- G-Shock Lume Enhancement Tips! I talk you through a couple of tips that I use to enhance my G-Shock luminosity. By utilising an ultraviolet (UV) light such as that on the Nitecore MH27UV torch you can charge luminescent material with an extra bright vibrance!
Trust me it is not fun to be in a unfamiliar hotel room in a storm and there is a power cut or blackout. You don’t have your natural bearings and can spend time fumbling around to find where to go. I give a brief personal story as to why the use of UV and luminescent material can be genuinely practical - this relates to a time when a hotel I was staying in in Thailand was hit by a big storm and lost all electricity. You can even consider modding your G-Shock or other important items by adding luminescent material to make them easily identifiable in the dark. Make them glow, be prepared in case of a blackout.

Thanks for the tip! I just got a g shock last week. The hands were not really glowing much but after recharging with my flash light for just a few seconds there is now a huge difference in the luminosity.
Yes it's a useful tip and tends to last a fair amount of time if you use a UV torch. If only the light on the watch itself was UV then it would charge the dial in a stronger fashion. Cheers!

Nice video, Thanks. Have you seen the Pro Trek PRG-650, 'Night Safari', That one has that kind (or some kind )of lume material in the inside of the strap, Also when it auto-lights, it does via a UV light to illuminate the face, and also charges it at the same go. Good video, thanks again!
I hadn't seen the Night Safari until you mentioned it but I just too a look online - very nice. That's a very clever setup to use UV to Illuminate the face that I've wondered about before. Should definitely be done for more watches. Thanks for the tip off! Cheers

How long does it last after a short (seconds) UV exposure? Minutes, hours? I own a GA2100.
In general I'd say if you are using it in the dark afterwards you will notice a difference for quite a while, perhaps an hour. If you are in a fairly light environment you don't see the difference for too long, maybe a few minutes. Obviously the point is to help you tell the time in the dark so it really helps in that regard. Cheers!
Does the lume wear out quicker the more you use it? Or does it get stronger the more you use it?
I haven’t noticed it wear out in terms of its brightness if that’s what you mean.
@@stormrider1119 i guess what i mean is, should i be charging the lumen as often as i can? Or will that "burn" out the lumen? Or should i use it only when i need to, in order to prolong the life of the lumen? Sorry i hope this isnt too confusing
I own a protrek PRW 5100 year 2014 model and yes after number of years lume wear out. Before my watch lume used to keep glowing for over 45 minutes and now on exposing to the UV light now it only glows for 18 minutes maximum.

It’s one of those random things you find on eBay or Amazon.I actually glue it to things I want to find easily like my torches, very handy.
How long does the lume last after a UV hit.
If it’s properly dark it makes a difference for 20 minutes or so. If it’s not so dark not long at all

Another UV option would be the Olight I3UV. £14.95. Thanks for the video. I like G-Shocks and torches too. I have about 50 G-Shocks and 40 torches. Mainly Olight, Nitecore, Klarus and Acebeam.

G shocks have led lights on analog models for a reason lume doesn't even matter
Thanks for the comment Abeer. Agreed its not that important for most people although there are some scenarios where sometimes you would not want to activate your backlight yet still see the hands and hour markers. That's when lume is useful.

Sadly doesn't work. Have a new mudmaster and the lume is very poor with natural light. Can hardly see it in the dark. Used a nitecore key ring Uv light for ten minutes and it looked fantastic. But it fades not much later to nothing. So can't believe this at all.
So it's not going to stay as brightbas when you first charge it for much time, but if you are genuinely in a dark environment the latent affect of UV charging makes a significant change on my watches compared to having no UV charge. If you are in a low lit room for example the effect isn't so noticeable. I personally find it very useful in a house with no lights on, for example, or camping.
