I once had a problem with one of his paints (maybe something happened during shipping).
So I wrote to Roman Szmal watercolor support, I didn't know he would answer me himself. He solved the problem wonderfully and I am very grateful for the time he took to give me the solution.
I wish him and his company continued success. 🌱

So nice to hear from him in person. Aquarius has become probably my favorite watercolor brand to use. I've acquired nearly the full line by now, not because I need them all, but because it is such a joy to experiment and play with the varieties of colors. The unique pigments are also very intriguing. I can't wait for whatever he releases next!
Also, thank you so much, Jackson's, for making these so easily available for us in the US to get ahold of. I remember drooling over videos of them back when they were still brand new in Poland, thinking I'd never get to try them myself. You folks are fantastic.

Absolutely love Roman Szmal watercolors!!! They are affordable and you get full sized pans. Colors are beautiful. I’m going to have to try the Buff Titanium now.
Aquarius Grey is the one he was referring to as the most "contaminated" so it's a darker Buff Titanium
No he mentioned both buff titanium as a great mixing colour and titanium grey as another colour. Buff titanium is one of my absolute favourite mixing colours.

I am happy using full pans of Roman’s paints so tubes, while good to have, are not necessarily the attraction; what keeps me with this line of excellent paints is his understanding of what artists want most, and the never ending effort to improve the colour formulas.. like modern alchemy, but using pigments! :)

I just ordered a bunch of the paints and I am ridiculously excited to receive them. The affordability of them is just fantastic and the colour range expansive. I love that they are available in the full pans and I can’t wait to use them and make some beautiful art. I really liked hearing how passionate he is about his paints and making them unique.
I love Roman Szmal paint and want to keep adding a few more pans at a time. I enjoyed learning about Roman’s process and the care put into creating his watercolours. It made me appreciate the high quality he produces especially at such an affordable price.
My set of colors is just traveling to me, I'm waiting for the courier :) I'm happy I found this interview.

Thank you so much Mr. Szmal, I love your watercolors! The only thing I wish next is that you have an official partner/distributor in the Philippines that doesn't sell your beautiful paints triple the amount.
I paint for fun. While not exactly a newbie, I'm not quite a polished expert either. That being said, I know what I like. These paints quickly moved to the top of my love list. I love these paints, I love the way that they mix, I love the way that they look, I love the way that they *feel* when I am painting. And what a wonderful interview! It really helps when you can put a face to the name and enjoy it so much. Thank you.
His are my favourite of all watercolour paints. My favourite colours are Aquarius Green, Misty Morning, green gold and Lavenda. Beautiful. I am happy to know I am suporting a smaller buisness. 🙂

Buff titanium is wonderful. I make my own Buff titanium gouache and its value in colour mixing is enormous. What a charming interview. I love these vignettes of paint makers. Keep them coming.
I absolutely love his paints. I first heard about them from CZcams paint swatcher Jay Nathan, so I bought a few to try. I was so impressed that I now have 24 different colours, all of which are beautifully made and have rich pigment content. They wet very easily and mix superbly. I have a lot of fun with them.

Thank you for your wonderful paints! It took me some time to get used to them. Don't know why really. Because now they are my favorit by far. I love your approach and that you listen to what artists want. And I am looking forward to the tubes. To fill up my almost empty full pans...:)

My one wish would be for the paints to be available more widely ( Ireland, for example? 🙏). I used to buy mine from UK, now it's not an option, luckily I found a source in Germany and order from there, but the price of the shipping really hits the pocket, and when I think,how many Roman Szmal paints I could buy for that amount of money, it gives me anxiety 😂

The Aquarius paints are around the 12th brand of watercolours that I bought and the ONLY brand that I go to every time I create. It was so lovely to see and hear Roman speak about his paints. Thank you Roman for creating such beautiful products that I absolutely love to use!

Greetings from Poland! I am very proud of the Roman Szmal brand. These are amazing watercolors and I'm happy to paint with them
I love Aquarius paints. As someone on a budget I can afford to try so many different pigments that would other wise be out of my budget.
They are absolutely excellent quality for a really reasonable price. In Australia they are cheaper than student grade but are most definitely professional grade paints.
His mixtures are second to none. He doesn't just create colour mixes because it's cheaper or it's done but because he can do them really, really well.
I'm absolutely thrilled that he's started selling half pans so I can create a nice small travel palette and pleased he is going to do tubes. For most colours I'll probably still use his full pans in the studio but will but the tubes for colours I use a lot like buff titanium and indanthrone blue. Nice to put a face to the brand name.

This is such an interesting video. Roman Szmal Aquarius are my favourite watercolors and I have a big collection. They never disappoint me. I wish Roman and his business all the best for the future. And I hope the paints are going to be more available in Germany some day soon.

I’ve been painting for over 40 years, and when I tried Roman Szmal paints, I couldn’t believe they were as good as they are. They’re now my favourite brand of paints, and I’ve ditched most of my Winsor and Newton. I hope they continue to be affordable.
I love these paints and hope to build up a palette with more of these as atm I mostly have the unique colours.

Can you make a non pastel version of lavender perhaps non granulating? I’ve never seen a brand carry a blue violet like smalt pv15 WN or the Prismacolor imperial purple that didn’t granulate. It’s just a perfect blue violet in a color wheel.

My 9yr old son has a gifted talant for sketching which include drawing objects, characters, perspective etc. What can I do to get him recognised?
I'm not an expert, but since nobody else has answered your question yet, I would like to make some suggestions.
1. Talk to his art teacher. He/She will be more familiar with what is possible in your area.
2. Have your son build up a portfolio of his work. He should practise a lot, take classes, expand his skills and knowledge. If he takes professional art classes, he will get into contact with professional artists who will be able to tell him more about how to get more attention and recognition.
3. I don't know how it is in your country and area, but in Germany banks sometimes have exhibitions of young artists. I don't know much about it, but an art teacher and a good portfolio would certainly help with such an exhibition.
To sum it up: A lot of dedicated practice, a growing body of finished pieces and contacts to the art world should help your son's art jouney.
