Here it is May 2021, it still hurts to know he is gone. He made music for all of us and was happiest playing for us. Thank you kind, gentle, soul and spirit
Losing Tom Petty was like losing a large part of my younger life. When I still had so much energy you couldn't keep me down. Just like Tom Petty. Every time I hear his music I feel my young spirit and don't want it to leave. Just knowing "never again" makes my own mortality real. Shy but what a suttle sense of humor he had. He was in the best part of my life and though I still get teary eyed sometimes, I watch his videos and smile and I am back there again. I know it wasnt always easy for his life to make great memories for us. So Thanks Tom for all you sacrificed, sharing your songs, your words we'll never stop singing . Don't know what its like to be you Tom. But, getting to the point. What a damn nice ride it was to be a fan.
Tom Petty is, was, and always will be amazing. I’ve seen him several times live and he always blew us all away, to quote this song. The guy can never be replaced. One of the great ones, not just his music but concerts too. He was having fun as we all should. Miss the guy.
I've seen "TP" as diehard fans call him at least 12 times.....that's pretty good for a cornfed boy....still call him that after forty-odd years.....snuck into one show lol

Impossible to pick a favorite song, so many great ones ! Thank you for the magnificent music Tom. They'll never be another that comes close. You'll be missed
I never realized how amazing he is live. The more I listen to him the more I like him. When I first heard him years ago- I wasn't really that into it- but now it seems I'm almost glued to his videos on youtube.

@@boatguy64 Sadly we just lost the last original member of Molly Hatchett as guitarist Steve Holland dies 3 weeks ago. Steve was the youngest members of the originals as he carried on later with his group Gator Country. I grew up in the Pensacola Beach area and Molly Hatchett used to play at a great huge bar called the Barrell's in Pensacola. I know Danny Joe Brown's widow. I spent a few years on Jacksonville Beach and would hangout at the Free Bird Café on the beach and spoke with Judy Van Zant the owners quite a few times as she would drop in every now and then.

Wow, what a performance. Tom is blessed with so much talent yet he presents himself and the band in such an understated way. No bullshit or pretense. Kick ass rock n roll with an incredible groove, what a gift.
Very heavy riffs that only Tom Petty could lay down. November 2023, with 2024 creeping upon our souls Too bad we can't share it with him. Great musician
I've had the privilege to have experienced Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers live 3 times at one of the greatest venues in the nation, Red Rocks in Colorado. He was an amazing artist! We miss you and your music Tom!
No artist's death hit me harder than Tom, don't know what it was about him but had been a fan from the get go and saw him live 3 times and there was just something about him that really made me feel like I knew the guy. Silly I know but when you practically grew up on his music and couldn't wait for his next project, it just feels that way.
I never cried upon learning of the death of anyone that I didn’t know personally until Tom Petty. I am blown away in that many of these posts are by people who really were moved by him even though they only saw him once or twice live, if at all. I am certainly very blessed to have been to approximately 40 shows. Since 1981, I saw every tour, and being from the New York area, was fortunate enough to often go to two different venues during the same tour. For the Echo tour in 1999, it was three shows, with one at Irving Plaza being sort of a warm-up for the tour; a very small venue that was the most memorable show of all of them. They played for a long time, a lot of covers, just seem so relaxed and it was very intimate. I was also lucky enough to be in the front row in Hartford in 2014. The look of joy on all of their faces, after all those years, yet it looked as though they had just hit it big and were blown away by it. They never lost that appreciation of the fans, and that authenticity was what made them the best band in rock ‘n’ roll history from my perspective.
I just "discovered" Tom Petty after he had passed. I'm 63. Yes, I had heard of him, but my own taste in music was directed in other areas. I really started listening to him and this great band just in the past few months when I decided to get serious about playing the guitar...so sorry I waited so long and will not have the chance to hear him live. So many great songs I'm really hearing for the first time. RIP
I didn't seem to think much about Tom, and when I heard he was going on tour in the PNW, a I looked into it and barely scored a couple of tickets, and took my wife to her first ever Rock and Roll concert. We saw Arlo in Corvallis about ten years earlier, but, you know, the cops, no wait, that was a line out of his Motorcycle song. The arlo thing was a sea of rainbow shirts and gray hair. It was awesome. But Tom, and Steve Winwood before him was so very cool. But when I got home sometime later, I looked through my Vinyl collection, and I had about half of the albums he produced before 1990. Including the first one. Wow.I better plug in that USB turntable.
Tom Petty is an exceptional musician who wrote songs from the depth his inner being knowing silence was an exceptional ability to integrate within the notes of delievering a poet s truth of shimmering light of absolute echoes of notes penetrating within his soul.
Unique performer songwriter Tom Petty , with a great guitar Mike Campbell, plus live support band, that was unbelievably so tight, this was one of the best show performances that I have seen RIP TOM you were magic.
I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers six times. The first time was in San Francisco in 1978, and the last time was on his final tour in 2017 in Austin. On the later tours, I had one or more of my kids with me, and they seemed to understand why I went to see him so many times. He was the best performer I have ever seen and I have seen many great musicians and bands. He was always relaxed, natural, humble, and just so damned good at songwriting and performing. The day he died hit me hard, and my old college buddies and I texted about it for days. The Rolling Stones have always been my favorite band, but he is a close second, and his shows were better than anyone else's, bar none. He just gave himself to the crowd when he played. RIP Tom.
There I was in a sanitorium with chicken pox in '79 when T Petty and his Heartbreakers came on TV.. I was captivated and have followed the man and his music since. Like someone said, it's hard to accept that he's gone but that's the way it is. Guy was so laid back, he could have anybody's brother, producing wonderful sounds RIP, man.
Tom Petty is a legend. Other musicians, and I mean the very best, were in awe of him. I put him right up there with the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc. in how important he is in to music. Absolutely brilliant.

