Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on CZcams, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on CZcams. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on CZcams, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

“The Drifter’s “
1. Under the boardwalk
2. Up on the roof
Two great early songs
Another: Twilight Time by The Platters (1958).
Yes!!
At the Hop
Earth Angel
Arguably the greatest doo-wop record of all-time. Gorgeously melancholy. #12 Pop and #3 R&B in 1958-'59.
I'm 78 and grew up with this music...thanks for the reaction.
If I'm ever on a desert island this is a song I'm taking and I am only 56/just beautiful Tom
Check out "In The Still Of The Night" by the Five Satins. Recorded in the basement of a New Haven church. An absolute Doo Wop classic.
Yes! “In The Still of The Night”.
The Skyliners were my favorite band when I was a young boy. At the age of 13 this song because it is so beautiful would make me cry. They are still the best doo-wop band I have ever heard
The great Jimmy Beaumont on vocals.
This was before the high tech age. No massaging the voices. What's hitting your ears is pure talent.
Definitely agree...👍
Voice massagers?
Aw Shawn…fun again!!!! Lovvved your reaction! Your true appreciation shines through in your eyes & smile & everything about you!!! 😀
One of the best group of 5 singers of their time in 50s & 60s. Great music to slow dance too...🎶🎤
I wonder if kids today even know what “slow dancing “ is!? They don’t know what they’re missing out on.
@@jessicalee7119 Yes... unfortunately true..
💕♥!! I was under 6 years old back then but always remember and love this song. Such a classic. Such a different time way back when.... Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes to the comment below: The Drifters.
I love hearing these old songs, I was 9 yrs old!👍👏👏👏💜
Definitely love this song. My favorite music is from the late 50s and early 60s even though this is before my time. I will always listen to music from this era.
Another great song from the early 60s is "You Belong to Me" by the Duprees. Love these oldies!
even better-Have You Heard? by the Duprees
What a great singing group
Jimmy Beaumont had some voice, and the group had some great songs!
These are great song, I grew up listening to these wonderful classics, my mother would play them all of the time. I love the 50's and 60's, there is some awesome music from this era that people are really missing out on. Go all the way back to the 50's and move forward.
The Heartbeats-A Thousand Miles Away is another great doo wop ballad.
Great dashboard radio music.
Jimmy Beaumont and The Skyliners. Top shelf Doo Wop group of the 50s. Hit after hit after hit. Just play anything by them.
The is the type of music my father listened to when I was a child. Never heard this song before, though. I'm so happy you're taking some time to go back in time to the beginning of modern music. This is really cool, Shawn!! Motown was fire in the 60s!!
It's on the American Graffiti movie soundtrack album.
check out Kisses Sweeter Than Wine, from 1957 by Jimmie Rodgers, fun song that tells a story
I have that on a CD in my car! I made my own mix tape on cd back in the day off the internet. I got all my mom’s favorite songs!
Great Song! First heard it on the American Graffiti sound track! Great double album full of great songs like this one!
I saw the movie when it came out. It was awesome and SO full of great music.
I love watching you enjoy the great songs I grew up with.
Beautiful song💖💖💖 I never knew who the artist was. Great reaction!
Shawn there was a time when I was going to 10 different reaction channels now I only go to 1 which of coarse is yours, your choices for music to entertain all of us is everything I want to hear, you rock hard , as always thank you for your time and effort entertaining me and the rest of your followers.
So true...agreed 👍
Me too!!!!! 😀
Well said❤
Dion and the Belmonts and Dion on his own.
Do wop to folk.
It was a common practice back then for record company executives to add their names to the writing credits. It was part of the Payola scandal of the 1950s. If you watch the Sopranos, the character Hesh Rabkin was one such record label owner.
Hard to fathom someone not liking oldies, this one’s an undeniable classic 👌
Danmn Shawn, you're taking us old guys back to the School Dance at the gym, getting the courage to ask that one special girl to dance. Taking fire in Vietnam was less stressful.
Those voices ❤
i was first indtroduced to this song from the soundtrack of the 1973 American Graffiti....beautiful ballad, the orchestra I love, and the vocals. I often sing this one with back up music in my key I did myself, in senior homes. Very Romantic song. there's even a clarinet you can he re in this! the soprano girl singer at the end is phenominal! Yes you can hear the passion from this singer in this song.
Love this song! First heard it on the oldies station in the 70s
The coasters had a lot of fun hit songs yakety yak, poison ivy, Charlie Brown. But my friend if you would like to hear them truly sing listen to zing went the strings of my heart. Absolutely amazing!
Oh yes! I can’t wait until he gets to those songs! 😀
Hey, Shawn, in the same vein, if you haven't run across it yet add the song, "Sea of Love," by Phil Phillips and the Twilights. Got to love that Doo-Wop.
This always reminds me of American Graffiti.
Me too!!
I love how Shawn went back to hear the finale of the song a second time. That's enthusiasm.
A perfect song. Great job finding this classic. Thank you.
Shawn, Shawn, Shawn......I was in high school in 1973 when the movie American Graffiti came out - most everyone from my generation loved it. It caused a 50's and early 60's revival, there were "oldies" stations popping up all over the radio dial and we all learned these great tunes that originally belonged to those a couple generations before us. American Graffiti has, without a doubt, the best soundtrack of any movie ever produced!!!! That sound track included Since I Don't Have You. If you wanna know what else to listen to from that era just make a list of songs from that sound track. BTW, you should check out the movie too - a cool, if somewhat exaggerated, glimpse into teenage life during those times.
