I was 17 for most of 1982, my birth date being 31/12/64. Loved the stray cats then. And I still do hence me replying to your comment tonight. Brian and the rest of the band are absolutely brilliant. Can't say underated as this guy has and still gains so much recognition for his contribution to rock a Billy and rock and roll. He's up there with the best. A true legend. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Saw Stray Cats in Sydney Australia in 1990 and 1991. Fantastic rockabilly band. We danced for hoyrs back then. Not sure I could keep up now. But hey it was fun.
I remember this song was really popular when it came out. They were out there on their own with their rockabilly style back then but people loved them.
Saw them at the start of their first UK tour 1979 I think. I was about 2 feet away from Setzer on stage and his amp was sooo loud but unbelievably good. Never heard anything like it before or since. He gave me a drink of his beer from stage and his pick at the end. What a fanboy I was. Saw them a couple more times but the first is always the best.
Speaking as a guitarist ( know) the sheer maturity of Setzer's musicianship in this - total command of a genre that requires the player to really know their musical onions - at such an early age is pretty mindboggling.
