@@sole__doubt I get what you’re saying but at least the signature on the fender is on the back of the headstock where really only the person playing it will see it. This Strat looks like something you might walk into a pawnshop and buy and that’s what I like about it. I’m not a Pearl Jam fan I don’t hate them they’re just kinda meh to me but Mike is a great player no doubt. I think the fact his name isn’t all over it will help it sell to people like me who really dig the Fender Custom Shop relics but simply cannot afford a 5-6000 dollar guitar. Almost every guitar you pick up has someone else’s name on it signature model or not Ibanez was the last name of a Spanish guitar builder, Gibson, Fender, Jackson, most brands are in fact someone’s name. I’m not sold on the epiphone greenie but this Strat looks bad ass You get a few better specs than you get on fender Mexico stuff typically too, Slab Rosewood board is huge in my opinion if it ain’t slab rosewood on a fender it might as well be maple.
On the other end of the price scale, Fender currently has Squire Affinity Strats (only in Surf Green) for $149 shipped. I want them to sell out quickly so I don't have to rely on my own self control to keep me from ordering one. ETA ... well they raised the price to 199. Still a good price but not the killer deal it was at 149.
Man almost $2000 for a Mexican Strat… prices have gotten completely out of control. Especially being that you’re swapping the pickups, I really don’t see the value for you to have picked this one up. What am I missing?
The price I kinda get, everything is crazy right now, but seeing as how pickups are 40% of the sound (my opinion obviously) I agree that spending that money on a new beat up looking guitar to change out the pickups is baffling. I guess that's all a matter of perspective and priorities though. To each their own!

I like Pearl Jam, I think Mike McCready is awesome, I like Stratocasters, relics are a personal choice I can't really get behind for myself, you like, you ROCK it!
I don’t care this guitar is everything I want from Fender in a Strat it’s so cool it looks fantastic and I wouldn’t have to worry about scratching it it’s got the right amount of relic and really only PJ fans would necessarily know it’s a signature . Who doesn’t want a well loved worn in three tone burst Strat ? It’s awesome I might put a tortoise shell pickguard and a Duncan 59 or JB in the bridge or a double cream dimarzio would look sweet in there too. I really think Fender got it right on this one and I don’t care what anyone else thinks .
I have considered ordering one of these. I am not a relic guy as such, but I don't mind if it is a repro of an existing vintage instrument. Haters of vintage repro-relics haven't a leg on which to stand.
Relics of any sort are just another finish option. No different than lake placid blue or seafoam mint metallic. Pick whatever gets you off. Doesn't matter if it's a reproduction or not.
Relic'd guitars aren't my thing. But like you always say it's your guitar, not mine. Sounds very nice. And for certain fans of Micheal Mcreedy and his work, there is certainly a a cool factor. I certainly like and respect his work. I have an American Standard Tele that is very nicely relic'd that I've been relicing for about 32 years. For me that has a cool factor for sure. Is the feel of the relic job actually like a beat up guitar with raw wood, or does it look and feel like a half ass paint job reliced in looks only. I guess I’m asking if the guitar looks and feels like it was painted with a stencil and not really reliced ?

That case looks like my American V 2 case. Im so over cases. I have way too many hard cases. I think if could I’d sell them all except keep one for each shape.
@@18thandMission That's not really even true as much anymore. The younger generations don't care about that like older gens so. That's why there's a dwindling demand for Gibsons and Fender on the used market. Prices are tanking in the past few years. There's not much investment value in guitars now, especially going forward since guitar based music is possibly the least popular and least marketable genres around anymore. And those who do buy guitars are fine with the budget stuff.
@@yargnad I disagree. I know 16 year old kids into blackface fenders and vintage gear. and, american strats will always hold more value than a mim on the used market that is a fact. It's a cool guitar and I actually like it alot, I just don't like the price for a mim sig model. To each their own tho.
I think these are very cool, and thought about getting one, but i hate vintage/reissue fenders because of the truss rod. Price is also weird when the vintage ii is like 200-300 bucks more.
Jesus......damaged in transport. I couldn't imagine unboxing a 'new guitar' and seeing that. Relicing a guitar is a sham, it's false, not real. If that's your thing then enjoy.

Buying a guitar with another mans name on it is a no go for me. Im trying to create my own sound and style but thats just me.

You forgot the lazy looking obviously stenciled ‘relic’ work on them all……
Just sand off the signature, and then you can be yourself….might as well be all stupid…

Haha...I held out as long as I could. But I looked at it once, and Fender kept sending me text messages. I finally broke down a few days ago