I've been at least 4 lake front concerts and he is by far the best from studio to live . Dude was exactly what you wanted. Saw him with Jimmy page tour ridiculous talent
he was in the top 100 but his loss wasn't that significant. yes he was talented, but you have real deep emotional problems if you're that tore up over someone you could never be close to period. he didn't care about anybody other than his own family, his band and the money he took from everyone who bought his music and the concert goers which he cleaned up on at the end of the night.
I saw the first concert at Irvine Amphitheater which was Tom Petty . 3 hours of straight ass kicking music. Afterwards the six of us couldn’t find our cars. Dude where our cars. I think late 70’s . Great times . RIP Tom sure do miss you .
My Dad said he'd work til the day he died ... And he did. Him and my mom were a country band in Pittsburgh - though he swore of POP Country in the 70s he continued to play folk, gospel and bluegrass teaching anyone that wanted to learn in a coffee shop and a music store. Tom had the Same Morals ... Share His music with Everyone ... til the day he died. Tears as I Know They're Part of the Greatest Band of All in Heaven

I was upset when I woken and heard he died, I threw my phone into the TV and ruined them both, the end result was "it was worth it"
And thanks for the memories...

Tom’s in heaven playing he’s one of the best “one more time to kill the pain” 2024
Wow, what a performance. Tom is blessed with so much talent yet he presents himself and the band in such an understated way. No bullshit or pretense. Kick ass rock n roll with an incredible groove, what a gift.
That was so well said. My sentiment exactly
We'll always and forever ❤️ you Tom❤️ RIP. ❤️ What gifts you gave us! Thank you for your music 🎶💕
Very heavy riffs that only Tom Petty could lay down. November 2023, with 2024 creeping upon our souls
Too bad we can't share it with him. Great musician
RIP and Thank you so much for the music you brought to US.
I cannot believe Tom is gone. RIP Tom, you are and will always be my favorite song writer.
Merideth I agree !!!
I've had the privilege to have experienced Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers live 3 times at one of the greatest venues in the nation, Red Rocks in Colorado. He was an amazing artist! We miss you and your music Tom!
Wish you had invited me! I'd have booked my plane ticket immediately.
No artist's death hit me harder than Tom, don't know what it was about him but had been a fan from the get go and saw him live 3 times and there was just something about him that really made me feel like I knew the guy. Silly I know but when you practically grew up on his music and couldn't wait for his next project, it just feels that way.
Treetop Flyer , echo your sentiments my friend, lost a legend, still hurts me the same
I never cried upon learning of the death of anyone that I didn’t know personally until Tom Petty.
@@TLTommy77 Jealous? Who me? Of all those concerts? Betcha bustabazoolas!!!!!!!!
3 years gone and tomorrow would have been his 70th birthday.
RIP Tom
Brought up in 85 so i always gonnna listen to Tom Petty, my fathers favorite.
People like these rockers make me love the human race again❤
You know you've made a difference when people miss you and honour your legacy. Legend!!!
One of the greatest musicians of our time. It is truth

same here friend love tom petty miss him so much...RIP Tom your music lives in our hearts,,,forever..
Tom petty is from my hometown, Gainsville, Florida. I love Tom. Greastest muscian of all times.
What a great musician he is.
they;)
don't you mean what a great musician he was because he is past tense now...
Tom Petty's Music will Never Stop Being Listened To By Me & Many Others Until WE Die. My Future Americans Are Able To Continue To EnJOY. Long LIVE Rock n' Roll. :-)

Oh I just fucking cry when I watch him live....he was the soundtrack to my life growing up...oh God I miss him so much, him and Bowie...oh when kieth leaves I really don't think I could deal with that...

Classic Rock Songs by "Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers ", Thxs.,Merci.
He was from another place. He went home. Thanks Tom
I've been at least 4 lake front concerts and he is by far the best from studio to live . Dude was exactly what you wanted. Saw him with Jimmy page tour ridiculous talent
BEYOND A HUGE LOSS!!!! THE GRIEF IS UNFATHOMABLE ! THIS....WAS A TRUE TRUE HEARTBREAKER!!!!!!! THE ROCK INDUSTRY WAS TRUELY ROCKED
he was in the top 100 but his loss wasn't that significant. yes he was talented, but you have real deep emotional problems if you're that tore up over someone you could never be close to period. he didn't care about anybody other than his own family, his band and the money he took from everyone who bought his music and the concert goers which he cleaned up on at the end of the night.
I think Daddy Skydiver did mention the fans too.
@@daddyskydiver9996 I wish you;d SkyDive on out here you don't know what you talking about leave the Great Tom Petty Alone.........
Yes~!

@Daddy Skydiver. You will notice present tense comments were posted before TP’s death. No need to “correct” everyone.
Highly enjoyed everything about this band!! Hope to see you again❣️Wish you all the best!!
I love that he always has a look of... "I can't believe this is really happening" :D
Tom petty is so dope!!!love some tom petty!!!
Best comment I've seen tonight and it's three yrs later. Thank you. One of my top 5 faves.
dope is what killed him BUB, he wasn't dope, he was a rock roller and a storyteller.
Tom you pulled me thtu some rough times never thought seeing you on the last DJ tour would be my last heartbreakers concert you may be gone but you're beautiful music will mever die ,R.I.P. you served your craft with distinction my friend ! God bless
