    0:00 Intro
    0:26 German Shepherd
    1:27 Golden Retriever
    2:40 Labrador
    3:42 Beagle
    4:47 Poodle
    5:56 Bulldog

    8:18 Rotweiler
    9:27 Husky
    10:40 Corgi
    11:29 Mutts
    German Shepherd
As herding dogs in the past, German Shepherds would guide, herd, and protect livestock. Because of this, German Shepherds may sometimes act a bit distant or aloof. They will love you and your family, but they may give all new people the stink eye. German Shepherds respond extremely well to training.
    These dogs need daily exercise.
German Shepherds shed heavily and frequently.
    The Golden Retriever
Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds and there are many good reasons for that. These dogs are loyal, active, family dogs.
Unfortunately though, if you are looking for a dog that will protect your family in the event of a break-in, a Golden is not a good choice.
When it comes to energy levels though, Golden retrievers do need a decent amount of exercise.
Be prepared to groom your Golden often-these pups shed frequently, and heavily.
    The Labrador
Labs are wonderful pets for families and children, and they play nicely with other dogs. Labs are so obedient and kind that they often serve as therapy dogs for the sick and the blind.
Remember though that Labs are a large breed and therefore, require plenty of regular, vigorous exercise, in order to stay healthy and fit.
Just like golden retrievers, labs are notorious shedders and have a double coat which needs routine maintenance and grooming.
    The Beagle
Beagles are known for their excellent nose and their love to hunt.
One of the advantages to owning a beagle is that they are a smaller dog with a shorter coat. If you are living in an apartment situation where you have a size limit, a beagle will likely fit.
And remember, Beagles are very stubborn and can be difficult to train. Their bark may be quite sharp. Beagles have a much shorter coat which means less shedding.
    The Poodle
Poodles, whether standard, miniature, or toy in size, are easily recognized by their distinctive, curly fur. Poodles of all sizes need to be brushed daily, and keeping the coat neat and attractive involves frequent trips to the groomer. If not cared for properly, a Poodle’s fur can become matted and poorly conditioned.
This dog is excellent with children, does everything possible to please its owner, is loving and affectionate, and gets along incredibly well with other animals if introduced while young. Even better, due to their single fur, Poodles shed very little and are, therefore, a good choice for owners who suffer from pet allergies.
    The English Bulldog
One of the advantages to owning an English Bulldog is the calm and lazy temperament of the dog. Low exercise requirements allow Bulldogs to be comfortable living in an apartment.
Bulldogs are expensive to purchase and prone to numerous health issues.
Bulldogs shed a moderate amount of hair. They drool often, and tend to be gassy because of their body composition.
These dogs seldom bark, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t noisy. Bulldogs make a symphony of snorts and snores.
    The French Bulldog
French bulldogs make excellent pets for city-dwellers, since they rarely bark, are small in size, and require minimal exercise. Frenchies' flat face makes them unable to cool down in hot weather and they need to be protected from heatstroke.
While English bulldogs require 2-3 a week brushing, Frenchies don’t shed much and one brushing per week is enough to keep their coat healthy and free of dead hair.
    The Rottweiler
Rottweiler may become very territorial of your home and family, and will instinctively find it challenging to accept the presence of strangers or visitors. This requires significant amounts of training and socialization to resolve.
These pups’ double-coat sheds moderately, and Rottweilers are one of the most expensive dog breeds.

    The Siberian Husky
    Huskies originated in Northeast Asia where they are bred by the Chukchi people for sled-pulling, guarding, and companionship. As born pack dogs, Siberians enjoy family life and get on well with other dogs;
The breed's stamina, extreme intelligence and independent nature makes them very stubborn.
    Pembroke Welsh Corgis
Corgis may not be a good fit for bicyclists though because Corgis’ stumpy legs are too short to keep up with the fast pace of a bicycle.
Corgis are often willing and eager to please, but they have a stubborn streak to them that can sometimes become problematic. These herding dogs require a lot of exercise.

