I tell ya man it is a really fun little motor for these old jeeps. Since I put up this video I swapped both axles for Dana 44s that I narrowed. Using 4.56 gears now. That was fun for a few months before something came apart in my transfer case. Now I am almost ready to put in a t98 transmission and d18 with terra low 3:1 low range. Lots of good times and hopefully a new you tube video in the near future.

@@mattbranstetter4072 Hi! No i have no experience with the Kubota diesel but i like to watch diesel conversions in Jeeps. I once swapped a Mercedes om616 240d in a CJ-5 Back in the days. I used the 4speed Mercedes gearbox from a Mercedes transporter and made an adapter plate to mate it to the jeep teansferbox. It still works great and the jeep is fun. I run it on 31-10.5-15 tyres and 4.09:1 axle ratio. I couldn't go bigger on tyres as the rpm would drop too much. Mercedes diesels are quite revving and they don't like to be lugged. I have 3000 rpm at 62.5 mi/h- 100km/h. Which is fine. I like the way that my mecedes idles so nice and so when i heard your Kubota i thougt it would maybe idle that nice with lowering the rmp. But as you told now it will not. I tweaked around a bit with the idle setting on mine. On some rpm everything would start to rattle in the car so i tweeked it to find the sweet spot. I like that the kuboto has a turbo. Gives you loads of torque👍 Your Jeep is Great!
If you mean the governor spring, yes. I have been using that spring for 5 years now. I also have turned the fuel up an unknown amount of turns since then. If you haven't adjusted the fuel that may be your limiting factor. I pretty much tuned the added fuel by watching the EGT gauge and trial and error. I need to make an updated video. I just finished my air to water Intercooler and I have built dana 44s with 4.56 gears. I can cruise comfortably at 65mph in OD. On the freeway I am cruising at 62 mph pretty comfortably. Max speed is about 70.

What are getting for a top speed? Any concerns with the diesel not being able to rev as high as a gas engine and sacrifice to top speed?
