The usecase example scenario is so dumb. Drawing on top of what you're seeing behind will never work. Not only you're putting a 2D drawing on a 3D space, but If you move your head or reposition the screen you lose the reference completely. That's the typical case of "lets's design a product and then create a problem around it that never existed before".

Well one could take a picture for starters and work on it in the office, theres no need to stay hours in pouring raind working a on a opaque screen

Let's face it: they had to make this see through screen to make our reality catch up to the one seen in futuristic movies released decades ago 😂

Jedyne praktyczne zastosowanie jakie widzę to zamienienie szyb w witrynach sklepowych w banery reklamowe wyświetlające reklamy wideo. Dla zwykłego użytkownika, jest to tak potrzebne jak składany telefon.

Best use of transparent screens, that comese to my mind, when it comes to average user, is video calls. You put your web cam behind the laptop screen in height of eyes of a person you are talking to. In that case, person who talking with you will have feeling that you are watchin him/her right in the eyes, and not over his/her head, or under his/her chin... Ideal scenario is that both sides have that screen, and a web cam positioned behind it... It would be a huge difference, for a better...

We don't need it in laptops. But advertisement agencies will be happy to use it as an advertising medium: windows, bus stops, etc. displaying ads everywhere. It's gonna be terrible.

Cheaper alternative - camera on the cover facing behind the laptop. Will work the same as this freaking VR/AR goggles now.

OMG, their usecases sucks. If it's easier to draw a bridge with the real environment in the background, then I guess it's also better to present it with the same context, right? But the other use case, to identify items is even weirder, since you're not looking at same thing as the camera, the perspective and the angle is different so it just doesn't make sense to work with that.
I really thought they'd go with more lifestyle explanation, to try to solve issues with seeing people behind the screen - i.e.in reception, cash registers, all the services.
ps. I bet idiots will start using it while driving pretty soon.

I'm not buying the argument with AR. You can get better effect just with rear camera and normal screen displaying picture from this camera with additional virtual stuff put in it. Similar as it's done in mentioned glasses for AR (e.g. Apple Vision). For me this is just another gadget that no one needs, I've been always laughing at those sci-fi movies where they used this kind of screens making their work harder.

It looks cool, but let's face it - the example of use given in the video is a big stretch. I wouldn't buy a laptop, but I would like to have a tablet with such a screen
