Not sure why Faye is getting credit in this video for being confused. She blindly read the card without doing any critical thinking. Warren was at least smart enough to realize something was wrong.
Thank you! Beatty was clearly trying to get her to help him out and figure something out and Faye just quickly said La La Land. Don't know why she never gets blame or hate for this situation.
@@jurney3478 Jimmy Kimmel said on another podcast that Warren and Faye had been arguing backstage about who would announce it, and it was decided Warren would. Then he saw something was fishy and said "fuck this" and handed it to her.
This was on the heels of Steve Harvey's debacle in announcing the winner of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.

6:50 This isn't entirely true. People WERE getting on Warren Beatty's ass after what happened - including Emma Stone, who in the press room after the fact essentially told the media Beatty was lying and she had the Best Actress envelope the whole time (which in turn is what prompted the explanation that there were two envelopes to begin with). Can't really blame the old guy for trying to defend himself that night.
The worst part was they didn't fire that Matt Damon looking idiot whose job was to oversee the envelopes. He was too busy posting instagram pics.

This happening and then only 4 years later having the Anthony Hopkins Best Actor no-show to close out the ceremony and the year after that being Will Smith slapping Chris Rock is so insane and might be the only thing keeping surprises in the Oscars alive. MOVE THE OSCARS UP TO MID JANUARY

Another thing that was pointed by the Vox Channel after the fact was the design of the cards that induced the errors. Warren and Faye were given the wrong card, the best actress award, but that card had the name of the award with a small font, the name of the actress with the name of the movie with the same font.
So, if anyone recieve that card and read it, the first thing that would caught your attention was La La Land Emma Stone.
They changed that design after.

Will Smith played an "edgy" version of the Genie in the live-action Aladdin from 2019, or as Amanda likes to call him, "the Genie Who Fucks".
I can not pass the fact that Jordan Horowitz very disrespectfully grabs the envelope from Warren's hands, out of rage probably, but it will always be a sour image and Beatty was unfairly treated even though he knew something was wrong. Most people around him were just respoding to their primal insticts and he was trying to figure out the mistake.
I thought Horowitz very smartly displayed the envelope specifically so the telecast cameras could zoom in and dispel any confusion.
@@nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn618 Of course he wanted to show the evidence of the mistake that happened but look the way he takes it, that’s anger and his eyes also are fulled by anger disguied as the typical cool guy who wants to do the right thing. He also kind of ruined the way Moonlight was announced as the winner, it was already an anticlimactic moment and he made it even more so, instead of letting the presenters do it, he took the spotlight and wanted it to be his moment. The intention might be good but the way he did it was disrespectful to all parties.

Liked this video but when was the last time she actually watched this clip? Warren was clearly confused and trying to get Faye to help him out and she just quickly said the wrong winner. Dont know why he gets all the blame she gets to skate
