    I was looking for odd ideas for my own off road project and came across your channel. Man this 😎.

      Welcome to the channel and glad you found it! If you have any questions just let me know, I should have my TJ up and running again after my transmission swap in the next few weeks hopefully!

    Man, i wish i could afford something like this for my baby.

      Hey Joshua this is actually a very affordable swap! If I had used the original Kubota engine I had bought, a V1903 which I'm using for another Jeep project, the swap would be close to only costing $2200.

      @@RustyAutoholicGuy Wow, that's not bad at all, however, I would need a ton of hand holding on how to do this. Lol, but i'm so looking forward to series, i have a 2.5 4 cyc. I want to do a swap like this when i save some money up. Whats the top end speed going to be like on a swap like this? What are the pro/cons vs a cummings over this?

      @Joshua Davis that is the point of this entire video series. I'm not going to do any work that isn't being documented on camera. That way anyone can watch this series and see what it takes to do a complete diesel engine swap in a TJ Wrangler.

      Thank you so much CHEAP JEEPER! I've been doing this swap now for 18 months and I'm itching to get it back on the road and trails. Watching your videos has been both a blessing and curse since it makes me miss my TJ so much!

      Thank you so much for the sub! So far it's working really well, had some minor issues I had to work through but I'm very happy with how the diesel engine is performing so far!

      @@RustyAutoholicGuy no problem and that's good to hear! I've been thinking about swapping a Kubota into my 2004 Tundra. I was checking out your videos to see how many views they got to see if it would be worth it doing a series on my channel or not. I feel like I will already be pretty overwhelmed with the swap so I might leave filming out

    • @RustyAutoholicGuy
      @RustyAutoholicGuy  Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah filming definitely adds another layer of difficulty but at the same time I can't tell you how many times I've referenced footage I shot to see how I took something apart. I think it would be worth filming and posting on CZcams, just because my channel isn't huge doesn't mean yours won't be. If anything I think the RHD has hurt me on my channel growth!

      @@RustyAutoholicGuy yeah that's true. I definitely go back on my videos all the time to reference stuff. I appreciate the input. Good luck with the channel!

    What's the going rate for a v2203 motor? I have found one that I'd like to put in my cj-5 but not sure if the price is fair. He's asking $450 for it.

    • @RustyAutoholicGuy
      @RustyAutoholicGuy  Před 3 lety

      That's a fantastic price. The cheapest Kubota engine I've bought was $700 bucks, the engine I'm using in this build was $1300 and then I had to have it shipped to me as well!

    What's the motivation? Even with the upgrades, the 2403 is only good for less than 70hp.

    • @RustyAutoholicGuy
      @RustyAutoholicGuy  Před 5 lety +4

      The motivation is increased fuel economy with way more torque than the 4.0l all while being in a smaller package. The V2403 is going to have closer to 130hp once I do the turbo upgrade with the intercooler and adjusting the injection pump timing and fuel delivery. I believe the factory turbo is set to around 6 psi of boost without an intercooler, I'm going to be pushing around 25psi of boost through an intercooler so I will have significantly more horsepower and torque. I'm also using the turbo setup that KubotaSwappers uses on their diesel swaps so I know the engine can easily handle it and I already know what the expected results are as well. I'm going to be monitoring both EGTs and Boost as I really fine tune the V2403.