    Mutts
These dogs tend to be less expensive and may be less prone to hereditary health conditions. This is because over generations, breeders have perpetuated and magnified genetic flaws in many of the popular purebreds. Pugs, for example, are prone to respiratory problems because of their short nose.

I would point out to viewers that one of the trends of this list is the need for exercise and activity. Think before you add a dog to your family. If you're not willing to take that dog for a long walk or run every day (yes, even when it's cold outside), DON'T GET A DOG. I live in Minneapolis. The Corona Virus has caused an enormous increase in dog adoption and last summer and fall, dogs where everywhere on the sidewalks. As soon as winter hit, it was back to the usual: Me taking my Newfoundland and Australian Cattledog for a three mile walk and not a single dog to be spotted. One of the most important needs a dog has is stimulation, both physical and mental. If you're not willing to fulfill those needs all year round for that dog's ENTIRE life, don't get a dog.
Because without proper exercise that dog will become unhappy and misbehave. Then the dog is relegated to the back yard or a kennel because the owner is annoyed by it despite the entire problem resting on the shoulders of the owner.

He’s great with kids and he never barks or bites and when my dad would pretend to be aggressive to me and my big brother to see what my dog would do he would very very lightly bite him to get him away but my dad is a part of the family so my dog didn’t wanna hurt him. U may think their aggresive but when cared for properly their the sweetest things 🥰

Love mixed breeds and especially adopting them from a rescue so they won't be confined or destroyed (killed). I've found them to have fewer health issues, too. Like it was said in the video... you don't always know what a mixed breed will ultimately become. Then again, every breed has its positives and negatives.

    • @cerebralassassin2185
      @cerebralassassin2185 Před 2 lety

I've had some of these breeds during my lifetime, exposure to many others, but it wasn't until my wife brought home a rough collie puppy that I experienced a 'lassie' dog. Now we have 3 of them and I wish I had know this breed decades ago. Loving, gentle, playful (they love to fetch) and loyal. Never, ever have they done typical dog things like steal food from the table, the garbage, and they accept snacks politely. They will almost explode before they dirty the carped if you fail to let them out to go, and then feel guilty about it. They do like to bark (they are protective) but listen when told to shut up. They are extremely intelligent and learn fast what is expected of them. They shed twice a year on average and you could make a pillow out of the soft inner fur. I'm sad their popularity faded out over these past decades and thrilled that I had a chance to own a few. They make horrible guard dogs, it's just not in their nature to bite people but their size is deterrent enough.

      @asafupps Před 2 lety +7

Right! My little guy Arthur just turned 9 months and he is so smart. He does steal things from the trash and bark but everything else is true and he’s still learning! I’m actually quite glad their popularity faded because people aren’t inbreeding them for a quick buck, so he’s very healthy!

I had a yellow lab and he was my favorite dog! I’m very partial to yellows. I list him too soon from a bad seizure. My husband wanted to get a Brittany. So we adopted one. His energy level is off the charts but he does get in a lot of outside running. When he is exercised enough, he is pretty calm. He’s a great dog too and we won’t shy away from another in the future. Yet, I would still love another yellow… 🥰

I had a mutt that was mostly golden retriever (basically ended up being a miniature golden retriever with a lighter colored coat similar to a yellow labs). Was mostly friendly and got along with other animals except for squirrels(but could become territorial at times, sometimes became possessive of her toys, and became aloof and anti-social when trying to sleep), shed quite a bit (we shaved her in the summer, which made her look like a lab), and she had very few health problems (she had full mobility until the last three hours of her life at the age of 16, only slowing down in going up and down stairs in old age; we had to put her to sleep when we were told she had kidney failure and would go into siezures and a coma if we did not). We took her for 2 mile runs every other day up until she was at least 8, maybe 11 even. She had her quirks, but she was a great dog for us.

