    Export Brace amzn.to/3BeymZm
    It's time to upgrade from the weaker factory cowl braces to the more stout Export Brace. Sometimes this upgrade requires pushing the shock towers apart to get it to fit, but in this video I'll show that is not needed.
    I also fix to ride height issue I had from a previous video by cutting the front springs to drop the front of the car.
    The car is a 1966 Mustang Coupe with a factory V8 and 4 speed transmission.
    This video is a How To Install the Export Brace and cut the front lowering springs on a 1966 Mustang
    Shot with GoPro Hero 5, edited on Davinci Resolve 16.

    I’m not a troll I am a pensioner who loves mustangs and so I apologise if I offended you ,I was only trying to find out the best place in the USA to buy a car .
    I watch all of your posts with the work you put into your mustang, it’s all very informative and helpful.
    Hope we can be friends and start again 👍

      In the US, the best places seem to be Craigslist, Facebook, and Ebay. There are several other smaller sites that these cars can be found, but it seems like most of the cars (at least when I was looking) were on those listed sites. As far as physical location, there are more Mustangs on the eastern half of the country, purely because there are more people, but salting the roads in the winter and humidity can easy cause rust issues for those cars. I had to travel about 1400 miles each direction to get my current car due to the rarity of the Fastback and general availability of these cars at any given time. Naturally, the budget for anyone looking can also dictate how easy or difficult it can be to find a car. If someone was looking for more of a premium car, Bring-a-Trailer tends to have better examples of these Mustangs, as well as the big Auto Auctions like Mecums and Barret Jackson.

    lol i love watching the bloopers as much as watching the clips lol. question, did the export brace improve the handling of the stang? if so how would you rate it?

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, I always thought the bloopers would help, but in the end they were the least watched part of every video, so I stopped adding them.
      YEs, the Export Brace does improve the handling and tightness of the chassis, but by itself it's almost imperceivable. Meaning, most people wouldn't be able to tell if the car had it or not. However, adding this bar with other suspension and chassis upgrades is why we do it. It's the stacking of all these upgraded components that begin to make the car more rigid and able to go around a corner like we want it too. Adding this bar won't hurt the car, and in the end it's still a chassis improvement, but this bar won't help you win an autocross race by itself. :)

    Wanted to do this on my 1965 falcon,but the original brace is welded at the firewall and on the shock tower. Not bolted like a Mustang.

    After you lower the front end you need to check the drivetrain alignment. No more than 3deg out, and 2degs or less is ideal. Sometimes when the back is lifted or the front is lowered it changes this and will cause vibration. FYI

  • @turrisdesign
    @turrisdesign Před rokem

    Hi Andy, regarding your comments on the Monte Carlo bar. When you use a bar with the curve you are losing the strength inherent with a straight bar. The curve is a weak point and allows flexing. I think those curved bars were designed for aftermarket HEI distributors. Regarding the export brace hole patterns, the 4 equal hole bars were used on the original 65 and 66 Shelby GT350's.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      @@patrickdoyle7695 My new car does not, but I plan to eventually put one on. It is likely that your towers will be close, but if not, you can rent a port-a-power and push them out. You can also support the car by the engine mounts and let it sit for a few days, allowing the towers to "sag" just a little bit to give you more room to make the brace fit.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  Před 3 lety +1

      @@Deucealive75 That's funny, I'm getting the Torq Thrusts too, but the Original style instead of the Thrust D's. The original have straight spokes where as the Thrust D's have a slightly curved spoke (to clear later designs of disc brakes). There's not much flexibility with these specific wheels when the bolt patter and wheel width is chosen. The -6mm offset (or 3.75" backspacing) is pretty much the standard with this wheel. Naturally, there are other wheel designs and sizes that offer a range of offsets, but most places selling this wheel only have this specific size.
      As far as rolling the fender, don't let this intimidate you. Unless your car is super lowered, you will only need to roll the front edge of each fender. I have a special fender rolling tool, but it could easily be done with a hair dryer and a rubber mallet. I'll mention that when I do the video on the wheel install. :)

    If you modify the bar you will mess up your front end. The bars are the exact fit , It isnt the bar it is the alignment on your shock towers
