    Basically what you're saying is that expensive dryers dry faster and have a longer power cord and are better at regulating heat (but I'd assume you could just use the cold shot periodically to cool it down if it got too hot). I think I'm gonna go with not the cheapest but a cheaper one like $30 since I don't need that many attachments and just care more about the settings and having that ion technology which isn't hard to find in that price range. I can see where professional dryers would be an attractive fit though if someone is doing professional things with it, but for someone who would use it occasionally I don't think I'd use those extra features. Appreciate your input though

    Good video Matt, very helpful. I really want the Dyson but the Shark looks competitive and I've always been impressed with their hoovers! I'm looking forward to your SalonGuy hairdryer review as it comes across just like the knock-off "Chinese crap" you suggested avoiding. I had a Dyson replica which folded just like that and it didn't last long. I'm a bit surprised TheSalonGuy went for this imitation style and even kept the same Dyson pink and grey. At least Shark revised the design to make it their own.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  Před 2 lety +4

      Thanks! The TSG one definitely has the look of a Dyson replica. It operates more similarly to the Shark though in terms of design/motor placement etc. So far it's been performing well, but I'll keep testing for sure and have a full review for it soon!

    I have a Bio Ionic Smart 10x, Dyson Supersonic, Babyliss Pro Porofino Italy, even the Dyson Airwrap, and realized the cheapest has the most wattage at 2000 the other 2 are 1600. So I’m interested to use my Babyliss to compare however the Dyson Supersonic dries my hair so fast so I’m interested to see what difference it’ll make. So your right science matters and my hair is medium fine & curly so I guess I wouldn’t need the highest voltage anyway lol I’m just obsessed with hair tools so next on my list is the Original Bio Ionic X, T3 dryer, Buttercup by DryBar, or the Rapido BabylissPro. I also compare the dryer brushes lol

      Good question - I don't know of any way to find that out for certain. But in my opinion, hair dryers are definitely a "get what you pay for" type of item for the most part, so the more expensive salon-grade ones will typically be better quality.

      What you're talking about is voltage, usa will have different voltages than eu so different outlet plugs. Us residential homes have dedicated bathroom plugs that will be able to handle up to 1800 watts without tripping the breaker incessantly. Anything above that will progressely heat up the breaker sensors faster and thus trip faster. Keep in mind that the wattage listed is the maximum settings, so as long as you're not on full blast for longer than a few minutes at a time, you're breaker shouldn't be tripping.

    I just returned and got a refund on my Dyson. The filter collar on handle broke. I've had far far far cheaper dyers that lasted longer. Since me a friend who worked here in UK for Dyson. PhD in engineering. Her view was it's just not worth it, they have a high failure rate. To add to this my hairdresser says her dysons are always conking out mid dry. She has her standard salon dryers on hand.

      @TDMStyle  Před rokem

      Well, if your hair is straight and you're looking for curls, I'd say you should look into some form of curling iron/rod mostly. But with that being said, you don't want to use that on wet hair either, so I'd still recommend at least some kind of dryer you can use to rough dry first and remove all the moisture from your hair, before curling it.