Brandon is an amazing trainer, I watch his show every Saturday. And I am so happy to have the czcams.com/users/postUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 book to learn how to teach my dogs the 7 common commands. Sit, down, stay, no, off, come, and heel.My dogs are currently struggling with heels. But thanks to this book I'm learning a lot to feel confident to start working on it.I love that it is so didactic, and it has pictures demonstrating how to do the steps.Brandon is a big advocate for dog rescue. He does it himself, he tells that part of his life and more in this book!

Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book czcams.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.

(I also must add that she is very sweet, gentle and affectionate and acts like a big baby! She’s truly a gentle giant, she loves licking people lol, and She is very whiny)

We've always had rescues! Two from a shelter, one a re-home, and one from off the streets. So we've never actually been able to "research the breed" and have largely just had to roll with it 😂 But there's something to be said about being flexible - sometimes your dog's needs are just the change you ought to be making in your own life. I get a lot more exercise and outdoor time because of my two current doggie sisters (a beagle-corgi-???? mix and a maltipoo) than I did before, f'rex.

From the owner of a beagle think about these things before you get one:
    1. Don't get a beagle if u want a dog that is easy to train and will listen to you, beagles have their own mind, they will only do what u wish if there is something in it for them
    2. I would not suggest getting one in an apartment, they are hunting dogs and usually should have a garden. They also bark a lot so your neighbors will likely complain.
    2. They need lots of exercise and will easily get fat
    3. If you want a dog that will listen to you off-leash, don't get a beagle they simply won't. If they catch a scent, they will not recall.
    4. They usually have separation anxiety and will howl when left alone, your neighbors certainly won't appreciate it
    5. They are sneaky and know how to get their way

I adopted a Siberian Husky 2 years ago. Regarding the shedding, I have 2 roombas and 3 brushes and I usually brush her every other day and fill a entire plastic bag. I bathe my husky every 6 months, they really don’t smell. Im lucky because mine doesn’t like to bark or even howl, it’s very rare when she makes some noises. The responds well to my commands and I feel safe leaving her out leash but I don’t recommend if you don’t trust your dog, they are known to be scape artists but I trained mine and I trust her.

I have a husky of my own.. So here are a few more things I'd like to add. Huskies need constant exercise! About 5 times a day! They love swimming but hate baths. They are independent therefore hate cuddling. They get social anxiety when their owner leaves the house for 30secs. They are smart and will realize when ur actually going to leave them or just putting out the garbage. My husky also found out how to open doors! Huskies do not like strangers and howl for a long time! They do get along well with other dogs their same height. If it's smaller they can accidentally hurt the other dog! And once it yelps the smaller dog will bark at the husky and then the husky will get annoyed and those to will be at each others nerves.

The thing with corgis and probably part of their stubborn streak is they absolutely love to argue, they’re quite bossy and loud, (I don’t know about others but my Rayah makes the strangest sounds sometimes 😂)
Mine loves arguing with me which is just part of who she is, a big ol sassy pants 😂
My corgi will yell at me whenever I say a command, she’ll argue and make me repeat it a few times before giving in. I personally find it hilarious and argue right back with her because at the end of the day she listens just has to say her piece and act over dramatic first, but if you don’t want a dog that will speak their mind and challenge you then the corgi probably isn’t for you. Mine is currently 6 months and going through her rebellious teen stage so I’ve had to be extra on top of her because she’s been testing us lots lol
Another thing is corgis have selective hearing, if mine doesn’t want to do what I’m asking even if I have a treat she’ll actively look for something else to do. I once had to pick up all her toys to get her to do something. If I hold a toy and say a command she doesn’t want to do she’ll either act overdramatic or act overdramatic and grab a different toy off the floor. They’re high energy and very smart, ranked 11th in smartest dog breeds and they need a job. Keep them busy with an hour long walk a day, and on top of that a game of fetch or tug of war. Teach them to weave between bottles, go through tunnels, set up an obstacle course in your house or yard. If my girl isn’t being given something to do then she decides to chase the cats so you need to be on top of meeting their physical and mental needs. Make them work for things too, stimulate their minds. Puzzle toys are great too. Sorry I’m talking a lot lol
