Just going to pin this here. Yes I've already tried a different set of memory. I am also well aware of the overpressure problems experienced with either a contact frame or CPU cooler. I originally tried just thumb tight and less so on the cooler and backed off the threads with the frame before I put the stock tension bar frame on. Should have touched on it as something I specifically did while troubleshooting that other stuff. I am on the latest BIOS, I always update shortly after any release because I wanted to ensure that if any fixes came out, I was on it. Here's another small rant about how long I have been messing with Intel CPUs in general and how the band-aid fix of the new BIOS to limit power is just tanking the performance on these chips.

Your running 55c at idle and your AIO isn’t mounted right (tubes on bottom when vertically mounted, not on top) and should be on top of the case anyway. Heat rises, remember?
So you overheated the chip since buying it, CPU dies and it’s someone else’s fault?
Not saying Intel doesn’t have its issues (Been using AMD 20 years) but your PC building basics aren’t there.

I also have the 7950x3D, I don't use the scheduler that comes with the drivers. I found it easier just to do every thing with process lasso. to be honest you really don't even need to mess around with choosing what programs you want the cores to use unless you're playing games and only want them to use the 3D VCash.

Sorry this is happening to you, i don't blame you at all for switching to AMD. This is related to motherboard vendors lowering IA AC loadline with newer bioses. They lower AC loadline to lower the power consumption, improving scores, but the stability goes to shit. You just have to correct the AC loadline yourself. On my gigabyte I had to set it to 0.600 mohm. BIOS would default it at 0.400 which was too low. The chips are fine, mb vendors are shitting the bed with these tweaks.

So I hear you've already undervolted your CPU and disabled enhancements, which is what I thought I was going to recommend when I saw the thumbnail. But you clearly know what you're doing and I'm not here to preach like some IT god. I didn't hear you mention a bios update though. Sometimes memory will have the same issue you're talking about when its a set that released after the motherboard was packaged. A bios update could update the xmp profile for your memory and then retrain it for your system. You literally said not to comment telling you what to do but if you haven't ditched the system yet, a bios update is worth a shot before spending any more money.

I'm putting 253watts into my 13900k getting 5.8-6ghz average and no problems. Go to AI tweaker, find the turbo or boost function, next to that is a "tau" something function that will allow over 1000amps of power on initial boost...

  • @LordKosmux

No, sorry but you don't just give up using a processor like this because it has "stability problems". Apparently you've not tried disabling motherboard features or undervolting manually. Asus MOBOs have that "AI Overclock" that can easily cause issues if you don't pay attention.

cooler is too tight q code 55... you have to play with the seating pressure of the coolers on these 13th and 14th gen mobos as there traces are very temperamental from the amount of force being applied to such a thin pcb these mobo companys are pushing these days... try letting the pump just sit on the IHS with no screws torqued down also since you replaced the original latch you may have that screwed down too tight as well into the backing plate... you'll have to play with them both to get them dialed in just right and keep trying until it boots and you get it not to hang on any q codes... i feel your frustration and good luck.

Intel is pushing their architecture too hard to 'win' benchmarks. That's really all it is. Now, people are forced to fiddle around with BIOS settings to fix the inevitable instability. AMD was more strategic, and came up with an ingenious way to improve performance without shoving tons of voltage down the CPU's throat. And whatever problems they had, they took the blame and did something about it. Intel on the other hand is like: "IT AIN'T ME!! But thanks for the cash, muhahahaha!"

If you cant stick to what ever your budget can do. The 14900KS is an enthusiast chip, therefore you have to be enthusiast, not a regular conusmer that only knows the power button.
But whatever the CPU needs, thats nothing compared to Old School 3way SLI, when I bought my Watercooling Stuff. My most power hungry system had 3 2080TIs and a Threadripper. That computer drew 1300 Watts. A 4090 and a 14900ks only 850. So my Power consumption dropped hard.
