100% Todd....all instruments and vocals are him.
Todd is massively underrated. This album, Something Anything, is a classic.
“Hello, It’s Me” and “Can We Still be Friends” are mellow and more in this vein. “Bang on the Drum” is a banger! 🔥
I don't wanna work, I just wanna bang on the drum all day! What a fun song!
"We Gotta Get You A Woman" for starters. A fun song.
Todd Is An Iconic Musician That Is Still Playing Today.
I would play this . I listen to Todd Rundgren all the time. This song is permanently on my play list. As are many of his other records. I grew up on this music and have seen him live many times back in the 70s.
Yes, dive in! Todd Rundgren was inducted into the the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Definitely do "Hello It's Me", "Love is the Answer", "Bang the Drum All Day"... And maybe do "It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference", "Can We Still Be Friends",
Love is the Answer (the version with his band Utopia). And Hello It’s Me.
Check out Todd Rundgren 50 years older singing this song with Daryl Hall on Daryl’s House. Thanks for the review Biz
Yeah, yeah. Todd’s catalog is So worth digging into. So great on so many levels.
Todd Rundgren had a lot of hits but he also PRODUCED on a lot of hit records. He was an awesome producer.
In my 60, long gray hair with the pony tail. Long ZZ Top beard, lots of tattoos. Got the bike, the sunglasses, the works.. In public, only listen to Bob Seger, Led Zeppelin and so on......................... But at night after every one goes to bed,....... I go into my weed room, close the door, put my headphones on and dance my brains out to this song..............
Todd is my favorite artist!! I prefer his love songs but enjoy almost all of his music. I saw him from a long distance at the Denver Airport and I approached him. Thanks to watching so many CZcams videos of his concerts I recognized him immediately even from such a long distance away AND he was wearing a mask 😮😷 He was so nice💕💕💕
Heh, I was five when this song filled the AM pop radio airwaves. I remember hearing it on the radio in my dad's work truck when he picked me up from daycare on his way home from work. I remember that we were heading into the setting sun and ever since then I've associated this song with sunshine. The title fits that too. Todd Rundgren is underrated. His music, his production work, his contributions to computer interfaces, and his stepping up for Liv Tyler. Top notch guy all around!
Yes! Todd Rundgren is fantastic.
IN TODD WE TRUST
Another MUST HEAR Classic,, Joe Jackson "Is She Really Going Out With Him?"..TRUST ME!!
Todd has so many styles. But he is a master of a hook. And, as someone else said it's soft rock, but I've seen him live a few times and he can play hard rock with the best. For more soft rock, check out Hello It's Me. Beautiful song. Probably his biggest. Came from the same album as this song.
Love is the Answer, We gotta get you a woman, Bang the drum all day! 🔥
Rundgren wrote this song, produced it, sang it and played all the instruments on it. Peace out.
A Must Hear Classic,, Todd Rundgren
"We Gotta Get You A Woman"
This is "feel good"music! I don't have it on my driving playlist, but I threw it in my soft rock category. Either way, I remember when my sister brought this double album home. She's 12 yrs older than I and I was in the 2nd grade in 1972. Even being that young, I recognized great music. It's been a true privilege to have experienced first hand, music from the 60s on up.
Todd is playing every instrument on this song. It's off his great double album set Something Anything. Other Todd classics are - "Couldn't I Just Tell You", " A Dream Goes on Forever" (mellow), "Black Maria" (Todd as guitar God), "S-L-U-T" (rocker), "Just One Victory", "We Gotta Get You a Woman".
This also is one of my favorites, in other words, an endless list. 🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸👍
Great words of wisdom!! Some guys aren't cool with their softer side. You need confidence to do so. ❤✌️
One of the most underrated singer/songwriters/performers of all time. Seems like so many have forgotten about him. 🙏For the reaction. And bringing some light 💡 on him current day. ✌️😎
Todd is one of the 70s geniuses that came up with many' ''It's ahead of its time''' type of songs and a wild album called Wizard A True Star and then formed Utopia . .His albums are well worth a huge dive into starting with the the first album titled Runt , it is great ..
