Actors respecting the source material? What a breath of fresh air.
Umm...most actors do unless told not to. Its the writers/directors/etc who are the problem.
@@kittenmasaki I'm not sure that's necessarily true. I think many, or maybe even most don't actively disrespect it, but you rarely hear them talk about it, that's for sure. That extends to the showrunners and writers too. With Fallout, you can see that passion from everyone and it is reflected in the show itself. Lore purists can complain about details all they want, but they can never say that anyone related to this show does not care about the source material or it's fans. I guess that's what is really really rare, sadly.
That's why Henry Cavil was also so good at playing Geralt. And sadly that's was also why he left.... Don't understand why some producers just cannot stick with the original material, and always try to push some bs in the project. I mean, the KNOW the audience WON'T LIKE.
@@soniccinos Hubris, sheer fucking hubris. They don't like the source material and/or think that it should be used to push some modern agenda. Witcher is excellent example of that. Or Amazon's Lord of the Rings. I'm convinced that everyone who is involved in it actively hates Tolkien and his work.

So amazing to see Aaron killing it. He was my acting coach/counselor all throughout high school at summer camp. He is the best.
He gives me Denzel vibes. Amazing actor forsure. U had a good coach u should be a pretty good actor/actress as well
He's REALLY great in the show and his character is a lot different than I expected. He has a lot of nuance in his performance!
He's my favorite from the show, incredible. you can tell he's an incredible person as well
Is he gae? he acts super gae / flamboyant .. I can't put my finger on it, in interviews etc. But in the show he plays a straight character. And he acts different obviously but his lip pouting etc still come through.

I give Fallout 10/10 and these two actors have a lot to do with that.

@@phonymex3340 I feel the same way! That being said, Aaron is playing him brilliantly...and we don't often get to see someone play a character that wants to be very good, but also does bad things. I have a feeling his arc is going to be really intriguing.

That is honestly such a great take, turning what I imagine is already a fun job into an experience for everyone AND for a good cause too.
I don't think it's important for the actors to have played a game for an adaptation but I do think it's important that the directors and writers have. They need to know the way the game's world feels so they can figure out a way to bring it to life. You can't get that from reading a synopsis or watching a video on the internet.
I've watched, i would say high chance the directors have played the game, they nailed it with little details and reference from the game, not to mention they also works with Todd himself. Not a perfect series, but i would give it 8.5, definetly better than most game adaptation tv show out there.
Oh they 100% nailed the game-like feel. I was watching it and my dad asked me, "is that a videogame"

the writer did play, the lead of the original fallout game met him at the holywood premiere and he said he did play all of them:

They nailed it. Everyone is pretty happy so far with how faithful they were to the series. I'm excited for season 2 please don't mess it up!
Ella is amazing as Jinx in Netflixs ARCANE! That show is a masterpiece on every level. I highly recommend everyone watch it.

She was amazing as Jinx. Mia Sinclair Jenness did an incredible job as Piwder too, especially considering how young she was while recording 😭

When I imagined fallout as a show, I didn't expect that it could be so good. Props to the actors that brought it to life.

She’s good in pretty much everything she does.
Crazy how I didnt really care for Max at the start but by the end, he was actually the most important character for me.
He had an amazing arc.
The reason this show is so successful is because you can tell everyone invested in the source material. The actors know so much about the games unlike other shows or movies where you ask an actor a question and they have no clue what the game or comic book is about. Fallout tv show is amazing! Season 2 gonna be epic!
I hope if they do Fallout 5 and it's LA or San Diego based, they add Lucy as a character or NPC you run into. That would be fun. Same with Aaron's Brotherhood

Aaron's sweater is beautiful. Haven't used a sweater in years myself, but the design is great.
I've been watching all the interviews I can find and it really convinced me that this show is going to be really good.

this is a great interview, love your questions and you can tell the actors really enjoyed hearing something besides the same three topics they've been getting all day lol, they both gave some great insightful answers and i love the shoutout to the doggos 😂

