- DaQuawn Bruce, Executive Director of Concerned Communities for America, hopes the arrest of pro golfer Scottie Scheffler brings up “a real discussion” about how this happens to Black and Brown Americans every day. He tells NewsNation’s “On Balance” the resolution must come from the bedrock concept of law and order. Let’s not extrapolate this to all other instances, he warns, but let’s judge this on the facts of this case.

That's not at all what happened. One officer gave him orders based on his credentials and another officer, who was unaware of his credentials, overreacted. Video will be released this week.
Scottie did obey commands and did not resist arrest.
The Black Community celebrates the lives of black men who repeatedly did not comply, reached for firearms, and escalated their arrests... The Scottie situation is night and day difference.

One consistent finding in the social science literature is that if we really want to reduce crime, education equity and the establishment of a work infrastructure is the best approach. A study using 60 years of data found that an increase in funding for police did not significantly relate to a decrease in crime. Throwing more police on the street to solve a structural problem is one of the reasons why people are protesting in the streets. Defunding police-reallocating funding away from police departments to other sectors of government-may be more beneficial for reducing crime and police violence.

I think Scotty is a little bit full of himself... monstrously spoiled... Would have been dangerous if he got that attitude flowing through the accidentand without yielding... It's happened and it could have another fatality.... Scotty would have seemed to be on drugs or drunk.... While Scotty was racing the blockade down the road may have been shot at and duely shot.... That's no misunderstanding that's a dangerous impetus madman behind the wheel.......