Todd Rundgren one of the originators of MTv when the actually played music videos.First album a double album 3 sides were recorded in his apartment he played all the instruments..Produced Meat Loaf when nobody else would touch them.
@kimmo mäki and as most would say not much in the way of hit records after S/A..He was a very talented person to say the least Much like Al Kooper you don't hear his name much but he has a massive resume.
You could make that a bumper sticker: "Real human beings enjoy beautiful shit." ;)
I do love Todd Rundgren.
DEFINITELY worth diving into! Todd has covered SO MUCH ground in his career….pretty much every genre…power pop, singer songwriter, blue eyed soul. , hard rock, progressive rock, acapella, even some hip hop. A true genius. Three sides of this album (including this song) are all todd…all instruments, vocals production. He has done several albums this way. People are going to suggest mostly his more popular tunes…i would recommend going the other way. ‘The verb: to love’, ‘Bread’, ‘don’t you ever learn’, ‘’hawking’, ‘utopia theme’, ‘fascist christ’…..just a few
this guy had 100% soul! i have a lot of his albums! listen to his catalog!
Great song! Hello it's me is really good too 😁 A very talented musician 🎶🎶
"the Todd" baby! Now you got me my friend
His _A Wizard, a True Star_ album is a trip.
Always one of my favorites. So many great songs on it, and "Just One Victory" is one of the best things Todd ever recorded.
TODD RUNGREN, "I SAW THE LIGHT". All music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Every style, and jaundra. If the song was good, we knew it would last ❤years. Become a iconic classic. Guess what? They have ...
COULDN’T I JUST TELL YOU by Todd
I knew you would love this! He has so many great songs and it's definitely worth taking a bit of a dive into. Todd raised Liv Tyler as his own. Her mother was a groupie believe it or not. Regardless, Todd's music takes me back to my young years and it always feels good. I got to see him at a small venue and made my way to the front of the stage. It was the BEST show! He even had a Tiki bar on stage and pulled some people out of the audience to sit up there during the show.
Todd Rundgren. I liked his songs a long time ago, then I got more into heavier rock and just didn't think about the guy. Many years later I heard one of those old songs of his that I'd liked and thought to myself "Y'know, this guy's work is better than I've really been giving it credit for." Todd's songs are kinda different, but I like the ones I've heard quite a bit.
Biz, for the most part, the songs that you react to are the soundtrack to my childhood and teenage years so thank you. I so hope that you enjoy your journey through these songs as much as I did the first time I heard them.
Check the live version at daryl's house . Great sounds ! You know daryl . 💯
Love all things Todd !!!!!!❤
Heard this song a hundred times and I love it, but I still don't know the lyrics or what it's about 😅 and I just think that goes to show how important the melody and the vocals are. Was like that with hundreds of songs then. The _sound_ was just beautiful.
Todd Rundgren? Oh hell yes! From this album alone, you should at least react to "Hello, It's Me" and "Black Maria". An earlier song you should react to is "We Gotta Get You A Woman". I bet you'll start crackin' up while listening to it.
Just a great song love the lyrics again from the 70’s.
i never understood that way of thinking either, which is why my music library is massive.
Keep riding this train. so many songs that are incredible.
Check out His Song called
Can we still be friends video ❤
Great songwriter, producer and guitarist. Underrated as a singer; he has some real Philly soul. He also has a massive catalog, and you can get lost in there. Start with the albums
"Something/Anything" (which this is from) and "A Wizard, A True Star"..."It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference", "Couldn't I Just Tell You", "Hello, It's Me"...
The way I hear the song is that the problem was all in his head. Then he looked in her eyes, and realized that she was the one for him. I don't know if I'd recommend a deep dive into Rundgren, but you should at least hear "Hello It's Me".
