    Thank you so much for making this video!! I'm a senior in high school and I've applied to 6 schools. I've heard back from 4 and have been admitted in to 3 of them. I live in Miami Fl but my #1 school is in Tacoma WA (which Is one of the 3 I've gotten accepted into) Im absolutely thrilled I got in but terrified to make the decision of going. You're video has definitely given me some points to think about before making my final decision. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK :)

I have a friend who goes there and really likes it!! Making a decision is so scary and overwhelming but I know you will make the right one and be happy wherever you go! If not, TONS of people transfer around it honestly surprised me so much! Best of luck!

    I live in tiny little Belgium and I love how you think studying 2 hours from home is close :) Here, not all students live in a dorm and we go home every weekend. My campus is about 30-45 minutes from home, but I do have a dorm because it's nice to have my own space. I looked at a university that's about 2 hours away and I decided not to go there because it wouldn't be as easy to go home regularly.

  • @adventureismymiddlename3736

    I totally agree with visiting colleges more than once. When I was looking at colleges, the first one I knew was not the right one for me. I fell in love with the third one right away, but I revisited the second one I had gone to as well as the third, and I came away from it, knowing where I wanted to go and knew it was the right one for me. I feel if I hadn't gone back to the second one I had toured after the cluster of first tours (I did three college tours within like a week), I would have always kind of wondered "what if I had gone there". The school I went to, has the best / most well-known program for the major I started out with. It also had the major I ended up switched too, which worked out amazingly. I had looked at the other schools I was looking at after the fact, and they had nothing similar or close to what I ended up majoring in, and that was my Major when I graduated.
    This is some good advice for those looking at going to college.

    I love this video so much! I'm currently a senior in high school and am seriously considering UOregon. I know you are involved in greek life, something that really interests me. The only thing that makes me hesitate about it is that I'm not really a partier and drugs and alcohol aren't really me. Is it ok or is the greek life mostly about parties? Thank you! Love you!

    • @KiaraMadisen
      @KiaraMadisen  Před 7 lety +13

      OMG girl this was so me 1 year ago!!!! I am not a partier and have never drank alcohol. It's not that I don't like being around it, bc I like going to parties with my friends, but it's just not something I am interested in participating. I was very concerned about this when I was going through the rush process. I can confidently say that greek life is SO much more than partying. That being said, there are lots of parties and lots of girls drink. BUT nobody knows that you don't and so it's no big deal. Every house has different reputations (some of them are true, some false) and I have found that if I don't want to drink I just don't go to the parties that much and I participate more at other events or just spend time with my friends studying! This is getting really long but I hope that helped and if you have any other questions feel free to ask them and I would be have to answer :)
      -on a final note, I feel like people really respect girls that stick to their decision about drinking and in a couple years you will be 21 and do whatever you want then :)
      xoxo, Kiara

    This was such a helpful video! :D im a senior and im debating between UO and another school.. I visited the campus recently but I just didnt feel like it was for me because there didnt seem like a whole lot to do around the town-- maybe I just didn't explore it enough(?). This video is making me rethink things and possibly giving it another look! It is a lot less expensive than the other school which is a total plus for me!! any more insight on what the campus vibe is like would be greatly appreciated! :-)

    • @KiaraMadisen
      @KiaraMadisen  Před 7 lety +1

      Good! I am so glad this video was helpful because I was in the same spot as you a year ago, did not fall in love with UO, and was looking for more info but nobody had anything to say about it! Not sure where you are from, but I am from Portland where where is a lot more to do there then in eugene. HOWEVER... I get out A LOT and the bus is free with your id card which is great. There are some awesome cute coffee shops and places to go and hike you just have to be more creative with where you go. Let me tell you I am SO happy I am here. Saving your parents money is a HUGE plus! That way you can bring your car to college, be in a sorority, travel more, all with the leverage that you are literally saving your parents thousands of dollars! Everyone is so cool on campus ( I thought EVERYONE was a crazy super vegan hippy feminist) but there are so many people like me and I have met so many friends! I hope this helps! What other school are you deciding between??

