  • A24 is one of the most interesting studios working in Hollywood today. They have a huge variety in films and we wanted to explore how A24 knocks it out of the park with nearly every single movie. What exactly makes them unique from other studio and what is an A24 movie exactly?

I'm really happy for A24 success, the fact that this kind of "independent" cinema is doing so well just means that there's an actual audience that wants to see it.

A24 has really proven that these small independent films can be profitable if marketed correctly towards the right audiences. I also want to give credit to A24 for seeing the potential profitability of the more younger and diverse generation and prioritizing in making more small budget diverse films to cater to them while not sacrificing the overall quality of the their films to where it doesn’t feel like cheap pandering of inclusivity, like so many big studios attempt to do for an easy cash grab. Diverse audiences want both representation and quality and it’s shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.

Hereditary, The Witch, The Lighthouse, Midsommar, Uncut Gems, Under The Skin, Ex Machina. This production company proves that genuinely good films are indeed profitable. I am SOOOOOOOOOO burned out by superhero films, sequels, prequels, reboots and so on. After Avengers Endgame I stopped watching Marvel and DC films. I just can’t watch them anymore. That’s where A24 come in. They have made cinema great again. I hope they continue to do what they do! It’s not about making a ton of money from some over inflated franchise. People do want good stories. Despite what Hollywood thinks.

A24 has become my favorite production company. Miramax, Searchlight, Focus, Lionsgate--all great but A24 has rocketed into my #1 spot because of the consistency and authenticity of their films. It truly feels like they're about making art, not money. Although I do hope they make a lot of money so they can keep doing what they're doing.

So true, especially last year when they released so many great films like Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, The Whale, Aftersun, and The Inspection. Unfortunately The Inspection was the film that was largely ignored during awards season which unfortunately led to a snub for Jeremy Pope at the Oscars. Also, Aftersun would have gotten a lot more awards recognition if it didn’t have to compete against EEAAO and The Whale. A24 has so many great films waiting to be released, they should slow down and make sure that everyone of their films gets the same amount of awards attention going forward.

I feel like there should be a video about GKIDS as a whole. As A24 is to contemporary, experimental, and creative movies, GKIDS is to distributing experimental animated films worldwide. I feel like they don't get enough credit as they have not only been the sole distributor of almost all of the Studio Ghibli films, but have also released some pretty good top tier animation that no big studio would take a chance with in these times.

Corporate media can't be authentic. They are exclusively focused on producing a product that makes profit instead of making investing in an artist's vision that people will pay to see.