🎸💯 Todd Rundgren is extraordinary‼🔥
BizMatik, you know I believe that if more uptight people would chill, relax & listen to great music, there would be less crime, hate and pissing, moaning & bellyaching‼4REAL‼☮ ❤ 🎶
Loved this song from the very first time I heard it
To some Todd Rundgren is more famous as a producer of some iconic bands. He has been very innovative as a songwriter, producer and a computer wizard. "Love is the Answer", "Hello it's Me", "It wouldn't have make any Difference" are good songs. All the Utopia songs. And you have probably heard it and not known who it was, but "Bang on the Drum All Day".
Some fun facts for you. Todd Rungren lived with a well knows rock groupie and thought he had a daugher with her. Later on it turns out her real dad is Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. She is a famous actress now Liv Tyler. Also Todd wrote many songs including "Love is the Answer" recorded by England Dan and John Ford Coley.
Hello It's Me is my favorite of his
Beautiful love song. He was called "the male Carole King" and he hated it. He should have been honored and taken it to heart. I think we all would have heard a lot more from him. I swear I hear Stevie Wonder influence in this song. All that said, for what he did for Liv Tyler and her mother, propels him into sainthood status IMHO. He stepped up and made it count.
YES DIVE ! You will enjoy the swim !
A perfect pop song
Todd was the main musician in Meat Loaf’s debut Bat Out Of Hell album….also Max Weinberg played drums on the album….
We gotta get you a woman, is another great one. I love this song too.
😂😂😂
Todd!!!
Great song Terry Hall did wonderful respectful cover
Todd was 17 when he wrote this song.
Definitely worth diving into!! You should check out any video from alive From Daryl’s House. My favorite from those is -Sweet
My favorite live performance of his is - Love is the Answer and Just One Victory. czcams.com/video/6h1N_6LtUrY/video.html
ANOTHER treasure from Philly
Excellent
Todd the god is definitely worth getting into. You'll see the light. Yeah. Peace
This is a great album - I had it on 8 track 😅
i still have the album!
I always thought he was overlooked because it was hard to say his name.
“Hello it’s me” has to be next.
The single greatest musician ever.
blue-eyed soul!
He played all the instruments on this song (and 3/4 of this album)
This song is DOPE! or should I say GREAT SONG!😉
Todd Rundgren/Hello, It's Me ALBUM VERSION!😊
It’s a sweet song❤️
☮️💙💙💙🔥
"Fair Warning" Enogh said!!!
Love Is The Answer
Verb To Love
Black And White
Black Mariah
Bang On The Drum
Just One Victory
A Dream Goes On Forever
To give you some idea of the kind of guy Todd Rundgren is, he helped raise Steven Tyler's (Aerosmith), daughter from the time she was born until she was nearly a teenager, because Steve was partying way too much and he had picked up a heavy addiction along the way. (Todd had even signed the birth certificate as her father.) She found out young who her real father was though. His catalog is huge. You should really check out "We Gotta Get You A Woman", "Hello, It's Me", and "Real Man", for starters. Also, "Bang The Drum All Day" and "One World-Utopia" are well worth a listen or two. Peace out!✌😎
When do music like he does the rewards are own a land in Hawaii and produce great group
Listen to Piss Aron off the same album. Jim
Listen to Hello it's Me
Decent song. Soft rock. We were force fed this song by FM radio.
I'd eat it for breakfast lunch dinner and a midnight snack 😋
Nobody force fed it to me. Give me seconds and thirds please. Over the many past decades I've never come close to being sick of this tune.
Mushy and easy
I like Todd rungren but as far as I'm concerned he's a 2 maybe 3 hit wonder !? Saw him about 7 years ago in concert , And in between songs he was talking to the audience and some dude yelled something out and he immediately told him to shut the eff up ! The whole audience got silent , He was very grouchy the entire concert , I lost a lot of respect for him that evening !
I am going to my second Todd concert in April. The first concert was with Darryl Hall so that felt safe. I have heard these stories from other people and I will be crushed if this happens. I saw him from a long distance away at the Denver Airport and I approached him. He was so nice!!
The first three sides of this double album were all Todd for all vocals and instruments including this song.
We gotta get you a Women