Yeah Shawn, the Doo Woo era is chock full of fantastic music, & this is one of the cornerstones imo. Just so dang smooth & I could imagine being back then, dancing with my girl! (If I ever get a 50s car, this music is all I’m playing man. I love the ending too, the harmonies & when he hits “you” & she comes in with that power vocal…perfection. Have a playlist & I’d like to share a few if that’s ok, hope you consider reacting to them; “Sh-Boom” by The Chords, “Come Go WithMe” by The Del Vikings, “I Only Have Eyes For You” by The Flamingos, “Take Good Care of My Baby” by Bobby Vee, “Get a Job” by The Silhouettes, “The Stroll” by The Diamonds, “Blue Velvet” by Bobby Vinson, “It’s All in the Game” by Tommy Edwards & “Who Put the Bomp” by Barry Mann. Okay, I’ll stop 😅. Thanks for giving these songs of the past a listen, it ensures they don’t fade away.
For me personally, this was THE definitive song of the 50s. Thanks so much for reacting to it! Other great songs from around this time include "Come Go with Me" by The Del Vikings, "Little Darling" by The Diamonds, and "Since I Fell for You" by Lenny Welch (very similar to this song). Also, there's this great instrumental called "Honeymoon Swoon" by Werner Tautz. All highly recommended.
Love your reactions to all the oldies!
These old Doo Wop songs are just FUN to hear. Check out 'One Summer Night' by the Danleers, 'Twilight Time' by the Platters, 'Earth Angel' by the Penguins, and on and on. Great rabbit hole to just wander around in....
I enjoy your reactions with the music I grew up with late 50s thru late 80s you are bringing back memories for a lot of members thanks. I just told you how old I am. just listen to Don McLean version and it is great sounds almost original
I was born in 60. I know what you've said..fabulous comment 👍
You gotta do That’s My Desire, Dion and the Belmonts.
Good one man, these groups of yesteryear are awesome, right? Hopefully more are coming, cheers Shawn.
Love this song since it came out in the late 50s. Next please do 🎶This I Swear is True🎶. The Lead Singer, Jimmy Beaumont is ranked as one of the very top singers of the Doo Wop period!
Great choice!!!! Jimmy Beaumont was one of the greatest singers ever. I'm listening to this beautiful song over 60 yrs, never got tired of it and one of the greatest songs ever! THIS I SWEAR by them is 🔥🔥🔥 also. Kudos to everyone involved making this song superb. I suggest THERES A MOON OUT TONIGHT by the Capris
I havent seen anyone react to the Fleetwoods
From CT. Freddie Parish and the five satins " In the still of the night.
Thanks, I have checked that one out!
Before my time - but DooWop has always been my favorite genre! When anyone tells me they can sing - I suggest they show me, by singing some doo wop. Please react to the Del-Vikings - Come and Go With Me
You should try The Chantels and their song called ( Maybe ) 1958
I know that you like songs that are emotionally deep. I have a suggestion, if you should want to dive into it. Patty Loveless “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive “. The song wasn’t written by her but it parallels her life somewhat, so she has that emotion in it. The best version that I’ve found is on the CZcams channel stormsontheocean, it’s live. It’s bluegrass music which tends to have a deep emotion in the songs. I just subscribed with this account but I’ve been following you for awhile on my other account. You have good and fair reactions and I enjoy that. Keep up the good work and I hope that you take a chance on this song, I actually think it will blow you away. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
An amazing song. I love that live performance...the album version with unofficial video on "antonio strohs" channel is also great.
@@intothesunset3the video is good also, if it’s the one I’m thinking of with the old photos. I’ve seen few people react to it but they focus on the photos instead of the song. I think he’d enjoy either one if he’ll only give it chance. Thanks for the comment 👍
@@Martin-wn6px Good point, about focusing on the song...the performance you suggested would be best! Sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned the other video (I confess to having a personal interest because I was born there)...the lyrics are so powerful and don't need photos. And that performance is amazing!
That video and song is so good. Shawn should give it a listen, he likes about everything but he’ll love this!
@@johnk275 I agree!
💖💖💖
The Skyliners are an American doo-wop group form the 50's-60's. They are best known for their 1959 hit "Since I Don't Have You". But they had other good songs such as "Pennies From Heaven", "It Happened Today", "Close Your Eyes", "Comes Love", "This I Swear", "Where Have They Gone?" etc.
This I Swear is so beautiful and my favorite.
It would be so cool if you did a reaction to 'American Graffiti'! (Why do I always spell it Grafitti?). If you love this music, you'll love the movie! It's as though you're transported back to the 50s.
Love this song! You should do “Sleep Walk” by Santos and Johnny. One of the greatest instrumentals from this time period.
santo and johnny "sleep walking"
Whoa. What is called The Real Thing! Hey try, the 4 Seasons tune "Candy Girl". Shawn, you from the East Coast? You get it. Thanks.
Guns n Roses did an entire album of covers by bands that influenced them called The Spaghetti Incident. The cover of this song is from that.
Great reaction and song. Maybe try Gonna Be a Big Thing by the Sapphires.
Great original tune though my favorite cover is done by Art Garfunkel The silky vocals, production and horns towards the end is amazing!
Could you react to Little Darlin by The Diamonds. It was released in 1959.
I have done that one :)
Anything by Dion & the Belmonts 50s/60s. But I'm recommending Abraham, Martin & John by Dion
Please react to The Righteous Brothers " Unchained Melody", if you haven't already. Also, some Country Music - Colin Raye " Not That Different"
Guns n Roses did a fairly good cover of this: czcams.com/video/5aUUZBqG4UM/video.html
Do-wap
You probably should take a listen to " high on a hill " by Scott English. Great doo-wop sound. Poor timing. Recorded in 1964 when that genre was enjoying its last glimmer of attention. It had that 1958 sound in 1964 while the British invasion had already established itself.
