegularZebra007 There was a thing were you could let go just before the cut scene, and run to the front of your boat and if you timed it right you can jump on it and kill the crew, but it was very buggy. Although you couldn't send it to your fleet no matter what

My top 4 of hardest battles
1. El Impoluto
2. HMS Prince
3. HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign
4. La Dama Negra.
Well I did HMS Prince when my Jackdaw upgrades were the lowest in the 4 battles and HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign when the Jackdaw was the highest. I had been killed alot. I find man o wars really easy but you defintely need to figure a good strategy out for those legendary ships. El Impoluto LITERALLY a pain in the ass if you get me right.
El ImPoluto is the HARDEST ship in the game it is what some people would call the ram ship or the flying ship because when it flys over a wave it literally FLYS!
Also the HMS Prince is a deked out Man o' War.

Man, you make it look easy. I've tried numerous times to beat the legendary ships and I just can't get it right. It really pisses me off! I mean, what is the point of the fucking things in the first place?! Sure they have a shitload of money, but they have no other loot, and when you do manage to beat one you can't even recruit it into your fleet - as you just demonstrated. I think that is just *FUCKED!*
These stupid things are my only real beef with this game. Otherwise, it's fucking brilliant. Quite possibly the best Assassin's Creed game to date.
The term you're probably looking for is called a "stern lock" which is basically where you keep your broadside parallel with the width of the enemy ship, in most cases the stern. This strategy is extremely lethal if used correctly, mostly because the only real defense against it is stern cannons or fire barrels, which most ships did not have.

I tried taking a legendary ship I didnt even last 3 minutes.
I miss this game. It was the best assassins creed game of all times. This is the only game I've ever 100 percent all the content.

Ubisoft fucked up big time on these ships. It's nice to face a challenging enemy. But not one so tough you can only beat them by basically cheating. Seriosly, most of it's mortar shots go in a triangle in the dead centre of your ship, making it physically impossible to avoid. It takes roughly 6 seconds to get out of a danger zone which does damage in 3.

Red Winter Yes, it does. But not by mortar shots that are literally impossible to dodge. There's a challenging enemy, and then there's an enemy that has an automatic kill button which can only be avoided by cheating.
***** No, it's an exploit. And not fun gameplay. Any idiot can stay behind a ship. It's easy. It shouldn't be that your only choices are die or take cheap shots that require no skill.
***** But it's a boring tactic. And no, of course you shouldn't be able to go head to head with it. But staying behind it isn't the only way of using speed and maneuverability. How about making it so you have to constantly circle around it and keep your distance, hitting it from the front and trying to avoid it's devestating side cannons? And have it fire mortar shots that can actually be dodged. THAT would have been fun.

The best Man o' wars you can get are from getting a level 4 "wanted" level and capturing the ones that chase you, they're level 60 and 3 times as fast as a the weakest man o' war (in the Kenway's Fleet minigame).
He can just sail away from the thing and the fight will end

Beating all five of these things, if you count the legendary ship that involves two, was a real project, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. My personal favorite was the El Impoluto.
Yeah it was fun. HMS Fearless and HMS sovereign battle was my favorite
Props to you dude for beating HMS Prince without any elite upgrades. I beat it 1st try, but I had Elite Hull so I could take a few broadsides before I went down (not that I let him get that close though). Really the best way to kill him is to keep at your max broadside distance and let fly while telegraphing where he's gonna dump his mortars and adjusting course/speed to avoid them.
I loved El Impoluto. It was so much fun trying to run away at full sail and it was as twice as fast as me and I kept chucking boat loads of fire barrels at it! Basically they were all a fun and new challenge to face since I upgraded my ship 100% and regular man o wars were so easy to beat. *Sighs* I wish I could face them again.

I tried once and failed. I retreated then made all my canons gold and came back. She regretted crossing paths with me. You destroyed it without gold canons. Great job!
Attacking from AFT was my first strategy also. After about 5 attempts I searched for help on youtube. So I found your post. I'm still stuck on it but I'll keep trying using the same tactic. I love this game!

I loved all of these legendary battles after the campaign was completed but it sucks that I can't fight them again they were even pretty easy with the max ship but the hardest legendary battle was the 2 ships at the same time
one thing to bear in mind to fight him in the future. toggle your sails to manage your steering. i can out turn the prince with ease when he tries to ram me. i always was able to ram him, broadside him with heavy shots. swivel shoot him, and then launch another round of heavy shots on the rear all in one pass.
I wish you could actually sail on ships you capture.

I defeated the HMS Prince last night using this method,and getting far out while its trying to make turns and blasting it with mortars, round shots and heavy shots.

The best way to take out a high level ship is, check its guns and barrels, most brigs ships best guns are side guns so get on its back, a ramming ships best weapon is its front so circle around
This was the most intense battle for me it kept disappearing into the fog and I could only see it when lightning struck. I usually get in behind similar to this but it did a crazy job blocking me with mortars eventually I did and it was over pretty quick
I think that it would be really awesome if the ships that you acquire for Kenway's fleet would act sort of like your Assassin's from previous games. You could call on them to join you as a part of a convoy, and they could fight alongside you in battle

i took out the one with 2 ships only losing at most a bar and a half first attempt. but that's with fully upgraded except elite mortar storage, but my strategy is simply to take one on at a time if you can, other then that all you need is skills to do it.

They should've had a ghost ship encounter or two in AC4! Hopefully something like that in DLCs if there will be some.
