I found my wife on a regular dating website in Jan of 2008. I just fell in love. But we had a conversation about Jesus and she repented and opened her heart to Him. Now we have 3 kids, they are christians and love each other. We thank God for bringing us to each other. She was 22, I was 27. Now we are 38 and 43.

I'm 17 and have gone through a couple breakups. I've experienced a lot of loneliness and wasn't led by God in those relationships. I'm thankful to Him because I'm starting to feel better about being single and waiting for the right man to find me. I know He has me in a season of waiting and I want to take advantage of it to grow closer to Him, like you said Ally. Thank you for sharing this, it encouraged me so much. I know the Lord has the right man for me and will bring us together at the perfect time.

It was indeed very challenging to hear ''the don't pursue part''. I am a pursuer, in all aspects of life, and the romantic one isn't the exception. I Wouldn't necessarily pursue a Man the way they normally pursue us women, but I would definitely be friendly if I've already seen in a Man the characteristics of the kind of godly man I look forward to marrying. --- besides, what a blessing this video has been, thanks for sharing!

Also, if you've never read the book of Ruth, it's one of the most beautiful love stories in the Bible and it's also a picture of the love Jesus Christ has for us as He is our Kinsman Redeemer.
Basically Ruth made known her interest to Boaz, and he was very surprised. You see, she was young and beautiful, and as he was older, he didn't think she would be interested, and even though he cared for her, he didn't express those feelings as such.
So if Ruth had followed your advice Alley, and never made the first move as we might say in our time, one of the most beautiful love stories in the Bible never would have happened. So I think you give generally good advice, and I think generally it is good for the guy to make his intentions clear and make the first move, but there are definitely circumstances where it's okay for a Christian woman to let a Christian man know she's interested, especially if she feels the Lord is leading her in that direction. ❤✝️🇺🇲🇮🇱
    Ruth 3:8-10

Hello, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! The Book of Ruth is a beautiful story indeed, and I love how it reveals to us what Jesus has done for us! I am so glad you brought this up because I have definitely wondered the same thing. It can appear at first glance that Ruth provides an example of a woman initiating a romantic relationship with a man rather than waiting on a Christian man to show initiative and leadership in potential dating for marriage relationships.
It’s important to look at the genre, context and author's intent of the book or passage in Scripture. In the context of the book, Boaz is Ruth’s kinsmen redeemer. Boaz bore a familial relationship to the family of Ruth’s husband. Therefore, Boaz had certain obligations to Ruth if her husband died and she became a widow. Those obligations included redemption of family lands, protection from poverty, and in certain appropriate contexts, marriage to a male relative’s widow. Ruth is asking for Boaz to bring her under the authority of his house, to redeem her from poverty, and to provide for and protect her because of that pre-existing family relationship.
Although marriage turns out to be part of the result in Ruth's case, there is no correspondance, culturally or exegetically, between the role Ruth plays on the threshing floor and a 21st-century woman initiating a date or romantic relationship with a guy. A closer modern analogy would be a woman who asks her father (or another male Christian relative, pastor, or couple in her church) to provide oversight and protection for her by vetting potential suitors, providing counsel during a dating relationship, and helping see her through to marriage. Ruth is not on the threshing floor asking Boaz out for coffee because she is interested in him, and he won’t make a move.
Like you said, the overarching message of the book of Ruth ultimately points us to God’s provision of redemption for us through Christ.
I totally understand the temptation to read Ruth in the way you described, and I have heard others describe it like this. In love and respect for truth and for you, I have offered this interpretation that the book of Ruth does not provide an example of a woman romantically initiating with a man, nor does it teach that such initiating in a modern dating context is the biblical model for dating.
Is it sin for a woman to ask a guy if he wants to grab coffee? I don't think so. And I will note that women don’t need to let guys initiate all the conversations and avoid talking to men altogether. However, when it comes to initiating steps toward a closer relationship and marriage, it is important that the man initiates. The Bible emphasizes the importance of men taking initiative and leadership within marriage (Genesis 2, 1 Corinthians 11, Ephesians 5).
If the foundation or beginning of the relationship is built on the woman taking the lead, it may set a pattern of the woman leading in the future, rather than submitting to her husband's role as head. I only make mention of this because I have seen it happen many times, and it can be a tough dynamic to navigate for both parties if not addressed and corrected.

This is so random but, are those sunflowers in the background? I have a secret object between me and God to confirm if the guy who I am getting to know is the man I am to continue with it. And sunflowers was part of the code, I have seen so many sunflowers recently and I was still doubting whether it was from God, but now seeing this today. I feel like God is trying to show me very blatantly that it is from Him.

@@allypoirot I didn't really elaborate on this, but yeah I basically agree with you. Just to flesh out my comment, a man is born without value and must obtain that value, and how to do so is never clear, or easy. They're no tutorials for a man's journey. Women are the choosers, not men and that matters, it means that men have to compete with each other in a dominance hierarchy. Women do have a journey as well, but it's much a easier path; be attractive, be feminine, be highly moral, etc. This is overly simplified of course, but that's what I meant in my comment.