Great job interviewing them. They seemed very happy and engaged with the questions, and you did it in a clear and concise way with lots of charisma to make them feel at ease with their answers. You need to teach a master class in interview technique if you don't already!
Fallout was the first game-TV adaptation I've play then watched in a long time that didn't break that world. We need more like this, with writers, etc that cleared love and honored the source material.
Maybe that's a low bar, but it's one that almost all recently have failed miserably at, most memorably 'the witcher'.
I was SO skeptical when I first heard about the show. Got more intrigued as the trailers aired (and bonus points for the trailers teasing the show rather than spoiling it) When I watched the show, I was blown away, SO well done. Really happy with how it turned out. Everything was spot on, and the acting is so good.
As a fallout fan I’m very happy to see the Fallout TV Series is a very good example for a video game adaptation done the right way ✅

BRILLIANT first couple of questions, because it is no where near as important if actors have played the videogame, as much as it is that the game director is involved, the film/tv crew understand what it is they are making, much like any other series.

I was really apprehensive about a fallout adaptation but I think these two and many others did such a great job, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm also grateful they took the time to sample the source material. Unlike the mario movie where he half heartedly gushed about "stomping koopas" lol

The charity stream of Fallout 4 is a great idea. They should do it soon as possible to don't lose the hype.

One of the sweetest things I've seen on the internet in a LONG time was the VA for Aerith playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and hearing her voice come from the character from the first time. It was genuinely wholesome in so many ways. But I also think that it would depend on the person and the character they played. Personally, I would LOVE to watch these two play Fallout 3. NV, or 4 separately and then get them together to discuss how their playthroughs were different from the other.
The three have SUCH potential to be bright beacons in the fallout community (like how the tf2 voice actors are for instance)
I think it's more important for the writers and directors to have played the game, which for fallout the main producer is the creator of the game and Nolan's brother who created the film series is an avid player of fallout

The Last of US TV is a great example of the actors/team following the game and it being perfect because it was designed to be the same thing while Fallout TV and game are designed to be different but in the same universe
I think it really depends on the game itself, last of us had such an amazing story that has very concise plot points to it. It doesnt need to be changed, and another story in the same universe doesnt make sense. Whereas fallout, the games are so good not because of a specific games story, although those are good, but because of the world of fallout. The lore behind it, so it makes a lot of sense to create a new story with the world.

Those two seem really pleasant and personable. The idea of the charity game streaming is a phenomenal idea. That would certainly bring in a crowd.

Fallout has a distinct feel and aesthetic. The subtle dark atmosphere and subtle comedy and feel of the world are embodied in the games. Playing through a few hours of one of the games gives a great depth of understanding of what it is to live in that world. It's not another dystopian story, it has its own feel and narrative. Well worth researching for anyone on the crew of the show.
I was so surprised at how great this show was
The same thing happened with The Last Of Us and it was excellent, partly because it is important to analyze your character, especially if it is already written, but another thing is that the same developer, director or The video game company gives you the story or the script of the character and you can capture the essence, and that concludes in one thing, the ability or dedication of the actor.

The actors may not have played the game (except Ella who said in another interview that she played Fallout4), but clearly EVERYONE ELSE involved in the show knew what Fallout universe look like.
The scenery, wardrobe and overall vibe & feel was on point with the game imo

Series is better than actual game.
More important for the creators, writers and producers to understand the lore and enjoy the world.
While it is important for actors to understand, what is it they are bringing from one format to the other, it is primarily director's, producer's and writer's job to learn the source material.
When they don't - we get Witcher.
When they do - we get this.
While I don't like beth and what they've done to the lore, you can clearly see that authors knew what they're doing.
A lot of scenes look like they could exist even in two original Fallouts.
Okay I fast-forward watched to see what the black dog was doing. If you are a dog fan this video is cute. Ella is a dog person. Now I will actually listen to the interview.

I've never played it myself but I've watched playthroughs and read my cousin's comics, he's been playing the games for years.
What I'd like to know is when will someone create a Mass Effect series and or movies starring Commander Shepherd and the crew of the Normandy? I could see Ella playing Shepherd's most popular love interest Liara T'Soni, just paint her blue and slap some tentacles on her head, viola, you have everyone's favourite sexy Asari scientist, and Aaron as Jacob Taylor, he's already got the space soldier experience.
Obviously i have no experience in this as an actor, but if i had to guess, in a situation like this where an actor is playing a role for a video game character in the Fallout world, i don't think playing the games is that important for them. The story and the script are in front of you - so what would an actor be able to contribute to that? It's incredibly more important for the writers, set designers, producers, etc. to have played the games and understood the world they are building around.
