It's not true when they say they're not a lap dog. Mine LOVES to snuggle and cuddle with me. His butt sleeps right besides my head. However, he is EXTREMELY LOYAL AND PROTECTIVE. He has bit my brother THREE TIMES bc my brother yelled at me. Mind follows me to the bathroom...anywhere I am, he MUST BE. My previous pap, was a puppy mill momma and she had so many issues; but I loved her so much bc of the life she had. She was not as vocal as he is (it took her 6 months to bark and it's only bc she wanted a piece of kielbasa - which I almost killed my brother for giving her a piece). They are not good guard dogs obviously due to their size, but they are great WATCH dogs. He notices EVERYTHING...this breed is EXTREMELY SMART.
That's an irresponsible thing to say here. People who want a lap dog shouldn't be encouraged to purchase this breed. The Papillon needs a lot of exercise and stimulation that people who want a lap dog won't be prepared to provide.
We’ve owned papillons for years. We currently have 4. Plus we have friends that own papillons. It is our experience that many of your pros and cons are false. You need to stick to Cocker Spaniel commentary.
i have a papillon and she is very cute. but yes, she growls a lot. But she also is very strong and her bark is powerful. she also is very friendly and shes lovable. she lays beside me everyday

For example, papillons are generally thought to be a healthy breed (relative to other pedigree dogs). They are also often cuddly, though this is subject to individual variability.

Another two cents. Some of the dogs in the video look like Chihuahua/Papillon mixes...known as "Chion" or "Papihuahua". I have one such dog and its amazing.
Why do these dog youtube channels always talk about a specific breed but show a video of a totally different dog? Like here you’re constantly showing chihuahuas not papillons
Some of the information was accurate, but pictures were often of long-haired chihuahuas, not PAPILLONS! How terrible. And poor quality. Papillons are barkers.
It is time to put an end to the nonsense that they "don't know how small they are". They are perfectly self-aware. They are willing to challenge animals it would be wise to leave alone because of their temperament. They are OVERCONFIDENT. But I repeat myself.
"Not good if you have a big yard or farm" NO!! Paps need a lot of room to run! I had dachshunds my whole life, and they do not. Rescued a pap-dachshund mix, and he was being very difficult until I realized he needs about 2 miles/day (or more) of brisk walking to tire him out. Found out that's typical of paps - they need to run/walk more than you'd expect from such little creatures.
Easily trainable? Please convince my Papillon female when she needs to do her business outside when even a few drops are raining down. She will hold it until she can't anymore and drops it in the house. PLEASE, some one tell me how to beak her of this. I'm her third owner because she refuses to be housebroke when the grass is wet.
Look papillion don't like to pee outside when wet or raining, try placing a puppy mat for weeing on in the same area when you know she is about to wee place her on it. Give her a treat after using it I taught mine to pee on the puppy mat in our bathroom he uses it everytime

they are good lap dogs depends on your desire. Just like any bread it takes time and TLC ... to raise them. Like any dog bread they need their rest. But smaller dogs don't mean lesser attention. They are as much dog as a bigger dog bread. Just the basic needs all dogs need
Thank you fellow commenters for pointing out shabby work. How else will videos claiming to inform ever improve. I would like to add that the silly statement that small dogs don't know they are small! Of course they do! They just don't think size is as important as confidence/aggressive display and of course they are right, usually. I wish people could hear how ridiculous and uninformed they sound and STOP SAYING IT.

If you want to get a Papillon be very careful who you buy from...verify before you buy. Lots of puppy scammers out there.