    • @rockstar13studios

      TheKgstyle but thing is... I'm seriously considering UCLA 😱 the best film school in the world is there and if I get accepted to it, I'm 99% sure I'd take their offer even though it's a little farther away than other schools😁 I've already planned out my UCLA film school application video and essays and I'm so serious about this school and I'm so afraid that if I don't get in my dream of getting a major in film production will be ruined 😁😁 I don't really want to go with a minor because I'm 100% sure I want to be a filmmaker and I think a different major wouldn't be beneficial to me, you know? But seriously once I apply and hear back from the schools you need to help me out because you're a pro at this 😜

    • @KiaraMadisen
      @KiaraMadisen  Před 7 lety

      Lots of people are from out of state here!! It's an amazing school, but like all colleges the out of state tuition is crazy expensive!! Honestly, ask about the unique programs here to see if there is something to be a part of that makes it worth the extra cost. School is expensive but if you have a strong reason to attend and or a plan of how to pay for it (being an RA one year, getting a campus job, applying for lots of scholarships) then it is so so worth it!! I don't know a ton about establishing residency because I am a resident, but asking about how to do that would be helpful because if you do live your uncle you may be able to pay in state tuition for a few years which would save a lot of money!! I hope that helped! If you have any other questions please let me know and check out my Q & A to see if I can answer any of your other questions!

    Being a houstonian it is so crazy to think that there are ski teams for high schoolers.

    I live in New York, but just visited the UofO because I really like their human physiology major. I am Pre-Med as well! Any experiences or tips you have related to your major and pre-med requisites would be so appreciated!! I'd love to hear your side

      That's awesome!! I have a suite mate from Boston and despite being so far from home she loves it! The Human phys major can be a bit difficult freshman year if you are not ready to dive into tons of school work bc chem take up so much time! But it is very doable and last term I got a 4.0 which was well deserved but also really exciting. I love the program here and if you are pre-med then this school is totally for you!!!

    I'm pretty much doomed my senior year. I messed up really bad freshman and sophomore year due to a lot of events in my life I RECENTLY got my ish together this year but my college counselor said no matter what I can't get a 3.0 and that I should look into community college. I want to go to a four year but have no more hope.

      @KiaraMadisen  Před 7 lety

      You still can!! I know people went to a four year school at my high school and they had terrible GPAs! Don't give up hope! Also don't forget that going to a community college is never a bad idea and can help you save a ton of money! Keep applying you never know what you could get into :)

    I have a question, University of Oregon is my number one choice and I've been accepted, but how do I sway my dad to support me in going? I am an out of state student and my tuition is higher than normal, which is making my dad, whom I live with and is my main support factor, shy away from supporting me with this school. Do you know anything that helped you discuss finances, or any programs/scholarships that U of O offers that I could mention to ease his money oriented view?

    • @KiaraMadisen
      @KiaraMadisen  Před 7 lety

      That's super hard!! My parents are just like that and for me as an in-state student, going here was a good option. In the end money should not be a problem and should not limit you if you want to go here. Is there a specific unique program that is only offered at UO that you are interested in? If so I would talk about how valuable it is to go here. I applied for LOTS of scholarships and because of my high GPA was about to get a lot of money to go here so you may find out more information when you get your financial aid package. You need to personally weigh your decision and know if you go here it may cause you to be in debt once you get out of school, but if that's how important it is for you to go here then do it! Or look into going to a local college for two years and transfer in. There are tons of options, but the most important thing is to know what you truly want so your dad can share your same passion! Hope that helped :)

    What does she mean by a Nike campus? I may have heard that wrong but that is what I heard.

      I just mean that Phil Knight has poured a lot of money into the campus and provided equipment and nike uniforms so there are always updates going on and our sports are big here! :)
